Only good things to say about this place. They always work fast and efficiently and can usually take same day appointments as long as you go earlier in the day. The staff is always very nice and the technicians are on your side. I brought my ford focus in because Firestone had quoted me $3000 to fix my breaks and break pads and whatnot. Now I'm not a car person so I really don't understand what they did but they fixed everything for me for less than 1/3 what Firestone quoted me. 4 months later my car is still running perfectly and breaks are better than ever still. I brought in two wheel hub assembly to have bearings pressed out. The said "experienced" mechanic with supposedly 15 years experience took 2.5 hours to complete the job. I would guess for even an inexperienced mechanic, this process should have taken no more than an hour to do. When I went to pay, lady at counter asked if I was sure I wanted to pay with a card or not. If so, they'd have to tax me for the service. Shady practice. Do NOT go here for any service. They take longer than necessary to complete job and try to evade taxes. Poor customer service. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL! Took my car in to get a problem fixed. Paid to fix it light comes back on the same day. Dropped the car off again for 2 days and when going to pick it up I'm told there's another bill. No authorization for this what so ever. And to top it off they're not even sure it fixed it but want me to bring it back after driving it for 300 miles. We have been taking all of our cars to Kelly's for years. We have never felt they were over priced or unfair with the services they provided. They were quick, great communication and eager to help. The front office staff is friendly and engaging. We just brought our Ford Ranger into Kelly's due to a burning smell and loss of power in the engine. We had it towed to their facility due to the "check engine" light illuminating. They ran a quick diagnostic to determine a "misfire", but asked if we would be willing to pay $240.00 to run a 2 hour diagnostic to do a further deep dive to ensure there was nothing else going on in the engine. We said "sure". A few hours later Kelly's called to tell us that it was burnt "wires" that were placed too close to the engine block that caused the issue. Then they told me that since it was their shop that did the work to replace the wires when we brought it in for a regular "tune-up" (over 6 months ago) that it was their fault and there would be ZERO charge to us for the repairs. THAT IS UNHEARD OF!!! To have a maintenance shop with that much integrity is like finding a "diamond in the rough". I am always happy with the service we receive from Kelly's... but they really made our day by taking ownership in making it right. They have a customer for life!!!! read more

I am writing this review because so many people write bad reviews and not great reviews! I had an awesome experience at Kelly's, and here is why!! I went to Kelly's Auto on a Friday at noon in pure panic. My car was acting up, and my 'check engine' light went on as I was driving on 167 with my 86 year old mother in law who uses a walker. I put into Waze 'O'Reillys', and it gave me the address next to Kelly's. We were 1.5 hours from home (we were in Renton for a dr appt). Rose, at the front desk, was great. She had me have O'Reilly do a code search (which didn't say good things) and told me where to go for lunch since her crew was at lunch. I asked Rose how much it would be to diagnose the cause. Long story short, 1.5 hours later, they told me to call off my ride home because they knew the answer. I will say that I'm embarrassed that the problem was operator error due to a major lack of oil change (me). The amount I owed was LESS than what Rose had said! Rose and her crew at Kelly's were amazing! They kept me up to speed on the car. I was SO grateful for this team. Thank you!!! read more

Had them replace rack, pinion, bearing, and tie rod on my truck. Afterwards steering rack squeals when turning, truck pulls to the right like crazy, and some other kind of popping/banging sound coming from front wheels. Went back to have them look at it and they told me that they don't know what's wrong. Pretty much sent me on my way after taking all my money and not truly fixing my truck. I have used this company several times. I also ran an automotive establishment for 7 years called Torklift Central Welding in Kent. Automotive repair is generally a thankless endeavor. There are too many variables and impossible to see coming surprises under the hood that cause the already jaded customer from prior visits to other repair shops to not expect to be hustled or taken for granted. Kelly's isn't perfect, there is no way to be perfect all the time with every customer in the automotive repair industry. Sometimes you could sign over the shop and hand the customer the keys to the front door and they still wouldn't be satisfied. Now I'm not saying there aren't bad good and excellent companies out there. Because there are. But don't believe everything you read. And certainly don't base your choice on reviews in this industry. The questions to ask. How long have your people worked here? Actually make them name them off and the length of their tenure. The longer they have stayed the better the management and their values. Second opinions or quotes are very important. There are some things in life you don't want the cheapest price on. Like auto repair and plastic surgery. Last a written quote that is specific and detailed. There are laws in Washington that protect you from a low ball quote with an expensive end. Make them spell out the maybe and the if this happens. They can only up the price I believe 15% over quote but it has to be spelled out. So there ya go. You can't judge a place that wrenches by its cover. Judge them on what you friends and neighbors say. And the luck they've had. There are some really exceptional companies out there that will be honest and take care of you like family. But please don't assume that every automotive shop or car dealership is corrupt. It only punishes your wallet and their ability to service your vehicle. read more

