Absolute hidden gem in the central coast! We moved down in Templeton 2 years ago and with over 300 wineries we have to try, we certainly have to try harder. This weekend, we decided to drive in the Adelaide area and stopped at Kiamie without a reservation. The gentleman that was helping us was absolutely the sweetest, most welcoming person granted that almost every winery in the central coast would require you to 1) reserve especially during the weekend 2) insist that you put your mask on even if you're outdoor 3) children have to remain seated or confined in their strollers, he was the complete opposite! He offered my girls Capri sun, let them explore and even asked if they would like to feed the goat.... truly an experience that my family look for when wine tasting. Of course my 3yo decided to pull one of the dream catcher that she accidentally broke and the gentleman was so kind about it- we are truly sorry for it. Anyway, the wines?!? All are wonderful!!!! We are more of white wine folks and it's rare that we find reds that we love... Kiamie's reds are absolutely delicious! The winery has hummingbird feeders everywhere and they are absolutely beautiful to watch up close. Honestly, I can probably sit hours sitting in one of their picnic tables drinking their Kuvee and listen to birds--- it's an absolute treat. Our friends treated us to a trip out to Kiamie Vineyards on a recent weekend. They are wine club members, and we can certainly see why. This is not your Napa-wannabe, fancypants winery - this is a rustic winery with true character, and we loved it. The tasting room is friendly, tiny and WARM, thanks to a fabulous wood stove. We walked around with our glasses, met the resident goat and dogs (if you happen to bring doggie biscuits for the pups, they will follow you around as if you are their best friend - I love them!), and thoroughly enjoyed their wines. This place is friendly, unpretentious, and won't break the bank, but if you're looking for fancy, big, and sterile, this place probably isn't going to make you happy. We were visiting next door and walked into this place because we're always open to a new place and to new adventure. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the owners Greg and Aram. The place was small and rustic and had a charm to it. We tasted a flight of red wines and we were impressed by the subtle, yet complex wines. What a great experience. Visited Paso this weekend and were told by friends to visit Kiamie. We arrived at 10am, (don't judge) an hour before they opened but the owner Aram had no problem with it and invited us right in! He was so welcoming, friendly and hospitable. He hung out with us the whole time and we felt like old friends just talking in his backyard over some amazing wine! As if that wasn't enough he took us to where they make and store the wine and we sampled wines out of the barrel. It truly was a special, one on one personal experience you can't get from the big, commercialized cookie cutter wineries. Did I mention how amazing the wine was?? We decided to stop here when we were driving by and I am glad we did. The tasting room is charming and rustic. The owners, Aram and Greg, are fun and inviting. We came for a tasting and ended up staying for hours. We chatted with the friendly owners, drank wine and enjoyed the beautiful grounds. We enjoyed the experience and the wine so much we become members. They are not on the wine map which makes this place tougher to discover, but if you are reading this I would say go there. read more

Greg and Aram are doing very good things here. Think Old World style. Not the big fruit bombs of Paso, but the subtle flavors with minerality. Tasted everything and bought 2009 Kiamie Kuvee. I will let it rest a year or so and try it after some air time. My guess would be that it will be really tasty. Of course I bought a bottle of PrOcRastinaTion (spells PORT) for my lady. For my birthday we decided to stop at Kiamie cellars so glad we did. Being in this county since the 1980s I enjoy our old Winery's the ones that are small the ones that are starred up the ones that a lot of people don't go to because they read what's in a magazine the mom and pop shops the guys who put their heart soul and love into what they're producing this is what Greg does at Keomi. Picnic was wonderful with the winery dogs and a spirited conversation was also part of the fun. read more

