Dr. Fish is really good at what he does. I visited him for various issues: shoulder, feet, legs - multiple things. Each of them, he diagnosed accurately and treated well. When I first visited him, his somewhat brusque nature of engagement took a bit of time to get used to, but frankly given his depth of knowledge and ability to make things right, I am happy to completely ignore it/have gotten used to it. I actually enjoy it these days - there is an embedded dry sense of humor which I find makes me mentally chuckle. Back to his expertise, which is what I am really paying for: His combination of exercises, dry needling and other routines are absolutely on point. When he tells me to start/stop doing something, I know he is right. If I do what he says, I get better. If I don't, it is exactly what he predicts (example, stop a specific kind of exercise or it will continue hurting and yep, he's right. Or, start wearing these sort of shoes and it will improve and yep, he's right, Or, if you don't treat that part with ice for more than 20 minutes you will not heal, and yep, he's right - the list goes on). His dry needling treatments are incredibly effective. I was surprised by how they unlocked muscle pain immediately. I absolutely will recommend him to anyone. I went to Dr. Fish after I started having severe neck pain and very limited range of motion. I have always had chronic neck and back pain that I thought could be relieved with just massages. However, a quick check-up by Dr. Fish revealed a neck fracture, which was confirmed through an X-Ray and CT scan. My later appointments with him addressed my muscular imbalance (thanks scoliosis), as well as dormant back muscles and poor posture caused by the office lifestyle. Throughout my rehabilitation process, he used a combination of manual manipulation, dry needling, electrotherapy, cold laser therapy, and parodic humor. As others have said before me, I really appreciate how he explained what was wrong with my body (and my life choices) and walked me through the techniques he was using. Beyond his treatment during our sessions, he gave me take-home exercises to help me rehabilitate before our next session. Each session utilized different techniques depending on how well I had followed his take-home care instructions, so do your homework. He'll know. This flexibility showed how proficient he is at his work. Due to the severity of my injuries, I started out with two sessions per week. When I got to a point where I had recovered from my neck injury, we cut down our sessions to once a week, with more focus on physical therapy to improve my back muscle strength. He gave me simple, effective rehabilitative exercises to do at home and pointed me to an excellent reformer Pilates instructor. As someone who has always been active in martial arts, it was refreshing to be able to regain my flexibility and core strength without the pain. Sadly, I parted ways with Dr. Fish when I moved. I have yet to find a physician as knowledgeable and effective as him. I had been having severe and daily upper back tension and pain, tension headaches and dizziness for 10 years! I had seen several doctors, including neurologists, and none of their treatments were successful in alleviating any of my symptoms. I was seriously suffering daily. It was horrible! During quarantine, I had a lot of time to do research on alternative treatments, and videos and testimonials on Youtube convinced me to seek chiropractic care. However, I had also heard a lot of horrifying stories about chiropractic treatments so I was naturally scared to make a first appointment. I finally decided to make an appointment to see Dr. Fish. Long story short, I am writing this review free of upper back pain, tension headaches and dizziness! I've had only one appointment with Dr. Fish so far and the at-home treatments that he recommended virtually eliminated my most severe symptoms. During my appointment, Dr. Fish listened very carefully to all my concerns and answered all my questions thoroughly. I will say that he is very knowledgable about the human body. He performed an examination where he pressed on my pressure points, then he made diagnoses, suggested tests that need to be done by my PCP to rule out other conditions, and told me the things I was doing (and needed to stop doing!) that were causing all the muscular tension and pain that I was experiencing. I would give a zero if I could. My first visit was great despite the lack of decor, filthy carpet, and lack of ambiance. After my first visit I quickly realized that this guy is all about getting patients to set up multiple visits and get blood work as if he were an M.D. so that he can bill insurance and get more money with unnecessary visits and tests. He even went as far as talking down about the chiropractic profession and claiming to have a law degree as well. Strange. I will never go back to him and will instead stick to my regular Chiropractor who respects the profession and his patients. ****UPDATE**** So, "Dr." Fish responded. Stay away from this man. I was on the fence on seeing yet another chiropractor because it wasn't very effective a few years ago