In my travels around the Maritime Provinces, I've come across far more A&W's than I have in the…read moreStates. I decided I had to try one to see what might be different about an A&W in Canada. This particular one wound up being convenient on a day trip. The menu has been given a face-lift since the last time I visited one (several years ago on Cape Cod). There is a large variety of burgers, and many of them are listed as sirloin burgers. Now in the U.S., there is a rule that ground sirloin must all come from the same cow. If that is the case in Canada as well, then you're getting a better quality burger than regular hamburger. But because I've had burgers several times the last few days, I opted for a grilled chicken combo instead (roughly $10.45 after taxes). I was pleased to have an option for a side salad instead of fries. While I could have switched my drink to bottled water for about 7 cents more - which I normally would have done - I decided to stick with that good old A&W Root Beer because it's been a while since I've had it. It's served in a frosty mug here. I can't remember if we still get our A&W served in a frosty mug in the states. The other thing I liked is that the grilled chicken sandwich came on what appeared to be a honey wheat & oat bun as opposed to a regular white bread bun. By the quality of the food alone, this would have been 4 stars. But this particular restaurant was a little behind cleaning tables after customers, and the men's room needed some maintenance. But generally speaking, if I'm traveling through the Maritime Provinces, and I feel the need for a fast food burger, I'll pick A&W over McDonald's, Wendy's, or Burger King now that I've visited one.

The chicken sandwich was very dry but acceptable. The nuggets were fantastic however. The workers are very polite and reasonably quick but forgot the correct sauces for dipping. Always remember to check your order. The inside of the place is normally packed with people and shares the space with Tim Hortons.

The menu has a handful each of apps, soups and salads, and burgers, plus about ten classic diner entrees. My first visit had me coming by for a late lunch, so I opted for a diner standard - the club sandwich. It was fairly quiet at the restaurant, so my food came out in quick order. The long fries were hand-cut, and on the darker side of golden brown. They were decent, but could have used a blanching in water to remove excess starch and then a double frying to make them crisper. It's hard to have a straight up bad club sandwich, and it's almost even harder to have a truly great one. Like many other restaurants, P&C's falls somewhere in the middle. The bacon was good and crisp, and while the turkey was house-roasted, I wouldn't call it an overly generous portion. The bread was toasted enough that it held up well, but didn't eviscerate my mouth, and a pleasant amount of mayo held things together. A return visit had me coming by with my wife for a late lunch on the weekend. The menu switches modes to have an all day breakfast section, as well as some of their regular items that are available after 11:30am. Leaning toward the breakfasty items, I went for the classic western omelette, while my wife opted for the Coop Deville, a fried chicken sandwich. The crowd was waning as we had arrived in the last couple hours of them being open for the day, so our food arrived quickly. My omelette was a delicious hot mess, with the added-on cheese amping up that mess factor significantly. The eggs had some nice browning like a good dinner omelette does, without being tough or rubbery. I appreciated that the home fries were hand cut, but they were greasy and not where they should have been for crispness. My wife's Coop Deville was a solid fried chicken sandwich - a thick chicken breast with a crisp coating, good amount of bacon, and a hint of sweetness from honey butter, all in a soft and squishy potato bun! P&C's could use a little polishing on their fried potato fare, but they're still a nice little diner that's using some more modern dishes to breathe some life into a familiar format.

Found plastic in a meal on March 6th. Called and was advised I'd get a call back , no one did call…read moreme so I called again , no response, filled out a complaint with McDonald's.ca got a call back advising me that somebody else would call me , no response, so I called the store again they took my info and no response so I filled out another complaint form a mcdonalds.ca. after that somebody got back to me and left a voicemail with a phone number saying if somebody didn't come through with a resolved to contact them I waited a week there was no resolution so I called the phone number and left a voicemail no response back since then I've called the store 4 or 5 times and I've talked to Leslie who has forwarded my information on to the general manager who has no desire to contact me back. I advise Leslie that I would call every day until somebody got back to me and she pleaded that there was nothing she could do it was the next higher up. I advised her to maybe tell the person in charge that because I'm calling her all the time and bugging her that she can't do her job. At this point she seems exhausted with me contacting her but come on it is now July 7th hopefully this review is seen by this higher up person and they can pull their head out of their backside and contact me