I've heard horror stories about mechanics at a lot of places but this guy, the owner, beats them all. If you bring a car here beware. No guarantee on their work is what the owner, Kelly, told my husband. He has horrible communication, doesn't care about your safely, and couldn't care less about you, your family, your vehicle. My daughter was on her way to Portland this morning and (she was only about 20 miles from the house) -thank goodness and she starting having problems with her 2013 Honda. Power steering light came on, check engine light was flashing, she couldn't accelerate, etc. Luckily, my husband was able to get it off highway 18 using exit 5. Right off the exit there was Kelly's Auto Repair which we never heard of but we needed help with our car. Rose greeted us and asked us what was happening and she was very polite. She was very informative and gave us the prices upfront and asked if we could leave the car with her for a little bit. She called us back quickly and told us what the problem was and gave us an estimate of what it would cost. She told us they could start with one thing and then add other things. We decided to take her advice and do all the repairs at one time, but there wasn't any pressure at all. She also stated that she could get this done by the time they closed today at 6 pm and this was great because our daughter wanted to get home. Rose called us a little after 4 pm and we picked up the car. She was very informative about the repairs and asked if we had any questions. My daughter really needed new lights on her Honda as well and we forgot to mention this earlier. We went next door and purchased lights and they said they couldn't put them in without taking the car apart. My daughter went back over to Rose at Kelly's to get some quotes for putting in the lights in Portland so she could get this done down there. Rose told her to pull in and she was able to get that done for her before they closed. They did not need to take car apart!! I called Rose to thank her and tell her how much we appreciated her excellence service and who I should contact to let them know. She said I could put something on Yelp. I just want to say from the moment we stepped into Kelly's to the time we left, the service and courtesy of this shop was very impressive. My husband and I felt much better sending our daughter back to Portland with her Honda In working order and bright lights. Thank you Rose and your mechanics for a job well done, going above and beyond and excellent service!! You don't find this all the time in today's world. Kelly's have been my goto shop for 25+ years. They have always been honest and fair to me. The best thing I like, is they have never tried to upsell me, ever. I went in last Saturday for a radiator flush, an oil change and an ebrake adjustment. It took them 30 minutes less than I thought, cost less than I thought, I got a free oil filter, my tires were checked and filled to the proper psi, AND they reset my engine light. Kelly's Auto Mechanics Is far from affordable and after $900 and two trips my rig is still not fixed. Charged me for two diagnosis and 3x the cost for the parts. Went back to find that the mechanic assigned to work on my rig knew NOTHING about Nissan. I was also told by the mechanic that the person who test drove it was also new and only drove it around the block once. Not worth the $100 an hour for service! * we have returned the rig under warranty and picked it up last night. Still lags in acceleration. UPDATE: I have never in my life experienced such a nightmarish experience in service from a mechanic in my life. Since my Nissan has returned home from its $900+ repair the A/C has been drained. There is a heavy metal sound when driven over 50 MPH. My disabled husband is at this moment sitting in the rain on the side of HWY 18 with a broken car. He was heading to Kelly's Automotive but at this point we will never deal with them again. Very expensive lesson. ACOID AT ALL COST. If I could give a lower score I would. read more

I will not be bringing any of my vehicles here anymore, you shouldn't either. This place will treat you very kind and make you trust them with your car. They'll tell you you're estimate is around $300 then when you go to pick up your car, turns out the total is $635 without calling for approval on the additional fees and services. We brought my brothers vehicle here first for an oil leak, they fixed it no problem. However, when my brother went to pick up his car it was making a very loud noise (a noise that clearly was not happening before he brought it in). So he brought it back down and they realized they forgot to put a hose back on! Easy fix for a problem that should not have happened. If you think the problem ends there, it doesn't. I brought my car down there (stupid of me) to get a tune up on Friday morning. My car had no problems going in. This was when the estimate of around $300 was given to me. I was not aware a tune up on a car with no problems would take 3 days. No phone call to tell me they would be keeping it over the weekend. If I knew they would not get to it till Monday, I would have just brought it in on Monday. Although that was not the best situation, it's definitely not the worst part about my experience here. Finally, I get the call that my car is done, this was when the total price of $635 was given to me. Which honestly, wasn't that big of a deal for me as long as my car was tuned up with no problems...Everything was great until the next morning when I went to work. Oh no what's that I hear? A new problem with my car that had no problems when I brought it in?? My car kept dying every time i stopped. So, I brought it back in, expecting no charge considering my car was completely fine going in. I end up getting a phone call that the guy who drove it saw nothing wrong with it. So, I go back down there to pick it up they end up charging me an additional $300 since they did find the problem and fixed it. (Granted, my car is fine now.) If you want a place to fix something and mess up another thing, Bring your car down to Kelly's auto repair where you will also be charged nearly $1000 for what originally was just a tune up! Used to be my favorite. Had the ignition coils changed on my daughter's car today. Not only have the shop rates been raised, they charged us $40 over retail price for EACH COIL. The coils are $69.99 at O'Reilly's. Kelly's charged us 110.95 FOR EACH PART. $160 over. I checked the retail price online. I used the parts number on the invoice. The spark plugs, using their part number, are 2.29 retail at Auto Zone. Kelly's charged us 10.99 EACH. So $25 upcharge on the spark plugs. Invoice claims 800+ was the original estimate. It wasn't. The over the phone estimate was $700+. Granted, the $800 included changing the oil, which they said was necessary because of the bad coils, and we would have okayed the work, but they didn't call. Also not sure if they checked the coils and determined which needed replacing, or just replaced them all. It took 6 hours to check the codes, and all they told us was the computer claimed ignition coils and spark plugs, so they replaced all of them. Apparently this is a known issue with Hyundai, but they did not check any additional items - wiring- or if they did they didn't charge us for it, which seems rather unlikely. The car DOES run now, and I am not sure about the last, but there you have it. We've been going there for over 20 years, and referred many people, but not anymore. 7-14-2018. read more