when I went see one at Rockville for my back and shoulder. What pushes me over to see Dr. Fish was the fact that my PCP wasn't able to figure out what happened with my back pain and I was desperate to find some relieve. In my honest opinion, Dr. Fish is not like any other chiropractors I've seen, where they adjust your back and neck regardless of symtom. He was very detail in his diagnosis and his 'precriptions' for the treatment for me are spot on. I noticed significant improvement and mobility after 2 treatments and I was symtom free after 4 sessions. He is currently working on my shoulder which I messed up from playing volleyball competitive 3 years ago. I saw a chiropractor and physical therapy back then and none of them worked. Again after 2 treatment I have regaining my range of motions gradually. This goes about the extent of knowledges Dr Fish possesses which I feel are very board and straight to the point and no BS. About 6 weeks ago I was running on the treadmill and my feet began to ache so bad I could not continue. After a while my shins and calf muscles started to ache too. It was so bad that I had trouble walking. I took ibuprofen and hoped it would go away. After a couple of weeks like this I knew I had to do something. I saw Dr. Fish. He diagnosed me with shin splints, calf muscle strain, and plantar fasciitis - he said it was all due to having flat feet and not wearing the proper footwear. Dr. Fish treated me with dry needle therapy (kind of like acupuncture), deep tissue massage, and electrical therapy. Then he manipulated my feet and ankles. Not only did Dr. Fish take care of the pain but he explained clearly what the underlying problem was, how it could be remedied and what my expectations should be, given my age. He is way more than a chiropractor because he combines different methods of treatment, including acupuncture, acupressure, electrical stimulation, massage, etc... I have been a patient for over a year, for various orthopedic ailments -- and for his knowledgeable referrals to other medical specialties. Being classified a chiropractor is, by the way, not fully descriptive; he also has an extensive educational background in neurology and osteopathy. For two years, I was treated by a board certified neurologist for a neurological condition I didn't have -- Dr. Fish identified the correct diagnosis, subsequently acknowledged by my (former) neurologist. I have a great deal of experience with the medical professions and find Dr. Fish to be a practitioner with a unique combination of general medical knowledge, insight, and availability. When my neck suddenly would not turn to the left and I had intense pain, the stars where aligned for me when I called several chiropractors and only Dr. Fish called me back to see me that day. He tested the range of motion for my neck and could tell I had a bulging disc. He told me he was not able to adjusted it much that day in my acute condition, but applied incredible electronic pulsations, and instructed me how to apply ice and take Advil, and come back in a few days for an adjustment. When I left that day, I could already move it more. After a few appointments, I was back to normal. I later found out that Dr. Fish can treat all kinds of different conditions. He has also helped to restore proper movement to my right hip, which has bothered me for years. I've been to many chiropractors before, but none have compared to Dr. Fish. He takes the time to diagnose and use different kinds of techniques to treat conditions. He's easy to talk to and also provides helpful advice, exercises, and explanations. His knowledge of the human body is vast, and his life story is incredible, growing up in American, then attending high school, college/medical school in Taiwan, also becoming high skilled in martial arts during this time, then back to the U.S. for more medical school. About a week ago, I woke up with my neck & shoulders hurting (which happens sometimes, but this was more than usual). The morning after, I bent down and all of a sudden, I had trouble getting back up. I hadn't had this severe of a back pain in over 10 years. Everything was still closed because of Hurricane Sandy, so the next morning, I called up Dr. Fish and was able to get an appointment for that afternoon. I felt better than the previous day, but everything still hurt. Walking out of that first appointment with Dr. Fish, my neck and shoulders no longer hurt, and by the next evening, my back was much much improved. The next day, I was back at Dr. Fish's for a second visit for my back, and and voila, good as new! He also talked to me about how to position my computer screen/keyboard to reduce back pains, taught me a stretching exercise to help my lower back, and we also talked through some nutritional and other health issues. He's very knowledgeable about all kinds of medical issues! Technical stuff aside, Dr. Fish has a great bedside manner. He's actually fun to visit. He has all sorts of interesting stories, both about his personal history and other stuff, to keep you entertained while you're there. Also, my health insurance didn't cover the visit (b/c it went toward deductible), and