Came here for cappuccino and breakfast pastries and wasn't disappointed. Kids got lemonade (with cucumber and mint) and berry iced tea (which had a distinct herby flavor we couldn't quite place - magnolia root apparently) they both liked their choices. Cappuccino was good and so so pretty. I liked the ham and cheese croissant although the lamination was eh. My partner preferred the almond croissant. We also sampled the green tea blueberry muffin which tasted a lot like tea and was enjoyed. My son loved the granola bowl and the sea salt cinnamon bun was really good. I have been trying to get to Kelly's bakery for months now and I'm glad I finally made it. It's a Saturday, late morning on a beautiful sunny day and the line is out the door and down the ramp. A very good sign! The wait was not that long as they are hustling inside trying to get everyone taken care of. We ordered hot cardamom lattes and they are so incredibly delicious that I wished I'd ordered a large. I got Kelly's egg sandwich. Nice and hot with yummy melted cheese, caramelized onions, a yolky egg and extra for avocado. For me the brioche bun was too thick although the bread is good. Also wish it had more onions and the avocado was a small smear. It was good but I would probably not order again. The BALT (BLT with avocado) was the sandwich to beat. A nice crusty, toasted bread with delicious bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato. I wish I had gotten this for myself! Haha. The pastry was also very good. Last Wed April 22, 2026, I was introduced to Kelly's through the CIA. I visited with friends between events at FDR and enjoyed sandwiches, pastries, and bread to take home. It was a memorable experience, with excellent staff and service. However, my visit today was very disappointing. I stopped in to pick up sunflower bread, as previously recommended. At the counter, a staff member told me only garlic-onion bread was available today and that sunflower bread would be available tomorrow. I agreed to take the garlic-onion loaf and asked if it could be sliced, also mentioning that I planned to return the next day for sunflower bread. As I was completing the purchase, another staff member passing by stated that the bread was in fact sunflower. The first employee then changed course and asked how many I wanted. I requested one loaf and again asked if it could be sliced. He responded that they do not slice bread. I explained that during my visit last Wed., the breads have been sliced for us, and I also shared that I am a senior with a disability, specifically severe arthritis in both hands, which makes slicing difficult. A second staff member then interjected, stating that the bread should not have been sliced for me previously and that only sourdough is sliced, and only after 10 a.m. This interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and discouraged. The contrast between the welcoming, accommodating staff I encountered last Wednesday and today's experience was striking. My third post for this place. I should start bad mouthing them since the lines are already long enough! This is a small but airy bakery/cafe. The coffee is always good the espresso drinks are excellent. BUT- it is the bread that has me driving eleven miles to stick up on baguettes and sour dough loaves. My freezer is half bread - priorities! The staff is always friendly, Darren, Lori and Daniel seem to be the main group I see every week but even the changing crew is always friendly, warm and genuinely look like they are having a good time despite how busy they can get. This is probably still the best breads I have had up in this area. The croissants are really unbelievably flaky and buttery. My only complaint is that the when the owner/baker makes something new one day for us to try it's not there the next day!! This past week he made what I'll call a focaccia with olives that's was three inches thick and made me tear up! But I couldn't find it later in the week when I went back. But it's those little "specials" that make me try anything new I see there. Stay away from Kelly's! The line is long enough. read more

The people here are incredibly sweet and kind. They have a strict no outside food or drink policy that they make very clear. The staff handle anyone disrespecting that with absolute grace. Watched a trio of Karen's get kicked out because they repeatedly crossed this. Heard the Karens say "wait till you see our yelp review on this place" and stormed off. So I'm here to say that the staff here were super respectful and gave them many warnings. The food was stellar and their flavors for lattes are top tier. I recently went there for coffee and breakfast. Upon entering the café and bakery was very clean, well lit, and had nice displays. There was a little bit of confusion around who was helping us for some reason, so we stood there for a while waiting. Not a huge deal. The food was quite good but expensive. I got the mushroom toast and my friend got the BLT sandwich. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. I found it to be very pleasant with lots of available parking. The mushroom toast is definitely my absolute favorite! I have to say, it's probably one of my favorite toasts ever, where the savory, meaty and woody mushroom paired perfectly with the creamy cheese! The staff were also friendly and kind, conversing with us casually and it was a pleasure speaking with them. We were in Poughkeepsie for one night and decided to stop at Kelly's Bakery for breakfast to start the day. We were promptly greeted by one of the staff who took the time to summarize the menu since we said it was our first time there. I got the avocado toast, which was so buttery and fresh with the sliced vegetables, and the toast itself was very warm and chewy. The lavender latte, which was very smooth, had a good ratio of steamed milk to espresso. Both were very refreshing and warmed me up as it was about 20F outside. I enjoyed the warm ambiance of this cafe. The coziness made me not want to go back outside in the cold weather. It's a place where if I lived in the area I could see myself coming here often. Before we left, I bought some pastries to go to snack on for later. I picked up a croissant, scone, earl gray cinnamon roll and sesame cookie, in which the latter two really piqued my interest because I love the flavor of earl gray tea and sesame. The croissant and scone were solid - the former crunchy yet soft, and the latter not too dry. The cinnamon roll was very strong because of the earl grey tea, and there was also a bit too much sugar on top because it was very sweet. Still an interesting