Though I did like the location and the parking availability I experienced several issues (one…read moresignificant and noted as my last point): 1) For the first class no notification was provided and no postings made available to advise of which dance studio my child's class would be in - just resorted to wondering around until I found the right one. First impression - poor communication. 2) initially my child wasn't very good but she practiced really hard and became one of the top dancers in the class. My child asked her teacher if she could try out for the lead position as she's worked really hard and there were 2.5 months until recital but the teacher said no. Surprising as it was for 4 year olds. No reason was provided as to why she couldn't at least try. Though I liked the teacher she had her favourites. My daughter was crushed but I encouraged her to continue and I was so proud that she persevered the last few months of the year. 3) All the costumes for the class were ordered too small. Rather than return the costumes to the manufacturer the parents were advised to take it to a tailor as it would only cost $40 to repair (on top of the $65 already spent). The school wouldn't take accountability for their orders or demand quality from their supplier. 4) Last and most disturbing - during the recital I volunteered behind the scenes and experienced severe bullying / harassment. I filed a complaint with the school and another parent of whom had witnessed the harrassment filed a complaint with the school. The school did respond to me and advised they would call me but in fact I had to initiate the call to the school to follow up on my complaint. When I did they told me they would promote the women involved to ambassadors at the next recital. I had to advise the representative that these individuals don't best represent the school. Overall they had an inappropriate response. On top of that I was to receive a $50 credit for volunteering at the recital and I received an email noting only a $25 credit. I enquired and they said it was due to enrollment fees for the next year. Surprising as I didn't enroll my daughter with their school.

The RWB is a treasure!…read more I have since lived in other cities where the Ballet companies are proficient, yet clearly lacking the amazing quality and prestige of the RWB (at triple the cost of what a ticket costs in Winnipeg). Truly, I recommend anyone with an interest in dance to take advantage of the RWB if you are in Winnipeg. (Hint: It is a great date to take a lady on, fella's. A lot of little girl's dream of being dancer's at one time or another ;) When I was young my Mom bought us yearly season tickets and it benefitted me in so many ways! Choreographer Mark Godden and Conductor Bramwell Tovey came to be highly regarded Canadian artists and it was a pleasure to see their career's progress. This is a great avenue for parent's to expose children to wonderful costume's, music, stories and artists.

