Broken ignition. Never heard of it, never expected it. The AAA guy who towed my car on New Year's Eve told me it was probably because my key was worn out. But it turned out to be more than that. AA Affordable Locksmith gave it try, and determined that it was not the key. The ignition was the problem spot, not a shocking result with a 16-year-old car. AA (Richard) recommended Keyman Hawaii (Robert). I called the Keyman this morning, and by 10 am he was hard at work on a new key and repairing the ignition. By 12:30 or so, he was done and everything was back to normal. After being stuck since New Year's Eve, I was on the road again, just in time for a busy week on the job. Last year a friend was painting my son's house and he accidentally locked his keys in his truck which still had the engine on. Being that I used the Keyman's service 4 previous times, years ago, and was happy as I wrote his 4th review years ago and told him that he had 3 previous great reviews on Yelp. Naturally I called him and he quoted a reasonable price and was coming from Waikiki to Palisades. I did inform him that my friend was trying to use a hanger to open his truck door and if he should open his door before the Keyman arrived that I would still pay him however would it still be full price. He immediately responded saying...,forget it, I'm not coming out. I said that he has been unsuccessful, but he gets close. Keyman just hung up on me. I tried calling him back 2x and he refused to answer. His rates are reasonable but his service went from a 10 to a 0. Very disappointing. read more

I'd like to say that I'm pretty competent and handy when it comes to fixing any household appliances, dental hand pieces, building outdoor sheds etc. I've always hated my ugly old bedroom door and door knobs, so I decided take my door apart and changed out everything. Everything went smoothly as expected and I was off to work in a matter of minutes. Imagine my horror when I arrived home later that night to find that I had locked myself out of my room. I had unknowingly locked my door on my way out and totally forgot that I left my new set of keys inside my room.......on my dresser. Sonafa.... After an hour of trying to pick the door using various tools and breaking a crapload of credit cards in the process, I decided to give Robert a call. He answered right away and luckily was in my neighborhood. He arrived within 20 mins and within 2 seconds, picked my door open. TWO F'NG SECONDS! Cost me $80 but I was desperate and it still was cheaper than me having to break my door down, lol. He was literally in/out of my house in a matter of a minute. So quick and stealth that none of my family members (who were home at the time) even knew that I had even locked myself out, HA!! Sadly my proud achievement was only short-lived. A ton of misfortunate events were happening to me a last week and the most recent was locking my car keys AND my cellphone in my car. Luckily someone lent me their phone so I could call my BF for help. He got a hold of Mr. Keyman for me and then Mr. Keyman came to the rescue! I was afraid he wouldn't find me since there was absolutely no way to get ahold of me. Phone locked inside the car with my keys, remember? But I gave my BF my general location/details for Mr. Keyman and he found me! He got to work right away and also gave me a brief walkthrough of what he was doing. After trying trying my passenger door, the door was too tight so we went over to the driver side. After about 10 minutes, he got my door open and I was good to go! Can't even explain how happy I was! Locked myself out but luckily someone else had a key to get in. Locked myself out AGAIN (I kid you not!! Same day!!!)....but now I'm locked out with the person that opened the door the first time!!!!! Calling around to get some quotes for someone to unlock the door. **it's 11 pm but hell no are we paying more than we have 2!!!** Keyman was probably the 3rd call...no answer...about to call another locksmith....when Keyman calls back and gave us the lowest quote. The bf thought there was no way Keyman was going to unlock the front door & thought we were going to be there for a while. BUT we walked thru the door in about 5 min!! If you have MOPED key issues, this is the place to call! This is my first ever Yelp review, because I was just so relieved and happy with how fast he was able to fix my situation! I called MULTIPLE locksmiths and none of them could make a new key for my moped. One other company told me they could if I removed an entire part of my moped and brought that to them. I called Keyman, told them my situation, and asked if they could help. He said "absolutely!". He even came to me, I didn't have to worry about transporting the moped. He showed up in my driveway and made a new key right there in less than 20 minutes. It was a little pricey because of the fact that I needed him to come to me, but so worth it! The BEST!! I called AA locksmith and they came down.. took him 2 hrs just to tell me he wasn't able to make me a car key. I searched and called around, and no one was available. I had to get a key cut of my Accord that was stuck in Waikiki. So my lady googled up a mobile locksmith and called Keyman Hawaii. We gave him the information over the phone and was quoted a price. He was able to meet me at my car and only took 15mins to do so. Went to him a few months back to get a chip key made for my GMC Canyon. I had to come back twice, (it takes 45 minutes each time) because he couldn't program it properly. The third time it worked. He made 2 keys. I put one in a hide a key box and the other in my drawer. I locked my keys in my car the other day, so I pulled out the key hidden on my truck. It doesn't work! I had to call Pop A Lock to get my door opened. I then tried the key in my drawer and it doesn't work either. I call him and he said to take them to dealer and have them reprogramed. So I reluctantly did. The parts and service manager tried to program them both. Neither one worked, he said they were both defective chip key blanks. He told me this happens all the time with customers bringing in after market keys that go sour after being programed. He said he never had a case where the after market key reprogrammed. I called Keyman and asked for a refund for his defective keys. He refused to step up and take responsibility and give me the refund like a legitimate business would do. This guy has no morals and sells defective keys. NO STARS. read more

Just had a lock out at the office called 24hrlocksmith and the guy told me that I would have to wait 45 min for to come and it would cost $155!! for one lock!!! and then he toldme nobody would do it for less than that. Had an emergency situation this morning with my Toyota Camry where the ignition cylinder was locked and I couldn't get it started. I called around to several mechanics and even the Toyota Dealership where they quoted me $800 and saying I would have to find a way to get down there and it would be a full day's work. Called up Robert and he came out to me in about 30 minutes and went straight to work. He removed the entire ignition and rebuilt it, and even made me a spare key that would guarantee work in case my 15 year old key got damaged or lost. He did the entire repair within 30 minutes, simply amazing. The entire job cost about $250, which compared to the $800 from servco is an absolute bargain, plus he came out to me rather than having to find a tow truck myself. Made a rookie surfer mistake today, wiped out and lost my jeep key. I called the Keyman and he quoted me a very reasonable price and was on site in 15 minutes.
