It's much smaller than I…read moreexpected, but I with so many libraries within the Cincinnati region, I'm sure you can find just about any book and get it via placing it on hold. -- So do plan ahead if you're trying to find a specific book, you may want to check out the online catalog first to track it down. The reason I first went in was to print some papers and I forget how many copies you can get for free, but you can get a good amount of not just black and white but also color! So helpful for this gal that does not own a printer. The staff has also been super friendly! To get a library card you'll have to first apply online for a temporary card and then make your way in to receive the physical copy. Again, staff is so helpful. The top level is the main (adult) section. I enjoyed the fun feature: "What your Neighbors are Reading". Downstairs there's a little fish pond and children's section. Parking lot is in the back and is again smaller, but fits for the size of the building.

Free parking is available behind the library. The rear entrance is handicap accessible. It enters…read moreinto the children's section of the library. If using that entrance for the handicap accessibility, proceed all the way forward, that is where the elevators will be to take you to the regular library. There is also a night/after hours drop slot back there. The children's section is one of the cutest ones I have seen. There is a whimsical mural that wraps around the area. Various small chairs are peppered about, as are a selection of toys. Computers are available for children to play learning games. At the far end, (if standing at the rear entrance,) is a water feature. The small pond includes Koi fish. I am not fond of the fact that this branch is on multiple floors. We usually visit multiple sections of the library. Sometimes my older children will vist one area while my younger one and I visit another. When they are only an aisle or two away, I am comfortable with this arrangement. Having them be on separate floors I am not comfortable with. On the flip side, I can understand people who are visiting the library for a quiet place to work seeing this arrangement as preferable.

I also really appreciate that there are always people around actually studying and reading, it has such a good, focused atmosphere. The selection is great too, not just books but DVDs, magazines, and plenty of other materials. One of my favorite things is their reading challenges. I just finished the winter reading challenge and got a free mug and tote bag, which was such a fun bonus. They always seem to have something engaging going on. This library is a gem!

I use to enjoy going to this library, because it was quiet and I didn't have to worry about being…read morebothered by the staff. After yesterday, I don't feel safe there at this branch any more. I was using the study room to work on some research that I was doing for something that I'm currently working on for myself, (which the room is free, if it is available/not reserved when you want to use it). When I came out of the study room, because I had a library book that I was done using and wanted to return it back to the library. As I was walking over to where you can return books, these two guys (one of which I know works at a different branch of the county library system) and another guy talked to me in such a way that I felt like they were mocking me or even making fun of me for using the study room at all. It wasn't like I was disturbing anybody while I was using the study room at all -- I just needed a bigger table to work at, (because I wanted more space to use both my lap top AND my large binders, due to me doing some research and having hard copies that take up some space on a table). The way that the second guy was asking me how I enjoyed using the study room, I took it to mean that he wanted me to immediately get out of the room and out of the building entirely, which I came right out and asked him if that was what he was implying to me. The guy responded that he didn't want me to leave, but where he and the other guy were laughing at me for being in the study room and quietly working on my research in there, it made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. I quickly cleaned up my stuff from inside the study room shortly thereafter and left to head home, feeling quite unhappy and almost violated by those two guys.

These days they are more like computer labs, video stores, Best Buys, and coffee shops rolled into one. Langsam, the largest of 14 UC libraries (includes Blue Ash, aka Raymond Walters and Clermont), is a great place to study/research, or just casually read. Need help? They will get you on the right path and usually save you hours of fruitless attempts at research. Need more help and are not on campus? There really is a ton of great resources available to those wanting to learn and grow. The hot spot for UC students! For me, Langsam is probably the most frequented place I go to besides…read moremy home (guilty... as I'm sitting here writing this review). They've made renovations here over the past couple of years, with more areas for students to sit and study - or check Facebook - and now the availability to check out Cincinnati Public Library popular books! Very convenient service, I just finished Gone Girl and Khaled Hosseini's new book. But despite the large size of UC's main library, it's often crowded and sometimes noisy (exam weeks). Favorite spots include: - the study rooms - 1st floor back room with open windows and large tables - individual desks on 500 and 600 levels w/ outlets and lamp - quiet study area sometimes It's an old building, but I appreciate that the university is renovating it! Staff and librarians are helpful. Open until 11pm Monday through Thursday and Sunday and until 6pm Fridays and Saturdays with a 24/7 computer lab for those long nights ;)

I was a little disappointed in this library. With some of the newer libraries in the area (like…read moreNewport and Independence), I guess I'm a little jaded. It was plenty busy when I was there on an afternoon between 4-5 p.m. I like that most (if not all) of the library branches in N. KY seem to be open seven days a week. That was not the case where I lived in E. TN. Anyway, I sought out this branch because of a little blip I saw in some local publication about a Princess Diana exhibit. I expected more than a couple of glass bookshelves with paper dolls, some magazine covers and some collector plates. I would have appreciated some related biographies, newspaper article clippings, etc. But back to the library itself, nice children's area and plenty of public use computers.
