However, outside the superficial, Britcha is anything but. The teachers in each classroom are very well supported. Each usually has one or two class aids. Additionally, students from the UA come to get some of their teaching hours there. They have a very welcoming environment and refer to children in gender neutral terms as "friends." They also have referrals for AZEip if your child needs it. This is NOT a money run business like you find at places like Adventure time with inconsistent staff. They even have rates for government employees. It took us 3 years to find the best place for our kiddo. Don't pass up Brichta without checking it out first. It is truly a west side gem. In addition to their regular curriculum they also offer enrichment class! During the day!!! While your little is already at school! Music! Sign Language! Spanish! Soccer! These are taught by actual instructors and coaches.

We love Montessori Learning School! Our son has been attending the toddler program for one year now…read moreand we've had such a positive experience. The program director and teachers have really gone above and beyond to help support our son's development. We were especially appreciative of their support during potty training and learning to use gentle hands with peers. I have loved the emphasis on building independence and our son does a great job with putting on clothes/shoes, mealtime routines, cleaning up messes, etc. The students have "jobs" they select and complete, and these tasks have helped our son with his focus, problem solving, and fine skills (just to name a few). Our family also loves that the toddler program is Spanish immersion. Our son is currently 2.5 and is talking more and has such positive things to say about his teachers, classmates, and experiences at school. His favorite is when Mr. Bruce (a music teacher) comes to visit. We toured quite a few programs in the area and really appreciated how intentional MLS is. We highly recommend MLS

However, Miss Tasha and her team have made my daughter feel so welcome and safe! What really sealed they do for me was one morning I dropped off my daughter, and she was having a hard time with me leaving. As I was handing her to Miss Tasha, my daughter reached for her willingly and was able to muster up a goodbye through her tears. As soon as I left, I would say no more than five minutes I was getting an update through the app with my daughter in much better spirits having a morning snack. During the school year, students are assigned approximately one hour of homework each night, along…read morewith weekly homework packets. At the beginning of the school year, my grandmother passed away, and during that horrible time I asked for support to help keep my son on track with his assignments. I was told to rely on his communication notebook, but felt that wasn't enough given the circumstances. Near the end of the final trimester, I was informed that my son was at risk of failing math. I was frustrated because this was the first time I had been made aware that he was struggling. I was told there had not been any concerns before then and that he should begin attending student hours. Earlier communication (in addition to seeing some poor grades in cj which only suggested that we implement new study habits) would have allowed us to address the issue before it became so serious. Parent teacher conferences were unhelpful. Unfortunately, attending student hours was also challenging. If a student arrives even a FEW minutes late, they are not permitted to join because it would "disrupt" the ongoing session. The morning drop-off procedures can be difficult to navigate, as the gates are opened on a very strict schedule. On one occasion, I had to park and walk my son into school before 7:30 a.m., and by the time we reached student hours we were only a couple of minutes late. He was not allowed to attend. Ironically, had it been 7:31 a.m., I could have used the drive-through drop-off instead but would have been late to student hours. There were also several school policies that made the experience more difficult for our family. Students were not allowed to play tag on the playground, school lunches were not provided, and the after-school program was very costly even with scholarship.

The school strongly emphasizes academics and kids are given letter/percentage grades like high schools do. Yes there's pressure but nothing we can't handle so far. My complaints: 1. De-prioritization of physical activity. You have to put your child in an after school club (more money) for dance, bowling, and other movement-based activities. I had the opportunity to volunteer to help with hot lunch once. I learned a lot. Like just how short lunch is; it explained why my daughter was hungry but had uneaten food in her lunch last semester. Volunteering has opened my eyes and I started packing her lunches a little differently 2. It's a charter school so they have to raise money. However, the fundraiser updates in the app are ridiculous. Class vs class, grade vs grade. Everyone hurry and donate before the deadline...use the AZ tax credit...oh the deadline has been extended so you can donate more (no surprise) None of the issues I mentioned are major to me. Why? Because my kindergartener is reading, can read digital and analog clocks, she can add double-digit numbers, etc but her friends who are in 1st and 2nd grade in TUSD schools aren't there yet. The academic advantage Basis provides is unparalleled without attending an expensive private school But there are pros and cons to each school and I've included a couple for potential parents considering the school

In many occasions I have observed the "teachers" talking amongst themselves when they are supposed to be looking after the children. After the last request, I was told that we could meet in 3 weeks, after stalling for a week. Incident (accident) reports have not been completed until I've asked for explanations for bruises. My child has been bitten twice by other children, in a 3 week span. My child was taken into the facility, by his other parent, with a golf-ball sized bruise on his forehead, without it ever being documented. The corporate office has been just as uncooperative. I have picked up my son with a soiled diaper many times. I would not, by any means, recommend this location to anyone.

Unfortunately, we are moving; otherwise, I would have kept him enrolled. We had a great experience with De Colores. It's a smaller daycare which is nice. The teacher to infant/toddler ratio is great. They were always attentive to my son and I feel like they actually cared for him. All of the staff--including the other teachers outside of his class-- knew my son's name and were welcoming at drop off and pick ups. They really do care about the well-being and safety of the children in the center. I was also very impressed that my son was learning both English and Spanish. Finally, I will add that the tuition price was reasonable.
