This elementary school is in the Covington Independent Public School district. Although much of the…read moreschool appears to be very old, it has obviously been updated and remodeled over the years. My affiliation with the school is through my employer, Gateway Community & Technical College. Gateway has a mentoring relationship with the school and is involved in various activities there. I participated in a book club with a 5th grade class and also in a book-making group for younger students. The staff seems very caring and involved.

Weather it be Consciously or Unconsciously Even the Principal. Mrs. Black. Who is not only a Extraordinary Woman, seeming in her Home Life and her Business Life. I am happy I attended this school. Happy first day of the 2018-2019 school year! We are a transplant family that recently moved from…read moreCincinnati Public Schools to Forest Hills. We purposely moved here for the schools, Turpin and Sherwood. This summer was full of preparation for our current Sophomore son. You start by doing all of the online registration and then drop off all the important paperwork at the district office (see my review for there, too). A few weeks before school started, we were invited in by the counselor to create a class schedule. The counselor was so kind and thorough, helping explain the in's and outs of the school to us. Fast forward to new parent orientation: the staff gave us a very detailed overview of Turpin and everything it has to offer. A few days later, our son went to the new student orientation where he learned how the schedules work, where to go on the first day and how to succeed at this school. We have been SO pleased with the staff from this school. A week before school started, there was an open house type event where you could tour the school from 8a-8p! It was so nice to be able to freely walk through the school and find lockers/classroom! This is a very busy campus! Lots of active students who have Turpin pride! On the first day of school, the teachers and staff were outside cheering for the students. It is so obvious that the staff at Turpin cares about their kids. I am so, so proud to be a Turpin mom and our family loves this school district so far. The principal went out of his way to give us his personal phone number so we could have one more walk through of the school over the weekend if we wanted it. Now that is someone who cares!!!!

We went from a private school in Anderson worried that we would have a lot of trouble going to a…read morepublic school after so many years and we were so wrong. Turpin has been amazing and my daughter finally feels like she has found some people like her. Her classes are wonderful and grades have remained good. She did have a lot of homework freshman year but it has seemed to settle down and be exactly the right amount of homework now. The teachers have always been on top of communication in regards to my daughter having ADD and any help she may require for tests and homework. In the three years here we have never had a bad teacher. The principal is amazing along with all the vice principals, they are top of any issues I may have in regards to testing or SAT or ACT questions or any other basic question. We are so happy here and the community is great.

My son just completed his second session with Happy Feet. We found them because there aren't many…read moreactivities for 2 year olds and they start as young as 18 months. This is my experience in Little Toes; I think the experience for older kids is pretty different. Our first session was on Sunday mornings alternating 9 am and 10 am. There were only about 7 kids playing at once, so it wasn't too bad when a few of them weren't listening, etc. We liked that our son was playing with new kids and learning team work, and enjoyed it enough to sign up a second time. This session, we did Saturday mornings at 9 am and they had way too many kids. I'd estimate there were at least 15 kids (maybe more) when everyone was there and it was just way too many. While everyone seems very nice, some of the coaches just aren't as loud and can't wrangle the kids as well. Coach Ben had a great rapport with the kids and seemed to get them into the activity better. One thing that is frustrating with this age group is the amount of parents who go on the field and don't let the Happy Feet coaches do their job. They follow their kids around or just stand on the wall, get in the way to take photos from the field, and so on. We get an email each week from Happy Feet asking the parents to stay off the field unless their kid really needs them, but it is ignored by some. I counted seven parents on the field today and it becomes a safety issue at that point with everyone going in different directions. Now that our son is older, I think we'll try some other programs, but we were glad to have had the experience and glad Happy Feet gets started with such young toddlers.

They are a very customer service oriented company and do their best to make sure the customer is happy. My son got the extra instruction he needed and was successful in both Calculus II and Physics. My wife found this little preschool about a week-and-a-half before their school year started. Now…read moreexactly how and where she found it I'm not sure, but I'm sure glad she did. This tiny, private, church-sponsored preschool is nothing like what you might expect. We sent our two oldest here, and we plan on sending our two youngest as well. From the outside, it has the appearance of a 19th century one-room school house. But of course that's now what it is on the inside. There is a large activity room when you first enter (the Big Room), but the first floor also has an administrative office as well as two classrooms. The basement has been converted and has a storage area and two additional classrooms as well. And outside behind the school is a nice sized playground area that's perfect for kids of that age. The staff here is amazing. All of the teachers are certified, so they're trained and know what they're doing. They keep up to date on the latest trends and research that takes place in regards to preschool education methods, practices, and philosophies. And they're also just wonderful with the kids. I've heard stories where parents weren't all that pleased with a church-affiliated preschool because the teachers were basically church members either volunteering or helping out. Thankfully this was not the case for us. The education here is first rate and top quality. There are three different choices in regards to class time. Full week (five days), three days, or two days. And of course they're all half days so it's either a morning or afternoon session. There is no all day preschool. There are numerous activities that take place throughout the year that parents can come and enjoy, and there are a number of opportunities where parents can volunteer to help chaperone small little trips that classes take. When our two oldest started kindergarten, their teachers told my wife and I that they were so far ahead of the other students in their respective classes. And as smart as I know my kids to be, I also know that their time at the Village Preschool was a direct result of this as well. It's a wonderful place to send you kids, and if you're looking, I say look no more. Mahalo, and enjoy.

Yesterday (Sunday) I needed to work and on my way saw that the congregation was on their way in. People were smiling and conversing and it appeared they were very much pleased to be attending. Work was complete early yesterday so on my way home I stopped in for evening service. Come to find out I was about 30 minutes early but I went in anyway and mingled with some of the gentlemen who apparently came early to do just that. Very friendly and personable folk there. As others came in, I was greeted warmly by each one as they passed and never even realize that I was wearing a ball cap and smelly jeans (from working that day). These people were the real thing! The lesson was well thought out and came from Acts 4:5-14. The title could have been "What's in a name." The Worship Leader pointed out 6 things found in the name of Jesus (Authority vs. 5-7, Ability vs. 8-10, Acceptance vs.11, Adequacy vs.12, Amazement vs.13 and Absolve vs. 14). I believe this was part of a series in that only the first was covered, but notes were available for further study so that worked out well. This was interactive and a couple of the scripture verses shared by those attending were Romans 5:2, and Galatians 6:9 both appropriate for the topic. I left the church with re-newed hope feeling as though I had been administered to by the Holy Spirit. Thank you Cold Springs for being faithful ... even to a stranger who was wearing a ball cap in doors and smelling of hot dogs. : ) I would recommend you to anyone who is in need of Christian fellowship and craving Audible Words from God (the bible read out loud).
