Dr. Wang was a teaching physician and medical administrator in China prior to opening her practice in Ithaca more than 20 years ago - first in a tiny suite at the Boardman House by DeWitt Park, then in the DeWitt Mall, and now at the Integrative Medicine Center. When I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Dr. Wang got my symptoms AND labs under control before I could even get an appointment with my endocrinologist. When I had debilitating sinus infection after sinus infection last fall (I'm still not used to the dry air in CA), I had acupuncture with Dr. Wang every day for a week over winter break and it completely broke through my pattern - I haven't so much as gotten a sore throat since then and I've been breathing better than I have for a long time. She sees patients for all sorts of conditions, but she's really known for her fertility work. She's constantly being invited to baby showers and birthdays. Which brings me to the main reason she's such a great doctor - she absolutely loves what she does. She cannot bear to leave Ithaca for very long (even for trips to China) because she loves seeing her patients and really wants to make sure every patient is cared for. Also, she's helped write the national board exam for acupuncturist, given classes for continuing education credit for other acupuncturists, and has served on who knows how many boards relating to acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I think they also have a spare room for private treatments. Frankly, I think sharing the experience with the 6 other people added to my experience. Everyone was respectful of each others treatments. So incredible. With the sliding scale payment scheme, I can definitely afford to have frequent visits. This is particularly helpful for me since I have a history of joint and muscle injuries that take a bit more time to treat. There's a $10 fee for the first visit, then it's $15-$35 a session, depending on what you can afford. What a remarkable way to offer treatment! I made my appointment via their website - totally easy process. Oh, and it's cash or check only, but Alternatives is right around the corner. I had about 40 Alexander Lessons with Mona over a two year period. Alexander lessons include…read moremovement reeducation through verbal directions and touch. I didn't come to lessons with any pain issues originally, but was interested in improved posture and musical performance. I didn't study for long enough for my musical performance to be much improved, but my use of my body certainly did. Between my two sets of 20 or so lessons, I developed pain in one foot when running. I went to an orthopedist, and he corrected the problem with an orthotic. For other reasons I returned to my Alexander lessons. At that time Mona helped me with my running issue, and I was able to stop using the orthotic, without the splitting pain returning. In close, if you have issues with pain, there's a chance that you are causing the issue with how you use your body. If you have an open mind, Mona might be able to help you break the pattern.
