We watched a while as local council workers placed flowers into the huge metal dinosaurs strategically placed near the sea front. This is village France where small towns are festooned with beautifully maintained and a magnificent array of shrubs, flowers, bushes and trees. Though it's a smallish town it has plenty of food choices, restaurants, chocolate shops around the centre and the locals were out eating in force at lunch time. We went from place to place reading menus to find ideas to dine. My wife is very fond of smoked salmon and here it was being offered in a galette (a buckwheat savoury crepe) with a lemon cream (€8). I had a cheese & apple galette €7.60) after considering their scallop & cognac offering. As I was eating this tasty pancake the waitress passed by with the scallop & cognac type and I regretted at that point not ordering it but the regret vanished quite quickly as I turned back to my choice. The food was simply delicious and it was quickly served up. We also chose a bottle of organic local cider (€10) at 3 per cent proof to accompany the food and it was very drinkable. We finished off with a flambéed grand mariner (€5) and a butter crepe (€2). The restaurant itself looks like a converted house with the dining tables in the front parlour. A mostly rough stone interior with a stone tiled floor, solid wooden chairs and tables. Friendly staff with only a little English spoken. Really worth a visit or two. Sent from my iPad

We had a magnificent dessert crepe - see photo. We also thought the service was just fine. The young lady who served us was smiling and kind; she tolerated our stumbling French quite well. (I had the impression we were the only foreigners there.). I am not sure you would do well with no French language skills. The wait staff did not appear to speak English. If you come, consider the apple cider because that is the specialty of the region.
