In the oddball docks/ industrial area/ harbour front/ condo hell area next to Queens Quay East with traffic in plain sight, and cyclists whizzing by on the trail going to Cherry Beach. It's not somewhere I would think of going to hang out by the water, as there are quieter spots within a short walk that seem nicer, but I was with my cherished 5AM Club group and it was right near summer solstice in June with the longest days and all, we were in touch with the universe, yada yada so we trudged along the water's edge heading east from our yoga spot under the trees at Harbour Square Park East. So there we were at Sugar Beach yo. There was one crazy dude screaming at the lake from the dock, so okay, he seems harmless... Then, after doing our karma 5AM stuff, and it was 45 minutes after that when we stumbled upon a small party group at Sugar Beach. They were still up from a Monday night of shenanigans so they figured why not start a small fire for roasting marshmallows, which would pair well with their beer and spliffs. We decided to join them for a roasted marshmallow and snapped a couple pics. Was a lot of fun and who says Toronto isn't a friendly place to hang out? Ya gotta be creative with your destinations, that's all.

There is street parking as well as Green P. Usually on a nice day, the area is very busy so parking is hard to find. A handful of restaurants, food trucks one cafe, Tim Hortons closely around. There are a few benches but mostly people will sit on the rocks or ground.

one of the better parks in Toronto and I dare anyone to tell me a better view of the skyline…read more(Toronto islands doesn't count). a really good section of lake Ontario that is separate from the east and the west park at the foot of some condos. home to the famous driftwood Toronto sign (rest in peace) and the tanning man driftwood piece (rest in peace) this small park is really quiet from a noise standpoint and from a traffic standpoint. a really good place to capture sunrise's in the Toronto, bonus dramatic points if you can get some clouds or scattered clouds around the area. also a great place to do yoga or some meditation. parking is available on the streets and in the pay parking lot. transit options are the 501 queen bus/streetcar and the 66B bus.

I recently returned to my old neighbourhood on a rare Monday off from work. I should do it more…read moreoften! I grew up in The Beaches. One of the beaches (yes, it's plural and I will never call it The Beach - ick!) is Woodbine Beach. I lived in an apartment on Queen Street East until I graduated from high school. I lived three minutes away by foot, at most, from this beach. I went to Kew Beach Public School and spent many outings here. Woodbine Beach will always have a special place in my heart. The Leuty Lifeguard Station, affectionately known as The Leuty, still lives on. It had an issue with it sinking a while back, but seems to be fortified more when I took a look. As the name implies, it's at the base of Leuty Avenue. Several feet away from The Leuty are a couple of chairs. You can sit and enjoy Lake Ontario. They were already taken when I was there. I have never been a sunbather. I tend to be more of an active beachgoer who does stuff and forgets that my sunscreen needs re-application! It is a habit of mine, when it's warm out, to walk on the boardwalk and sand. I did both last week. I also have a habit of taking photos while I'm down there. My mom and I spent many weekends strolling, playing, and taking photos of the area when I was growing up. I am glad that she established this fine ritual and I continue to do it. When there are Victoria Day fireworks at Ashbridges Bay, seeing the fireworks at Woodbine Beach is another fond memory that I have. The view is perfect ,and it's nice to do it with friends and family. There are volleyball nets further west of The Leuty. I also spent many summers swimming at the Donald D. Summerville Olympic Pool. One final memory is spending some time with three of my friends in grade 11. I had a small pocket radio. My friend had it blasting in her jacket pocket. Bob Marley's "Get Up Stand Up" was playing and we all sang it loudly as we walked along the boardwalk. Older me apologizes to everyone listening to our singing. However, it's a moment that I cherish. These days, I drop by to reminisce. In the past, I'd come here to relax, think, and unwind. I still do all these things these days, but not often enough. Woodbine Beach always screams home to me. There were a number of folks riding their bikes and jogging. I drove over here and didn't have a problem finding a parking spot on the street on an early Monday afternoon. It's a nice beach to visit. It's huge, so there isn't an issue practising physical distancing when you are here. (377)

The older spot has more shade and better swimming than the newer beach, while the newer spot is more of a social gathering.

Ward's is great for kids and group gatherings as it's basically a huge open playground: plenty of park space, playgrounds,beach, coffee shops, restaurants, cafes. If you want to rent bikes you'll have to go to the main part of the island, Centre Island, but it is easy to get across the whole island once you do. Ward's for me is much more enjoyable as it's less crowded and still has all the amenities.

Beautiful islands, easily reachable by ferry from downtown Toronto…read more I love coming here by the earliest ferry when the weather is nice, and leaving before the crowds hit around 10-11am. Early morning, it's quiet and peaceful and all the birds are out singing. The beaches are also empty at that time, giving you plenty of breathing room to just sit and admire the beautiful waves and water. You could dip your toes too, but Lake Ontario is not that warm, heh. The sand dunes have eroded in recent months due to high water levels, but conservation efforts are taking place. And I know cormorants get a lot of hate, but they are magnificent birds. Watching them fish, and take off from the water is quite a sight. Please don't let this gem be ruined by the province's plan for a bigger airport. Protect our nature, appreciate it while we can, and leave it for future generations...

pavilion is a bit of a weird word...more like a park, or playground, or just a nice place to relax…read more when the lake doesn't smell terrible its a great place to come and mellow out, watch people work out, or watch the traffic slowly crawl by. bring some food and a blanket and just watch the day waste away, in the summer time a couple of snack shops are open, ice cream and pizza pizza, if im not mistaken. the beach is a great place to catch a tan, or trees if you want to catch some shade, I would NOT recommend swimming in the lake under any circumstance. lots of parking but you have to pay for it, transit options is the 501 streetcar with a bit of walking, and lots of room even in the busiest of months. the bathrooms are sometimes in a poor state, and sometimes not open. a great place to spend the day at, ultimate relaxation. sunrise's and sunset's are absolutely gorgeous here, bring a camera to catch the views and colors.