With legal penalties.  ... Hate the experience I had trying to cancel classes. I thought I filled out the paperwork and submitted it but I didn't(completely my fault). I didn't want to do classes anymore as I'm going through finiancial hardship and recently have had to leave my job. No business is required to but maybe offer to wave the late fee. But that's okay, my fault I didn't know I didn't cancel properly. No understanding from the owner ; that's fine. But the "professional" rudeness and trying to get me to sign a contract stating that I can't have an opinion about how this business has treated me in this situation or I have to pay them $250 in a penalty is really gross. I was told I had to sign it as an agreement so they wouldn't send my stuff to creditors (honestly they probably did which is fine I'm not signing anything like that).When asking over and over where to send the money as they stated it could be etransfered I've gotten no response (lost my card it's changed). I don't like how my situation was handled and I think they try to be professional but it comes off super rude. No realness or understanding. Edit: only will waive the late fee if I take down the review (250+ without taking down review or 84$) Trying to get me to AGAIN sign another contract to be dishonest about my experience. I regret ever bringing my kid here because this is such a headache. Being kind and understanding is free. Don't be stupid like me and get through all the red tape in cancellation! I enrolled my daughter at Royal Dance in December of 2014 after an eye appointment next door. I saw…read moreon the sign they were still enrolling and I figured it she hated it then I would only be out 1/2 a year tuition instead of a full year. The door was locked, even though it said it was open, and a girl popped out of the truck in front of the store and asked if I needed help. We went inside and I asked about ballet for 3 year olds. They had a Monday class from 6-7, which was great because her 5-6 swimming class was such a stressful rush to get to. The best part was we didn't have to buy the crazy expensive costume for the end of the year show because they were already ordered. She told me about a spring show at the other location my daughter was able to dance in and I was sold. I signed up, paid, but was told I couldn't have the parent packet sitting on the desk. She said it was the last one and it had to stay in the filing cabinet (she then put it away). I was told classes started January 6th and the girl I was dealing with, who looked 15, would be the teacher. My friend had sent her daughter here a few years prior and had major complaints about the studio but I was taking it as a trial run. Her daughter loves ballet but another friend's daughter hated it so I would see how it went. They don't allow shoes past the carpet by the door, which is understandable. Winnipeg winters are wet and messy. The waiting room is cold in the winter especially by the window but the girl at the desk has a nice little heater for herself. Unfortunately because of the shoe rule during the end of class it's a madhouse of parents and students tripping over each other to prepare themselves to enter the cold. I love my daughter, but she is 3, and 3 year olds don't always listen. When she took swimming a month prior she spent 90% of the time screaming her head off because she didn't want to lie on her back. Saying I was nervous about her listening to her ballet teacher would be an understatement. I tried approaching the teacher after class to talk about her listening skills and all I got was a nervous teenager not wanting to answer me. I tried reassuring her that I know my kid had listening problems and she couldn't offend me but I got more of the same and some half answers. While watching the class through the blinds I found that I didn't like was how the class was structured. There was the teenage teacher, a teenage assistant, and 2 maybe 10-12 year olds also assisting. The two older ones pretty much ignored my daughter and left it to one of the younger ones to deal with her. The problem with "tweens" trying to teach and work with kids and toddlers in a structured environment is that they are not teachers and they are not mature. This kid kept grabbing my child's arm leading and pulling her where she wanted her to go. As a parent it was even more frustrating that there was no adult supervising anything. The teenage teacher was the only person in change and I was not about to approach the assistants when their parents were packing them up too. My kid loved the class so I tolerated the tweens and thankfully they were only in 2 more of her classes. After that first class they closed the blinds so parents couldn't watch but on occasion they left the door open. I saw a room full of happy little girls dancing but what I didn't see was any attempt to correct the students if there were not following proper form. The girls were using the bar and while my daughter hung from it and did kicks the teacher and the assistant continued with the lesson and neither even bothered to make sure she was learning. I continued asking for the parent packet with no luck and last week I found out from another parent that the spring show already happened. The other parent said there was an email that went out inviting the kids. Wait, what!?! I was told my kid was going to be in that! I spoke to the girl at the desk, I told her I never got this email. Her response was that only 2 girls from the little ballerinas class showed up. So I told her again that I never got the email. She took my application form out and searched the email list. She was shocked when she couldn't find my email address on it and her demeanor changed right away. She told me about a student show that would be happening in June. The kids preform for each other so she should still get to preform but she should pick her up early because that is the same day costumes are picked up. That's great and all but it still doesn't help that my husband and I didn't get to see her dance. She gave me the director's email and I emailed her this morning. I am really unimpressed with this place. If you want your child to "learn" dance more for the exercise, convenience of not dealing with downtown traffic, and just having fun then I absolutely recommend this studio! My child will not be returning next year, we will be enrolling her in the RWB.

I just received my "one year anniversary" email from Studio 26, reminding me it had been a year…read moresince I took my first class there -- which also reminded be that I've been meaning to write a review to rave about my incredible experience. I was in Winnipeg for less than 24 hours for a work trip, and managed to squeeze in yoga practice. I was so lucky to have a class with the owner, Todd, who was an amazing teacher. The class was challenging but fun and Todd had so many great insights into the practice, but at the same time kept things light. The studio itself was seriously the poshest Bikram studio I've ever been to, but not at all in a pretentious way! They seriously have the most luxurious change room I have ever experienced in a Bikram studio. I am trying to find an excuse to get back to Winnipeg, just so I can practice yoga here again!

I've practiced different yoga for the past ten years and at different studios. None compares to…read morestudio 26 and Todd Miller. Last year, I had a serious injury which continues to this day. Since going to studio 26 in September, my recovery has been incredible. Hot yoga, in addition to other rehab ( physio, massage, etc) helps to relieve my pain and increase flexibility. It is also a place of community with Todd and other caring instructors. Todd's classes feel like master classes where he gives individual instructions and corrections. He is also hilarious! I also love the clean studio and change rooms. I highly recommend studio 26!