b/c he operates on a sliding scale (i.e. giving a discount when you're not covered by insurance), I found the costs to be very reasonable and manageable. In fact, during the first visit, I kept thinking that the consultation/treatment sure seemed like it was worth more than I was paying for it! I didn't realize he was giving me a discount until later. I saw Dr. Fish in consultation where he advised me to get an MRI and from that concluded that I needed surgery, so he refused to work with me. He referred me to a well-known surgeon who said emphatically that I did not need surgery. So I went back to Dr. Fish who was very pessimistic and did an manipulation that wasn't helpful. In fact he didn't notice that my hips were tilted. I went to a chiropractor who adjusted me, and right away felt much better. I am now pain free off pain killers. Dr. Fish has no secretary so he leaves in the middle of the sessions to attend to people coming into his office, leaving me on my stomach in pain off and on for half an hour. He puts down other doctors, says negative things about American, and is in general a pessimist. Pessimism kills. I strongly advise anyone to stay away from Dr. Fish. read more

Dr. Fish has likely saved me from one, and possibly two, surgeries as a result of properly diagnosing me after I was initially misdiagnosed by my family doctor. I was experiencing numbness and pain in my right hand and was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, told to wear a brace and assured that it would improve within a few weeks. Within a few weeks however, the tingling and numbness had worsened and had spread to my left hand at which point the doctor assured me that it was common to experience the symptoms in both hands. The doc told me that eventually, if the brace, and wrist stretching exercises, didn't work surgery might do the trick. I was not confident about this initial diagnosis, in part because of how quickly it was made. So, I saw Dr. Fish for a second opinion. It was the best decision I ever made! Dr. Fish discovered that the pain and tingling was referring from my neck and shoulders - after one treatment I was symptom-free for the first time! The symptoms returned, but improved over time, but more importantly his treatment give me hope for the first time that my symptoms were temporary. His ongoing treatment has allowed me to keep working and be pain-free most of the time - despite two serious set-backs resulting from separate car accidents. I am truly grateful for his expertise and insight not only because it saved me from possible unnecessary surgeries, but also because his treatment allowed me to keep working at the career I love (I spend hours in front of a computer every day). After several weeks of no diagnosis and no treatment for my severe eye pain I made my way to see Dr Fish. I had seen 4 other doctors who ran lab tests and different imaging tests but who had never really listened to me. Doctor Fish spent more time in that first appointment than the others had in multiple visits. He listened to my symptoms and thought outside the box to get at the root of my pain. By the end of the first appointment I had less pain than I had had in weeks and had more hope for recovery. He continued to research causes for my pain and try different techniques over the course of several visits. I'm not one to write Yelp reviews -- in fact, this is my very first one. It needs to be said: Dr. Fish has helped me in ways I didn't think possible. I've suffered with severe lower back pain for years. I've consulted with my general practitioner, and I've seen numerous chiropractors and massage therapists. I was referred to Dr. Fish by my current general practitioner. Dr. Fish did the most thorough exam on me that I've ever had. He pinpointed some of my other general aches and pains (I slouch like basically everyone else who uses a computer all day for work), and we talked about how to help with those. Curiously enough, when he applied pressure to my lower abdomen, pain shot through to my back. He didn't adjust me that day, but wound up referring me to my OB/GYN, who in turn discovered that I was suffering from ovarian cysts which were ultimately the cause of much of my pain. I had been having various joint pains for the better part of a year, but recently one of my knees had swelled up and became uncomfortable and was not showing signs of going away. I had gone to a walk-in clinic as well as a prominent hospital, and they both diagnosed me with a knee sprain. They suggested physical therapy, and I was told Dr. Fish was pretty good for that. Dr. Fish examined me, told me he did not think that it was a knee sprain, and given my other symptoms suggested running some blood tests before trying to treat my knee. The tests came back very positive for Lyme disease. Dr. Fish referred me to a doctor who was experienced with Lyme who treated me for several months (apparently I'd had Lyme for some time and it was not quickly cleared out of my system). I am glad that I went to see Dr. Fish, and that he had the insight to help me get the right diagnosis. He is definitely not your average Chiropractor. read more
