I love the Bhai ji's here - Beautiful voice and very nice. Gurdwara is Always busy so there should be enough funds to make the worship room more tranquil and nicer. Seems like the committee is more focused on the food drive. Which is nice but lines are a few blocks on Fridays so it's difficult to get into parking for the Sikh community to get in and out. Furthermore, the locals mostly all non Sikhs don't get out of their cars and just drive through and are handed containers of food. Nice idea but I feel too caught up with using the funds to feed the non Sikh locals and not doing much for the youth especially the elderly. They were the first to start senior meetings but stopped them due to the seniors telling jokes and not cleaning up such as the plates. At least that's what I was told by a committee member when I asked. So they now meet up in Canoga park where they are not judged. I'm not being negative but hoping to raise awareness to be more open minded to use the funds to better our community esp in mental health and the youth and elderly. The main reason I decided to the post is because the shoes have been an ongoing problem. People tend to take off their shoes near the worship room. But the shoe racks are on the other side so by the time you walk over your feet are dirty. A foot wash might be a good idea or move the rack over. Three times now one of my family member has come home bare footed. When we went back my daughter's shoes were there so I picked them up and put the car. To our shock her shoes went missing again. Apparently this has been an ongoing issue with the Sangat. So many ladies told me it's happened to them and the shoes will be back in a week. People use them to walk to the bathroom or the shoe rack. So we checked all those areas. No shoes! So my daughter came home bare footed again. But what bothered me was a 80+ year old not finding her shoes and walking then leaving bare footed. I know her age bc I know the family. Let's take care of our own community first then go help others. I have been going to this temple for years now. I try to go either Friday or Sunday if I'm lucky enough to get Sunday off which is never. This temple is very welcoming to all religions and of all people. I have helped out a couple of times with giving to needy people at this temple. They do their part in giving to the community and the less fortunate. They have plenty of parking as well and even a basketball court somewhat. They almost always have food at the temple that is for everyone. Like I mentioned anyone is welcome to come visit, usually the have something going on, on a Friday night as well as a Sunday morning. Another thing to keep in mind is they do have school for younger children to learn Punjabi and the history of Punjab. Oh and cannot forget they have a playground for kids as well. It is the best Sikh temple devoted to teachings of Guru Granth Sahib and Sikh religion without any poitics unlike some others. Large gathering of Sikh and other communities visit here every Sunday to listen to Gurbani, participate in charity and community related works and partake in free food (Langer) served to all.
