Although this particular mall is not as well-lit or up-to-date as it's nearby counterpart, or, indeed, like other malls of better caliber in the other areas of Manila, Sta. Lucia caters to clients from all walks of life who are looking for items of all kinds as well. Here you will find a hodgepodge of items that can be good deals of higher-end products sold at bargain prices, or you may even find older items that are no longer sold at conventional stores anymore, and for a reasonable price. Food stalls are abundantly distributed along the mall and between the stores, and it is surprisingly bigger than it looks from the outside. So don't let appearances or first impressions fool you; being blind sometimes leads to a leap of faith.

I spent a lot of time here. As soon as you walk into the mall, it doesn't feel like you're in the Philippines anymore. The canal was nice to see during the day and at night. You can even take a gondola through the canal. They also have an area where you can feed pigeons seeds. They have a lot of the stores and the restaurants that we have in the US. I was joking around saying that I traveled 7200 miles to eat at a Denny's in the Philippines. Lol. And you know I had to hit up the Uniqlo here! Will I be back? Of course. Encircling this mall are apartments, condos and office towers. The mall offers a lot: a supermarket; bookstores; fast food and casual dining restaurants; a multi-screen movie theater; spaces for dance and play--and a lot of retail shopping. You can also buy tickets for a gondola ride or rent a swan boat. This location provided an opportunity for me to people watch; examine products and brands unfamiliar to me; and to price compare goods in the PHL, versus back home. It was interesting.

Local residents and buyers from neighboring cities alike flock to the "Lumang Palengke" and "New Taytay Market" to snap up really cheap clothes. I have been told by a friend that there are plenty of RTW and garments factories around Taytay and Cainta, and the factories often sell overruns and rejects in the "bagsakan", which then distribute the wares to the "tiangge" sellers in the old and new market. People have their different opinons about which location is the best, but I find that the New Public Market, near the McDonalds in the highway leading to Angono, Rizal , sell more menswear and casual clothing. The suki buyers swear by the quality and the durability of the stuff from the tiangges, and I couldn't agree more. I have bought several sweaters, t-shirts and hoodies at such ridiculously low prices. I once walked out of there with 13 pieces of clothing, which I bought for roughly P800 only. How is that not a good deal? All you need is a trusty pair of shoes, lots of patience and a bit of your haggling skills so that you can get great discounts from the sellers.

It's only 20 mins away without any traffic; 30-40 minutes would be the most it would take to get there. A typical SM mall, it's got a department store, a supermarket, an event hall, and a cinema. In terms of parking, you can almost always find a slot, as it is rarely completely full here. There's nothing special or out of the blue with this particular SM branch, what's convenient with this branch is its proximity to people living in Rizal. It's quite easy to commute to different places from SM Taytay; almost every jeep that passes through stops by there to pick up some passengers on their way to Cubao. It may not be much, but it's enough for your basic mall needs.
