They're passionate about wine here and will take the time and effort to make sure you get something you're happy with. The food's French and Spanish influeced and very much made to match the wine list (which with 100 choices really is comprehensive). The food is well sourced, with plenty of care and attention put in. Whilst you might end up spending a pretty penny of wine the food is reasonably priced, which means you can feel a bit less guilty for spending so much on drink. Not to busy at the moment, but still a decent atmosphere. Head here especially if you're a wine afficienado, but even if you're not.

The meat in general is very good, and they do amazing things with chicken. Sausage butties were devoured, and garlic rosemary potatoes were devilishly consumed as we soaked up the sunshine and traffic fumes on the cafe balcony. What started as a well-intentioned 'light' lunch turned into a huge helping of good, simple food that didn't cost a small fortune. Our only mistake was in paying at the till, which meant we didn't get jelly beans with our check.

The reason why my review has dropped a star is because it is far more expensive than any local competition. This might be because the food is amazing, but dinner here will set you back at least £25 each. Having said that, it's a perfect place to come for an special occasion or to impress the in laws!!

Even the latte that accompanied my dessert was one of the best I have had in a restaurant in a long time. If it's the food you're going for, I'd say there are plenty of other establishments in Clifton offering better value and quality than the Bridge Café - but you're really paying for the whole experience here, particularly the elegant surroundings and the location, and I'd highly recommend eating here at least once if only to enjoy what has to be one of Bristol's most striking and spectacular views.
