I went to Olivet my whole life and I feel like I received the best education available in the area…read more All the teachers were great, the curriculum understandable, classmates for the most part friendly. The only downfall Olivet has is the "poo pond" behind the school. If the wind is blowing the wrong way it can be very miserable around campus. I was in the band 5th-12th, with Mr. David Funk directing. He is an awesome band leader and got Olivet into the best shape musically ever, as far as I'm concerned. All of my brothers and sisters have been in the band and have really enjoyed it also. They take a trip to Disney every couple of years, and although they don't go anymore, I got to journey to Washington, DC which was an absolute thrill. I learned so much. We got to go to the Smithsonian, Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol, Arlington (which I especially appreciate now, since my hubby is in the army), and many other neat and interesting places. I wish they still went. Recently there was a new auditorium built, which is absolutely beautiful and a true priviledge to have in Olivet. They are contructing a new cafeteria for Jr./Sr. high, and I believe it will be done soon. The drama program in the high school is wonderful, with Miss Malia Koger directing. There is an annual spring play put on by the high school. Always entertaining. My junior year we did Grease...that was a blast! When I was in the choir (Fortissimo), Mrs. Kim Faulkner was in charge, and I believe she is still there. It was ok. I mean, for a small town we had a lot of fun. My senior year we took a trip to NYC with the choir. I think they still go on trips, but I'm not sure. Olivet is really a great place to send your kids. I am hoping that we get to send our daughter there in the fall, although I'm not sure which state we'll be living in since my husband's orders are up in September.