concept, nonetheless. Favorite bakery in the Hudson valley I SAID IT!! Kelly's can. not. miss. We discovered this spot in the midst of COVID when it was much less busy and it's been consistently amazing since. Quality has not gone down even with a line out the door! The croissants are the best I've had outside of France, the monkey bread is heavenly, banana bread is soft and moist and not too sweet and the chocolate babka muffin was super delicious. I've never had something here I didn't make happy noises whilst eating. I love the unusual + innovative flavor combos and constantly changing menu. They also have homemade flavored syrups for espresso drinks (my favorite is the lavender). The huge open garage door windows make this an ideal work/study spot in warmer weather but that's really only feasible on an off-time as they are constantly moving tables in and out (and ask you only sit for max 90 mins). The is absolutely the best breakfast and pastries you will have in Poughkeepsie! We were visiting for a friend's wedding and wanted to get breakfast in the morning and try the walkway over the Hudson. We started with a slice of buttered almond cake and pumpkin cake. Both were super moist, flavorful and delicious. We also had two medium, hot caramel lattes and the Kelley's egg sandwich. The roll was soft and fluffy, the egg was cooked perfectly, topped with caramelized onions and comes piled with Gruyère cheese. You can also top it with crispy thick cut bacon or chicken sausage. I have tried this bakery several times and each time have had a negative experience. They don't have enough food. The service is slow and unwelcoming. They don't like if you just get a cup of coffee and sit. Constantly clearing the tables that customers are still sitting at. We were harassed twice by separate employees to put away an empty sippy cup we brought in for our 18 month old daughter as the place does not allow outside containers. When we explained we filled the container with their water when we arrived they still insisted stating that we could have alcohol in it. As mentioned in many other reviews, the food here is good, but the service is another story. I've had multiple experiences at this cafe where a male employee has either grabbed my arm or touched my belongings without permission. Personal space clearly isn't respected here. I understand asking someone to move their things, but grabbing my shoulders from behind. Especially when I had noise-canceling headphones on. It is completely inappropriate and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and caught off guard. Why are we grabbing people and being so aggressive? This has happened more than once, and it's not okay. I won't be returning because every time I've been here, I've left feeling off and uneasy. On top of that, when my significant other and I visited together, we were immediately told (in a rude tone) about a 90-minute seating limit. Which, fine, that's the policy--but the same employee kept approaching us and hovering, clearly watching what we were doing. It felt invasive and unwelcoming. Judging by other reviews, this seems to be a pattern. Instead of making excuses or giving copy-paste responses to criticism, maybe it's time to actually address and fix the root of the problem: the touchy behavior and rude attitudes. It's not that hard to be kind to people, or to keep your hands to yourself. If you want to feel uncomfortable and be touched, this is a great spot for you. Like I predicted, the owner replies with "Sorry for trying to grab your attention". Grab my attention by tapping me do not grab onto my arms from behind me when I am not looking. I love love love Kelly's bakery. The coffee is strong and perfect, and the baked goods are to die for. My partner and I always stop by whenever we have a chance to give ourselves a little treat! Their scones are my favorite! I think the scone dough is all the same for the different flavors though so I would recommend just ordering one and trying something else if you're in between pastries. The inside of the cafe has a warm cozy vibe with room to sit and talk so you can plan to stay a while! Some notes for a great visit: They're quick with the orders, but depending on the time & day, might be really busy so plan accordingly. On their busiest days, you may have to stand in a line that goes out the door. Also, be careful with the parking. There's not a lot of parking without reserved signs for other businesses so double-check before you go; we notice tow trucks driving by often in the area. read more

I have to admit, my experience with Kelly's is very limited. My aunt was kind enough to bring us some of their pastries, so I haven't even set foot inside yet. So far, I only know four things about this new Poughkeepsie bakery: 1. It's new, and it's in Poughkeepsie. 2. They made an everything bagel croissant that was DELICIOUS. (I ate it too fast to snap a photo.) 3. They made INCREDIBLE chocolate babka muffins. I don't even like chocolate babka. 4. I don't know if these are specials, or if they're available all the time, but it seems like they are definitely making whimsical, tasty baked goods that I will be eating more of in the future. And I will enjoy them. I imagine I will learn more things about Kelly's in the future, but that should be enough for you to check them out. We stopped in since it was close to our physician. There is a parking lot available which is convenient for that area. The inside is very chic and modern. Great flower decor and interesting menu. As we entered, the host was gracious and saw we were struggling with the menu. They were patient and gave us all their recommendations. I ordered a vanilla flavored latte and Liz ordered a decaf cappuccino. They were great! I ordered the tuna toast and Liz ordered an another toast reminiscent of a pizza. It was fresh and flavorful. PEANUT FREE CAFE??? AMAZING! I went here last week with my mother in law (she loves this place!) unsure if I would be able to get anything other than a drink because we couldn't call beforehand to see how safe they were for peanut allergens. To our great delight, they recently became peanut allergen free!! I know of only two other bakeries/cafes where I can safely eat the baked goods because they take eliminated peanut allergens. In celebration I got a chai tea latte with almond milk, cinnamon bun, and a breakfast sandwich. All were very good and I am STOKED to find a cafe in the area where I can eat safely. I do wish that you could call ahead, but this is a nice little place to get your morning caffeine pickup and nom on some tasties. The staff are also super friendly!
