cooking khan is an interesting asian restaurant concept whit a buffet of raw ingredients out of…read morewhich guests can combine their own dishes. the whole plate with all the selected ingredients is then left at an open kitchen along with a seasoning of your own choice and the staff brings back your plate as soon as it it done. the idea is good and the quality is ok. i strongly doubt though, that any mongolian has ever eaten that way. to me it is basically a different way to sell the same stuff as every other chinese restaurant but in a different way of presentation and at a higher price. copy concepts have showed up in salzburg meanwhile and in my opinion 'world of asia' is the best out of all those so called 'mongolian' buffet places. koohing khan is worth a try for the exoperience, but is not worth the money for a second visit.

Now, for full disclosure, though contrary to my fat man's appearance, I'm not generally a huge fan of Asian buffets. There's just something about the mass produced food sitting out there under the food lamps that turns me off I guess. Coincidentally, the basic food selection seems to span the globe as well, be it in the States or in Austria. The basic ambiance here is nice though, clean and modern. In addition to their buffet at additional cost they have a Mongolian grill. We did not partake in that portion, but it looked good. A bit pricey in my opinion, but Salzburg is clearly a tourist city, so I'm sure it's competitive to other similar joints. I'd return again if in need, but I'd certainly not go out of my way to do so.

Dessert is donuts, ice cream, nothing special, as you know it from Chinese buffet places all around the world. Special congrats to the chefs for the Korean BBQ which they paid lots of attention to (Was delicious and something to look at as well, see pictures I attached.)
