Located at the end of the island about 1 hour from the airport. Adelaide to Kangaroo island flight is only about 30 minutes. The airport is tiny - no security check on departure. The rooms are modern, perched on the edge of the hill with panoramic views of the ocean beach and ocean below from your room or deck. Modern baths and furnishings. Note: Some rooms have very open plan showers that have no doors to the living area. Kangaroos are all over the property; and wallabies at dusk. The wildlife tour is fantastic - Koalas, Snakes, Birds, Seals, Sea lions etc. etc. You may get very lucky and find a platypus. Lots of ocean views and geological features as well... something for everyone. The lighthouse tour on the property is worthwhile with stunning views and lots of history. Sheep shearing tour on nearby farm as well along with honey tasting to keep you busy. Lots of stars at night without the city pollution to obscure them.

This was such a lucky find to take care of all our needs. They also provide transportation from the airport or Penneshaw ferry, which we used. They are located at the end of the east peninsula and as we turned into their property, we finally saw wild Kangaroos!!! There were so many! I think they like this area and feel comfortable to be in this beautiful space with tourists. This resort has cabin style units with a central reception/ dining center where breakfast and dinners are provided. The units have recently been upgraded and are simple and luxurious and clean, with all the amenities you will need. The breakfast was simple but very tasty with eggs, bacon, several types of breads, fruit, yogurt and granola or muesli. The dinners were just delicious and novel. We saw so many animals on our tour in their natural environment: kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, sea lions, fur seals, Australian turkeys, wallabies, and goanna lizards. The tour to Flinders Chase National Park was a long drive but so worth it. The Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Rock were just beautiful. This was such a great stay, beautiful location, friendly staff and tour guides, and so many animals!! I highly recommend this resort.

Opened in 1991, the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus oil distillery and retail shop was the only eucalyptus oil distillery in South Australia, they produced 100% pure Australian eucalyptus oil alongside a wide range of natural products and other items of their own and a myriad of local producers. At the heart was a story of a family-owned business where everyone contributed her/his own expertise and talents. Guided or self-guided tours of the distillery were available year round, tastings and sales were available of Kangaroo Island Ciders, and their full-bar café offered delicious breakfast, lunch, tea, and coffee. Eucalyptus oil distilling was once one of Kangaroo Island's major industries. It began in the 1880's, and was a supplementary income for the farmers clearing their land for sheep farming. The live emu was cool, but would their eucalyptus oil be the elixir that healed all!? I had the BIG breaky burger and it was great, but it was BIG. It had egg, bacon, hash browns, onion jam, and a hamburger patty. I greedily ate every bite and then had to skip lunch as penance. The gift shop had some beautiful things, some locally made (the woolen products) as well as their own eucalyptus products. We bought koala wool socks and a couple cute cards. They also offer tours, which we didn't have time to take.

Our cabin shows signs of wear, but there's plenty of space, and the kitchen is very useful b/c there's no restaurant food to get excited about. We got a ride to Drake's, a relatively large grocery store for the area, where we stocked up for a few days. Keep in mind that the closest coffee shop is about a 20 min walk. It's something, but. Have a car or book drivers.

Overlooking Nepean Bay, it had a frontage to the Esplanade of 150 ft., and to Commercial Street of 65 ft. Spacious balconies, overlooking the beach and the mainland to the north-east, extended for the whole length of the building. Constructed of local limestone and including 57 rooms, the hotel also featured extensive dining and bar facilities. Mr James Carr, of Glenelg, purchased a half interest in the hotel in February 1918, and was partnered with Mr F. H. Winch. The partners had contemplated making additions to the hotel to cater for the following summer's trade. On August 28, 1918 the Ozone Hotel at Kingscote was completely gutted by fire and its destruction resulted in a serious loss to the island. The Ozone Hotel was rebuilt in 1920 and continued to be a central focal point for the local community and the many visitors to Kangaroo Island. Several features of the original building have been preserved and can be seen in the Zone Restaurant and Bar together with several original photos, giving a glimpse of history and bygone times. Over the years, the hotel has seen several extensions, renovations, and additions with the most recent one being the Flinders building and the Pier Apartments which were built in 2006. Just book what you want and not what you hope for. Yes a $70 room will not be an Executive Seaview room or anything close. Word to the wise, book direct with the hotel, not a third party website. (This goes for ANY hotel reservation because you have flexibility as apposed to trying to contact your third party at check in) We weren't quite sure where reception/check in was, so we walked around one building, then the other building. Even when we walked right by reception, it didn't even occur to us that the "window" in the hallway was where to check in. We checked in mid afternoon and we weren't sure a room would be ready. Surprise, it was and we were given keys right away. Went to the Executive Sea View room, which was modern, had great air con and a comfortable bed. Unfortunately the promised balcony didn't have furniture and would not would it fit any (corner room closest to street, very skinny balcony). Returned to reception to inquire about a possible change and we were shown a room that is an add-on section to the original hotel. If you are facing the restaurant from the ocean, these rooms are to the left. Book these rooms! Don't go lower. Unobstructed views of the ocean (see picture), modern, awesome air con, stylish, good sized balcony and comfortable bed. We sat out on the balcony both nights and enjoyed wine after dinner (everything in Kingscote closes early). Cool breezes and peaceful...indulge, you're on holiday, right? Breakfast (brekky) was adequate, not spectacular. Very basic, but if replenished, you have the makings of a decent meal. Slightly expensive for the offerings. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel based on my experience. If I ever find myself back on KI, I wouldn't hesitate to return to Ozone.

Beautiful views and convenient location…read more The rooms are spacious with exposed brick and lovely views of the water. Our king sized bed was comfy with nice fluffy pillows. Shower was super hot with great pressure. There was no housekeeping during our 3 night stay and no one was present when we checked out but there were easy to follow instructions on what to do when checking out. The location was convenient to getting to the main island sights and was close to nice restaurants. We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed with them for one night in January 2015 during a two-day visit to Kangaroo Island or K.i. as the locals call it. This is an absolutely beautiful property located far out in the countryside where the stars are as plentiful as the sheep. This B&B features not only cozy rooms filled with antiques but gourmet meals too. There are just 4 rooms so don't expect a big crowd. We were dropped off by our touring company around 6 and were greeted by Lyn and Graham. Dinner was scheduled for half past 7 and the night we were there we were offered our choice of salads, entrees and desserts all featuring local produce and all artfully prepared by Lyn. In the morning, an equally lavish breakfast was offered with a wide variety of fruit, yogurt, bakes, breads and eggs. Of course coffee, tea and juice as well were provided. The food here was as good as any restaurant. After dinner Graham loaded all of us up in his Toyota truck and we went for a night time drive across the fields spotting Kangaroos and Wallabys and the odd startled sheep. A great treat. I awoke early to the sounds of the many local birds and went outside and got some nice pictures. You can also hear the gentle bleating of sheep in the distance and you are free to hike around any of their 3,000 acres and take photos of their 6,000 or so sheep. If you are looking for something way off the beaten path where hospitality is first rate during your stay on K.I. -look no further than this special spot. Highly recommended.
