THIS REVIEW IS OF THE QUALITY OF FOOD ALONE!!! I am actually from western NY, within 50 miles of where Buffalo Wings became famous and every western New Yorker knows a good chicken wing and I have only ever found one place in the UK with good enough wings for them to remind me if home... But now I've found another!!! I've been seeing this business prepare for opening over the last few wings and when I realised it was an American Wing Restaurant I was so excited as it's right on my way home! The chicken wings were the right size, had the right crisp and succulence and the buffalo bliss sauce was reminiscent of the Anchor Bar(birthplace of buffalo wings) itself. I was given 5 wings and wedges in what I believe will be one of the menu items. It didn't come with Bleu cheese as standard (which might have been for the pre-opening event..idk) , but I didn't ask for it so I will make sure to do so next time. It did come with coleslaw, though...which I didn't really see the point of, lol! Oh yeah hey have burgers and per menu items, I'll unlikely be trying these soon as wings are now so close to home. Anyway, the opening is on the 5th of November and there is 20% off so I will most certainly be there to get some good wings again.., eventually when they are fully trained, I will update this on service too!

We were feeling a little peckish but not massively so, so Scott and I decided to get a few small plates to share. Hummus and Crispbreads with walnuts: it was okay, nowhere near enough Hummus and the Crispbreads weren't great. I wouldn't have this again. Chicken wings: can't go wrong with chicken wings, they were crisp and full of flavor. The ailoi was nice too. Yerba Smoked Beef: now this was a delight! Portion was quite small but it more than made up for it in flavour. I think this was my favourite out of the dishes. Empanadas. We had a ground beef and and chorizo and cheese Empanada and they were both divine. Decent size, the pastry was thick but light at the same time and didn't give us a heavy feeling afterwards. Highly recommended. I had a drink of the homemade lemonade, which at £2.95 I thought was outrageous. It was essentially a glass of water with a bit of lemon squeezed in, plus a stick thyme as a garnish. Tasteless and not worth it. Overall I'd give Cau 3.5 stars. It was good, but my experience at the one in Amsterdam was excellent.

It was my last night in Brighton and I had done loads of research and came upon this place, it's fairly new so not too many locals new about it but I decided to give it a try. The service was a little slow, one guy working but the food was way too fucking good. You have the option of wings with different sauces or fried chicken burgers. THEY ALSO HAVE VEGAN OPTIONS. I decided to order the Hot as Cluck burger with Fried Potato skins & 2 sauces. WOW.... I'm not even sure if I can use my words to describe how good this was. The thigh fillet was so juicy, moist and flavourful, the coating was crispy but the breading was evenly spread. It was topped with pickles, lettuce, & spicy chipotle slaw. As a side I got the fried potato skins... fuck French fries - these were insanely good. They were fully cooked, had a great crisp to it and a bit chewy. They were seasoned perfectly. I also decided to get 2 of the homemade sauces. The Thai basil & jalapeño creamy sauce and the Sweet Soy & Ginger. They were perfection. The Thai basil went great with the potatoes and I would splash a bit of the soy on the chicken burger. Now the most important part is after I had finished I didn't feel gross, I didn't feel as though I had eaten junk food! That's called quality right there. Please check this place out! Keep Eating, Angela

On Tuesday evening we ventured in to Five World Kitchen…read morewhich opened last Thursday evening. We had in a hand a flyer for 20% off. It's a new international Banquet & Bar, fixed price dining restaurant. You can find it where Mamma Mia used to be, nearly opposite The Opera House. Firstly, my experience shows the photos on their website in no way resemble the food served, and there are lot of dishes on the 'theatre kitchen' menu which were not available. There was one other party in the restaurant when we entered. We were told a large group were coming in later so we didn't get our first choice of table, however, we did manage to negotiate window seats. The first thing we noticed (other than the dead, dried up flower decoration on our table) was the poor finish to the décor; areas not painted and holes left where things used to be. We ordered house white wine which was pleasant and a jug of tap water which came in a stylish jug. After asking, the waitress explained we could order a starter and a main from the menu, or we could mix and match with the menu and buffet or just have the buffet everything is the same price. I chose prawn cocktail which did not come with the garlic crostini listed in the menu. It had a nice decoration of fine carrot, which I found fiddly to cut as the cocktail was presented in a very tall and thin cocktail glass and I was concerned about breaking it or knocking it over. There were only four medium size prawns, with a bland avocado mousse. I ate the four prawns with a little mousse and a lettuce leaf, before realising the lettuce hasn't been washed properly. I left the rest. My companion chose the Calamari with garlic mayo. The Calamari was like trying to eat the sole of a shoe very tough indeed. It was left. We faired a little better with the buffet. I selected hummus (couldn't see any pitta bread), mini spring rolls & Thai fish cake (frozen variety) stuffed tomatoes, mozzarella and tomato, feta and cucumber, mushrooms (not sure what they were in), and a disappointing attempt at vegetarian sushi (the rice was hard). My main course, Char-Grilled Cheese Beef Burger came in a burnt crispy bun, twice the size of the burger inside. It tasted nice though. The chips unfortunately tasted of fish so I left those and the salad garnish hadn't been washed properly. The coleslaw resembled a cheap and embarrassing affair you'd find in the economy range at a supermarket chain. So, apart from the burger, most of it was left. My companion tried the Black linguini pasta which came with 'hard' calamari so this was also left. Back to the buffet and this time I tried the various curry, rice and sweet and sour chicken. This was much better than the menu food and I thought some of it was up to Indian restaurant standard. My companion disagreed saying it was like a ready meal, however, he admitted liking the Thai red curry. Next, I tried the Noodle bar where you select what you would like the chef to cook, who cooks it and brings it to your table. Before I had taken a bite of mine I noticed a very large black hair running throughout the noodles. We attracted the attention of the waitress who went to speak to her manager, came back and asked if I would like one cooked again. I declined and we explained the rest of the meal was far from satisfactory. I was surprised waiting staff who hadn't noticed we left the starters and main course mainly untouched and at no time did it occur to anyone to ask whether everything was okay. After consulting again with the manager we were offered 30% off. We declined suggesting as we already had a 20% off voucher, 10% wasn't satisfactory. We settled at 50% off and left without sampling the desserts.

I did once have the burger which I did not like, the chips were bland and I have never gone a la carte again. But considering they are from India, I think they do a great job on the Indian food and I like the salad bar starter with the tomato and mozarella, and chickpeas. Drinks are normal prices and they servie white wine in an ice bucket which is a nice touch. They want you to have the buffet and then stuff from the A la Carte menu, which for me is too much, so now I just take small plates of curry and then when finished go up for more. I want to try the noodles bar soon. Well done Five ! You have done the old Mamma Mia restaurant proud.