A group of four friends embarked on a relaxing wine trip navigated by a hired driver, Mike. After a couple of stops to the "usual places" he damn near insisted on stopping at Kiamie telling us "just trust me". THANKFULLY we agreed and we were blown away. Greg was pouring and was eager to chat with us. We went way off the wine path and felt as if we were accepted into a friendship with everyone there. Another couple that arrived joined in and we were off on varied and entertaining tales of baseball and histories. And all this just speaks to the atmosphere. Now the wine.... I am a HUGE fan of the Kuvee! Also snagged up. 2 bottles each of the Meritage and Unblocked. Greg was very informative and answered every question I asked with such detail that I felt more knowledgeable about wine then before I had arrived. I am not a seasoned vet juts yet but working my way there and with the help of Greg signifying the different tastes and levels, I was grateful. Several bottle purchases and a couple of wine club sign-ups later, we were off to continue our "tour" knowing full well we will be back. Multiple times over to build upon the experience. My first Yelp review! STOP #1 of the Paso Robles Zinfandel Festival Weekend 2010 A couple of days prior to coming here I met owner Aram Deirmenjian while he was pouring wine for Kiamie at a wine tasting show in Pasadena. I told a number of winery people that I would be in Paso Robles for the Zin Fest, but Aram was the only one that graciously invited me and was sincere in having me as a guest. TASTING ROOM: Open Thursday to Monday 11 AM to 6 PM (or by appointment) Tasting fee: $5 credited with purchase The new tasting room (opened on April 11, 2009) looks more like a country club bar, with it's big windows and tasteful bright interior. Volunteer server Jim poured for us with enthusiasm. He easily handled the growing crowd with poise and shared his knowledge about the wines and the other must see spots in town. Kiamie's winemaker Steve Glossner is a veteran of the Paso Robles wine scene, putting in years in such acclaimed establishments like Justin Winery, Adelaida Cellars, and Halter Ranch. It's no wonder the wines here at Kiamie (especially the blends) are at a high-quality level. Adding to our wine tasting experience, Tasting Room manager Sophia Stephens supplemented our server's notes with her knowing take on the Kiamie wines. She even gave us a list of recommended wineries which we would more or less follow the next day. It's refreshing to see a young, passionate wine lover in charge of the wine tasting. (She's also very cute!) WINE TASTING HIGHLIGHTS: "Kiamie White Kuvée" This Roussanne and Viognier blend is a bolder white with lush lemon, melon and pear flavors and a crisp citrus finish. It was a great way to start after 3 to 4 hours of driving from the O.C. "Meritage" Comprising of Cab, Merlot, Petite Verdot, and Malbec - this is a nice, well balanced blackberry and black currant tasting blend with a smooth finish. "R'Own Style Blend" Kiamie's unqiue blend of Syrah, Grenache, Zinfandel and Viognier makes for a spicy and tart cranberry/cherry offering. A long spicy finish rewarded me here. "Kiamie Kuvée" I recall there were 2 different vintages of this varietal on the tasting menu, but I lost my notes getting caught up in that wine-tasting zone. But both of the blends were made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec and Zinfandel. And regardless of vintage, this was my favorite varietal of theirs. Well balanced, delicious cherry, black berry, and vanilla with hints of coffee and a complex finish left me reeling. Superb. "Zinfandel" This one was still very young and was poured from a decanter. And while you cannot go wrong with any of Kiamie's blends, this Zinfandel was raw, peppery, fruit forward and hinted of the greatness to come. I even took another glass to pair with the tacos they were serving up that day. TIPS: - Expect to pay $24 to $44 for their bottles. - Dog friendly. - You may be able to find Kiamie wine at your local Winestyles wine shop. - They take part in numerous art/food/wine events. This place is a trek, but it is definitely worth coming here. The owners Greg and Aram are great and so are their doggies :) They were our first stop of the trip, and when Greg found that out he said "oh man, its gonna be all downhill from here" and he was right! It was hands down the best winery of the day. We were the only ones in there for a while, and they really do treat you like family. Came there for the goat, was thoroughly impressed with the wine. The outside area was great, filled with friendly puppies. The goat, named "Goat", was a good drinking companion, and certainly not a cheater. The wines on the tasting list were fantastic, and varied, which pleased the vastly different palates of my group. This place is what Paso wine tasting should be. There's a good reason all the reviews rave about Kiamie; it's that good. Not just the wine, which is great, but the whole experience. We tasted with Aram, who is funny, engaging, and very knowledgeable about wine. He'll tell you as much as you want to know without being pretentious or condescending. He sits with you if you want and leaves you alone if that's what you prefer. He will call over the goat (Greatest Of All Time) for you to feed. He will tell you stories about how the winery came to be. And he will pour excellent wine. All of the wines are very good. And there's something for every taste. We got the Meritage and the Cuvee. Both excellent. A bit pricey but worth it. No pressure to buy, and you can "revisit" anything you like before committing. This isn't the corporate experience. It's what wine tasting used to be. Friendly, relaxed, laidback, and fun. If you like lots of gleaming steel and granite counters this isn't that place. If you want free bottles of Fuji water go up the road to Justin first. If you want corporate management look elsewhere. (The computers were down when we visited so they wrote our credit card info on paper.) If you want a relaxed visit, friendly staff (and dogs) excellent wine, and a true Paso experience this is your place. read more

What a special treat. This location is on an old homestead. If you blink you will miss it. It is a hidden gem in a rustic location showcasing AMAZING wines. Damn was this a gem! This was our 6th winery we visited in a day. Traversing Paso east to west avoiding amateur hour of bridal limo wine tours we pulled into Kiamie mid afternoon. It's unassuming, rustic, has a small country feel. Even has goats. Aiden was inside the very small tasting room. Poured us a white, said we could have a seat outside. I said, nah I'll stand and hang inside. Aiden just grabbed a bottle and said we'll I'm going outside. Much to our surprise Jimmy had smoked some tri-tip with mushrooms and asparagus earlier for their lunch/early dinner and we arrived before they packed up the left overs. We were treated like friends and had an unexpected incredible late lunch with amazing wines. We were tasting the 2018 Unlocked Red with the meat and maybe it was timing because that's the bottle we took home. i look forward to having this bottle with our steak cooked on the flame during our next camping trip. read more

Loved visiting this winery, again suggested by my wonderful driver, and was not on my list---egregious error, so glad we went. Greg sat out back with us and that's where we did our tasting while enjoying our box of french bread, cheeses and meats. I loved the Unlocked wine & and we joined the Kiamie wine club. I am a farm girl at heart (& former goat owner) so I really enjoyed the goat and llamas and was told by someone there that I am the only customer that they had ever seen Greg allowed in the pen. That just added to my enjoyment of the visit. Logan, the dog also enjoyed the food box and was good company. We loved the unpretentious, charming vibe of this winery. Logan the black lab bounded out to meet us as we drove up. Greg showed us a tarantula he found, and Aram poured our wines and brought them to us outside. We enjoyed chatting with him and seeing the mama and baby llamas. They even had a Capri Sun and oyster crackers for our three-year old, plus cornhole and bubbles! And when we wandered a bit farther afield, Aram warned me of snakes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately they had sold out of their kuvees when we visited, but we liked both their 2009 and 2015 R'Own blend. Would love to come back sometime, try their kuvee, and watch an afternoon pass by. This review is long overdue. My husband and I have been here several times. The first time we stumbled onto this winery and so glad we did! They have some of the most amazing wines in the area. The second time we came by we brought my family and they also really liked the Vinos here. On both occasions we bought several wine bottles. Not only are the wines really good but the two owners are friendly and have the best sense of humor. I like the chill laid back environment this winery has to offer. There is nothing pretentious about this place and unfortunately, you will not find the winery on the Paso Robles/Templeton wine map. read more
