I don't derive pleasure out of talking smack, but my dealings with Ken Hall plumbing have led me to the conclusion that they are one of the most unreliable plumbing businesses around. I've got an intense story for you. My bathroom at home had been developing quite an offensive smell. Yes, even when it wasn't occupied. I decided it was time to call a professional in, and I had someone from Ken Hall come around to assess the problem. After numerous visits (I don't know why it took more than one), the plumber concluded that it was just a simple blockage that could be solved by using drain cleaner. My girlfriend and I proceeded to try flushing out the blockage with drain cleaner, with no resulting luck. One day sewage started seeping up from the shower drain, and we needed an immediate solution. Wanting a second opinion, we called Metropolitan Plumbing. On their first visit, they had found the problem. Someone had left a copper rod in the pipes after we had renovated the bathroom, which was causing a lot of the blockage. In addition, they found that our toilet wasn't fit to Australian standards, and told us we'd need a replacement. To flush out the blockage, they used a hydro pump, resulting in sewage coming out of the shower drain like a water fountain. It was - pardon my French - fucking disgusting. Not only did Ken Hall fail to resolve the problem on numerous occasions, but their inattentiveness and, dare I say laziness, cost us a fortune. After telling the story to others, they confirmed this with equally poor (yet less disgusting) experiences with the company. I'll remember to avoid these plumbers in the future. read more

Happy customer!! They get my full recommendation! Firstly, in all fairness, had I read other reviews I dare say I would not have contacted Ken Halls, but in my desperation and haste due to a leak that was disrupting my sleep (not cool) and a blockage that was beginning to let off an odour (doubly not cool), I requested a plumber from Ken Halls (because I see their vans everywhere). Did you know you can make a booking online??? I haven't ever really had to organise a plumber before, so I'm not sure if online bookings are a standard service these days, but I thought that was just a bit nifty. Anyway, I emailed off my request with the details of my circumstances and received a call within about a half hour of the sent email to organise a time to get my situation resolved. The lady on the phone was simply lovely and even sympathetic to my sleep disrupted plight and organised someone to come out. The plumber contacted me to advise that he would be a half hour late due to being held up elsewhere, which I felt was a really courteous service (I've had other trades that just don't turn up or say we'll be there between 8am - 5pm and your whole day revolves around being at home... ). The plumber arrived, introduced himself and even had a spare change of shoes so that he wouldn't bring dirt into the house. Really nice guy. He got stuck right into the job, didn't take long at all and my house is now odour and drip free! Yippee! Also, just as additional testament to the overall customer service and character, I made the guy a cup of coffee and he even offered to wash the cup before leaving (firstly, lovely to offer. Second, also good to check how people feel about others doing things in their home - I'm cool with it, but understand others might not be due to feeling it's a bit personal). P.S he was even a good sport in letting me take a photo for this review! Which, let's face it, is the icing on the cake. Plumber arrived to clear a blocked drain into a septic . Nice young man but admitted he knew nothing about septic systems. Spent considerable time talking to his boss, taking pictures and sending through. Asked me to phone council and he spoke to council re how septic should work. Placed pole into drain and cleared immediately. Received bill for 1 hours work - over $200. Office phoned next day and apologized for the size of the bill but stated that the office bill on time only as they have no idea what has happened on the job. Offered a credit if I used them again. So I paid for their untrained plumber to talk to his boss and my council to clean a pipe that took him less than 3 minutes. Why couldn't they give me a credit now, as I certainly won't be using them again nor referring them. read more

I wouldn't bother with them. I requested them get back to me for a replacement hot water service and an installation of a gas cook top. Not a rocket scientists job to install either I think. Well they didn't even have the courtesy to get back to me. I live within 10km of the CBD not far from anyone. It has now been over 2 months since the email was sent to them.... nothing. I have since had a reliable plumber call in to do the jobs for me and apologised for being 10 minutes late. A trip for him from West Lakes to Blackwood during peak hour morning periods. read more
