It was a grueling open-ocean race dominated historically by only men. But in 1989, a young woman put together an all-female crew to challenge that. They had stations for weaving and a badge/story telling set up. In addition, there was a full day of scheduled music events that were hands on and allowed children to use the musical instruments! I'm 30, I grew up on All Eyez on Me, 2001, and Space Boogie: Smoke Odyssey. I've graduated to wu, alchemist, Jedi, statik, etc- but ok I digress... I've heard "callin out names" by kurupt. They play "ether" by nas on the random. "Hit em up" IN HEAVY ROTATION. Lol. I used to spit that whole 2 minute rant at the end at the lunch tables in 8th grade- and yes- they often play it thru to the bitter "My 4-4 make sure all y'all kids don't grow!"