I have NEVERRRRRR had such a bad experience at a mechanic shop. Not only was I charged $1300 to repair a part on my car, but the owners are TERRIBLE. They never fixed the issue and when I returned my car back to them to have them look over my car again due to me having the same issue, they claimed they couldn't find the issue, then the wife of the company gets pissed at me for repeating myself and then proceeds to LIE on me stating that I cursed at her. I've NEVER cursed at someone who was trying to help me. The owner apologized, but I still refused to have them work on my car. I'd rather find somewhere else to have my issue fixed. Do NOT waste your time here. Only reason I went is because the people I lease my car from spoke so highly of them, but of course they're not going to be rude to the people who contracts with them. read more

I am so glad that I stumbled upon Kelly's years ago, we have been taking all of our vehicles there now for over 15 years, I would never take my vehicle for service anywhere else. Kelly & his crew are great! they are honest, affordable & never up-sell you anything you don't need. Over the years, they have saved me from buying a used car with a broken head gasket, wouldn't buy another vehicle without having him look at it first. I took my car to Les Schwab once for a tire repair & they told me I needed all new brakes & rotors, quoted me $1,200 drove my car to Kelly's was told brakes were fine, I had 30% left & rotors were good too. I have other stories, but you get the point. When my daughter turned 16, Kelly gave her a lesson on how to maintain her car & what to do if she ever broke down on the side of the road and taught her not to be afraid to talk directly to a mechanic, invaluable lesson! Do not waste your hard earned money here! This is by far one of the worst experiences I've had, and my car hasn't needed much work done to it in the first place! I am at 25 year old woman, that works her ass off to survive in this expensive Seattle area. I am barely scraping by, i had been saving for months to fix my only car. I brought it to Kelly's, thinking it was a family owned business and that they would take care of me, and that is where I went wrong. I went to get my oil changed yesterday, and due to them over tightening my oil cap, the mechanic couldn't get it off. I now have a puncture and am leaking oil, I do not have the extra money to fix this issue and have no idea how I will get to work and back. Plus, they took my Scion engine cover and refuse to replace! My car is now broken down, and they will not do anything at all to resolve the issue that was their fault in the first place. One woman that works at the front desk had an argument over pricing. Called to see how much they would charge to replace my starter one day, called a few other places to just see how much I should be charged and then the next day I called back... well then I was told 3 different prices. I guess if you do go to this place Veronica is the person you should talk to. The other woman literally argued with my bf about the tax price. Well it turns out there is service tax and labor tax.... this lady is yelling 9.5 tax and she didn't say that there is two different taxes. Just ask for Veronica if you do go. My car had to be towed there after it wouldn't start even with a jump... They started with the battery and said they would check the alternator too they called back and said alternator is great you just owe for the battery! Kelly's Auto Repair is FANTASTIC! The customer service professional at the front desk is super sweet, knowledge, and wonderful to work with. The first time we got a flat, we visited Discount Tire in Auburn. Discount Tire told us it would be a few days before they had our type of tire in stock (we have a newer Honda), really?! On a whim, we headed over to Kelly's and they were able to get us a tire immediately and change it out quickly. Recently, we got a nail in our tire, and we went straight to Kelly's. Sure enough, same great service! Our tire was taken care of quickly and efficiently. So glad to have found this place! read more

Took my 2006 infiniti g35 to Kelly's shop due to an overheat issue. I was hoping I can trust them base on their reviews but boy was I wrong...these mechanics here have no clue when it comes to working on import cars. Instead of properly diagnosing what the problem is ,these guys were just throwing parts at it hoping that it would fix the problem.. After so much money I had to pay them for something they didn't fix they had the nerves to charge me an overnight fee!!?? My car is now fixed from another shop who actually knew what the hell they were doing and doesn't charge an arm and leg for it. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP TO ANYONE unless you need something simple as a light bulb change. read more
