We were drawn by the cute patio decor and decided to stay for dinner as the menu offered a variety of Indian, Thai, Italian, and traditional German food. At first it does seem a bit of a red flag that Schall & Rauch serves a variety of cuisines, but the friendly staff (who spoke perfect English by the way) explained that one of the cooks was Indian and they specialize in Indian food. We ordered the shrimp pasta and the spicy curry and were not left disappointed with the large portion sizes. We wished the pasta offered bigger shrimp pieces, but it tasted good. Our favorite, however, was definitely the spicy lamb curry; the lamb was so soft and cooked perfectly! It also packs quite the heat and we were left sniffling by the end of the meal. There were plenty of seating both indoors and on the patio, but be warned that you may be breathing in that secondhand smoke from the smokers seated at the patio tables if you sit close to the window. Overall, a nice location in the heart of the university district + extra points for having super friendly staff who were willing to explain the menu and give recommendations!!!

Nice jukebox, quick and friendly service, great Weißbier and a cool and friendly crowd. I will defenitely come back here again and it is open till 5am. From the road it doesn't look like much - just a bunch of tables outside a narrow door in the wall - but if you go through that door there's a rather charming covered (and heated) courtyard which makes for a very nice ambiance. They have a wide variety of food ranging from salads and bagels to burgers and schnitzel and a good range of drinks to choose from too! The waiters can be a bit on the slow side but if you're not in a hurry this place is worth a try.
