Unexpectedly in the vacinity, I directed a detour stopping here for a late lunch-slash-early dinner. No regrets. Never again will I slum it through the drive thru of a golden arch for a cheeseburger fix. This was the real deal - there was even coleslaw on this puppy. The bun was toasted to a crisp perfection, the right balance of ketchup to mustard and a meat patty that had some oomph to it. The shop itself reminds me of a fish and chip shop my family would visit growing up. That's to say its basic, no frills. It doesn't need it. Plus the food is without pomp and it all works to create a very distinct charm. Not a subway tile, wooden chair or metal light shade in sight! For less than $20 we got 2 burgers. A great novelty food night. If you're game go the Carolina Pack for $40 - buffalo wings, New York fries and ribs for 2 people.

Carolina Kitchen is a family business owned by an expat from South Carolina, Mike Perry, located on a quiet suburban street in Coopooroo. Already there is a massive following on their Facebook group, with regulars and new comers singing their praises for the Buffalo Wings and BBQ Ribs. Both times I've been for a Saturday lunch, we've booked to save us a table. The place fills up quickly, so if you have more than 2 people, I would definitely suggest booking ahead of time. The BBQ ribs are so juicy and covered in sauce, and the Buffalo wings pack a punch with the original spicy sauce. Dip the wings in the blue cheese dipping sauce to cool your mouth. They have a wide variety of different flavoured Coke, Dr Pepper and Fanta - flavours you don't usually get in Australia. Cherry Dr Pepper tastes like sugary baby Panadol, but I love it! For a serious feed you can either go with one of the Hoagies - a sandwich on a long, Sub roll - or a burger "All The Way". That means everything including onions. There's cheeseburgers, chicken burgers and hamburgers, as well as Hot Dogs. Unfortunately, during my last visit they didn't have any Pie for sale, but quite often they will be selling a Pumpkin, Cherry or Pecan pie by the slice. I did manage to place an order for a Pumpkin pie to take home for Christmas. $30 for a whole sweet pie - traditional American style Pumpkin pie!

We called ahead to book a table, though when we arrived we realised that it was more of a fast food establishment than a restaurant. The waitress was very friendly, she provided us with the menus and explained how we needed to go up to the counter to place the order. She recommended that we try the Pit Master Pack, since we had not eaten there before. This goes for $59.95, and the two cans of soft drink ended up costing a good $7. The Pit Master Pack consisted of ribs, quite a few buffalo wings, hand pulled pork, coleslaw and fries. It is a good serving for two people. I am not the biggest chicken wing fan, though enjoyed them, apart from there being a bit too much sauce. We chose the cheese covered fries, though they weren't that great, we probably should have gone with the plain fries. The food was nice, though far from mind blowing, which made the pricing hard to justify. We left a bit unsatisfied in terms of how full we were, and how much everything cost, even with the voucher. I personally wouldn't visit here again, it is not for me. I would only recommend this establishment to someone who was really into buffalo wings and ribs.

Seriously, the food here is not cheap. BUT - it is bloody good. When our order arrived my eyes drank in the beauty of my pulled beef roll, while hubby rubbed his hands with glee over his chilli hot dog and loaded fries. And the first bite made the pain of the cost fade away- amazing. Well worth it! In fact despite being hungry I I couldn't eat the whole thing as the servings are generous. When this joint first opened there were lines out the door and long waits, but we were one of only three diners at lunchtime today. The cute checked tablecloths and mustard with ketchup on the tables adds to the US of A atmosphere, the only downside to the location on a nice day is being serenaded by the traffic on the main road. Two thumbs up for the food. My wallet is still hurting but at least I'm so full I won't want dinner tonight.

Best Malaysian hawker food in Brisbane! We revisited this…read morerestaurant for Sunday lunch so that we could try the assam laksa which they only make on weekends. It was magnificent - a spicy, fishy, sour, fragrant soup topped with pineapple, cucumber & red onion. We also had some roti canai, belacan green beans and succulent fried chicken wings - which were all amazing. The flavours were so authentic and the prices are almost Malaysian too. 5 February 2017 Rating 4 This tiny cafe/restaurant serves authentic and good value Malaysian food. We shared a seafood laksa, fried noodles, assam fish with rice and the chicken wings and it was all delicious!! We'll be back to try some more dishes soon!!

The perfect starter to our meal. For the main, the beef Ho Fun was steaming hot with great texture, and had the perfect meat/veg/noodle ratio. The sliced beef was tender, and the vegetables added a nice fresh crunch to the dish. (Spring onion, bean sprouts) Jen asked the waitress for a recommendation who answered that the "Chefs special fried rice" was very popular and the most ordered fried rice dish. Naturally she ordered this, though, after placing our order, we sat waiting for what seemed an eternity between, my main (Ho fun) coming out, and the fried rice main. When it came out, it was hot, had a larger than average portion size, which compensated for it's absolute lack of anything good. This was made very apparent by the utter and pure disappointment in Jen's facial expression upon tasting this "Chefs special fried rice". Which was essentially a brown coloured steaming heap of MANURE, for $14. It tasteless with the absence of seasoning. We had our fingers crossed, for a moment of redemption when Jen pushed her spoon through the yolk of the fried egg which topped the dish, hoping for a runny flow of orange gold....but instead was met with a dry, chalky over cooked rubbery puck. The type of yolk that sticks in your throat. Abysmal. After two mouthfuls, the disappointment was too much for Jen, she battled with the idea of taking it home in a container, or to approach the staff to query whether something was missing. She was met with a defensive front of house, who proceeded to take the dish to the Chef which we could hear yelling "that's how it's supposed to taste". We were met with no compensation while the meal was dumped in the bin right in front of us. TLDR; SHITTY FRIED RICE, but get the Roti :) - Mike.
