I was charged with a bogus claim of cyberstalking my wife. I initially contacted Kelly law office to consult with them about the charge and to do my divorce due to my wife committing adultery. They said they could handle them together and would need $200 come in and talk with them. I have a treasure trove of evidence she committed and admitted to adultery and defrauded me out of over a $1000. When I turned myself in for the cyberstalking charge the detective told me it was basically messaging back between a husband and wife about finances and her being adulterous and since we were not legally separated he would recommend the felony cyberstalking be reduced to a misdemeanor to the prosecutor. I brought Mr. Kelly the $200 and he asked me some basic questions which he said since we had no children and no finances tied to each other he recommended I didn't pursue adultery with even looking at the evidence I brought for him to look at which I thought the $200 should easily cover a few pages of text and screenshots he could have gave me an opinion on. He told me to represent me for both cases without looking at my evidence $15000. I was totally shocked that he would think $15000 without even looking at my word document with the text messages and screenshots I was in such disbelief I wondered if the man could read. I told him I could not come up with that kind of money especially if he is not going to look at what I brought him to consult me on. That was the end of our conversation. The guy didn't write me a receipt for the $200. Once I left I felt I had been totally scammed. I called him back and reminded him he didn't write me a receipt. He told me to come back and get a receipt and when I got there I told him about how I felt since he refused to look at my evidence I believed he had scammed me. He then decided to give me back half of the money. You could have the smoking gun in your hand and this guy only cares about how he is going to make money if he doesn't charge $200 off of your consulting fee when he won't even read the evidence. Buyer beware! I lost $100 for nothing. This guy is only concerned about your money and not facts of your case when there sitting in your hand and he is making $200 an hour to just ignore his client's documents. Several years ago I went to Jim Kelly because I had been indicted for selling some pills. There were actually two charges for the same thing which I told him about up front. He said it would cost $20,000 which was about $15000 hired than everyone else, but I figured since he was across the street from the courthouse he would know some people. It went on for two years in the middle of which he charged me another$10,000 for the second charge although he had said up front what I paid was for both. I was in no position to argue, so I paid him. They put the trial off for about 9 months and he told me that it appeared that I would just get a fine and probation when the time came. 2 days before the hearing I called him and he told me he had gotten them down to 10 years in prison, parchment, but I would probably only serve 5. I almost had a nervous breakdown. I called a close friend who knows a lot of people and he went up and talked to the judge and got him to agree to probation. The next day, 5 minutes before the trial Jim asked me if the pills I sold were from my prescription after I had said something about them. I couldn't believe it. The difference between it being your prescription and just illegal pills is enormous and my entire sentence was based on me selling illegal pills instead of from my own prescription. I wound up with 8 years of probation which he made no attempt to help me with when I called him 5 years later. I met murderers while I was on probation who didn't serve that much probation. He is unprepared and only interested in money. To come back at me in the middle of things and charge me additional money was nothing shy of extortion to me.
