Decent prices. Good frozen pierogies in various flavors. Dry yeast donuts. Great croissant donuts (cronuts). Delicious dense pumpkin muffin with cheesecake filling. Bear claw was hard at 10am and too crumbly to be delicious or worth the mess. I came here because one of the reviews raved about lemon and chocolate ganache. Turns out, No chocolate ganache, but we did get a small chocolate cake which was delicious. The poop Cupcakes were cute and a nice treat for a special birthday person. Staff had considerable trouble ringing up the order, about 10 minutes worth, but product well worth the trip. I had read about this bakery many years ago and about a magical dessert called the Snoogle. The three previous times I went to Kiedrowskis they were sold out before I got there. So this morning after a long walk at the Black River trail my daughter and I went back. SUCCESS! We decided to split one Snoogle between the two of us. We sat outside and broke it in two. It was worth the trip, the hype, and the money. Flaky, sweet, subtlety in the cheese filling. If we weren't working on weight loss we would have ordered a few to take home. But there is something to be said for having just a taste of heaven and holding out till the next time. And so we will. read more

No doubt a local favorite, the line a dozen long before, during and after arriving at 9:45am, Kiedrowski's is a tight space with limited outdoor seating and the majority of its footprint used for baking and displaying, the indecisive at a disadvantage as the queue moves quickly, the staff accommodating at patient...at least moreso than grumbling natives who just want to grab a Snoogle, Frycake or Muffin. Certainly not a looking to reinvent the wheel, the majority of the glass cases' contents focused on Quick-Breads, Donuts or Cookies, it was with a large box in hand that the store was exited, a mere $14 for the lot almost unheard of in 2016, first bites of a Blueberry Frycake and Cruller fine though not revelatory while the Peach Fritter and Old Fashioned Donut were each reference standard, the outsides crisp and glistening while the inside was moist but not the least bit oily. Taking a different look at the "Cronut" by placing a freshly made Butter Croissant in the deep fryer before topping it with Streusel and shellacking it in a sugary shell it seemed unnecessary that the same treatment was given to an otherwise tasty Apple Fritter that unfortunately proved far too sweet to be enjoyed past a bite or two, the Kolachy and Kiffle both as good as homemade while the "Wahooski" was simply a good Sugar Cookie celebrating the Cleveland Indians advancement to the World Series. Taking a bit of chance on the Corn Muffin, results shining as the sweet yet toothsome batter was piped full of a zippy Cream Cheese core, it was finally here that a "Snoogle" was partaken in, the mashup of a Cheese Danish and Puff Pastry like that of a Cream Horn justifying its fame as the shattering shell gave way to gooey insides, a word to the wise being to enjoy this concoction in an outdoor space, or at least somewhere that cleans up easily. read more

After not finding any paczkis in the city that satisfied my requirements, I decided to head out to Amherst to stand in line for the famous delicacies from Kiedrowski's Bakery. The drive was pleasant as the weather this Fat Tuesday was pretty mild. Unfortunately, I used the Yelp mobile location map for directions and it took me to completely the wrong place. After winding up on a residential road where I was pretty sure there wasn't a bakery, I was able to find where I was supposed to be heading. Although, even with google maps this place was a bit hard to find for someone who had never been there before! Lineup mid-day wasn't too bad, I only wound up waiting for about 25 min. outside and they had music playing, coffee to purchase and a little heater to warm up next to. A lady at the front door kept order by ushering the appropriate amount of people inside as soon as there was room to hold them. A dozen paczkis for $10? Even though there were only two of us that I was buying for, there was no way I could say no to that deal! Traditional flavours, so I was really happy and got 3 each of the prune, poppyseed, rose petal and apricot. Their cases were filled with paczkis for this day but I did see some cakes and breads sitting back there and I'll have to come out and try some of their other baked goods. Lets just say that it was a miracle that those 12 paczkis made it back home to Cleveland without my digging into the box...the smells coming from my passenger seat were unbelievable! Once at home, we immediately went for our favorites, prune was light and delicate, and the apricot was heavenly. I can say that all of the flavours exceeded expectations and they are easily some of the best paczkis I have EVER had. No wonder Kiedrowski's has a Paczki Ball every year and sells thousands of these on Fat Tuesday! There will be no question in the future where I will be going to get paczkis....the drive out to Kiedrowski's is worth it ;o) read more

The best cakes around. I love Kiedrowski's sheet cakes. They are so moist and delicious. Importantly, the frosting is not overly sweet and the decorations are always well done. I live in California, but when I come back here, I always try to stop by. My uncle recently died and I thought it would be a nice touch to order a beautiful Kiedrowski cake for the memorial celebration after the funeral. I am attaching the picture. I totally agree with other reviewers... how has Kiedrowski's not been on the Food Network yet? Or have they? They are just a cool, special place in Amherst and one of the most delicious Polish bakeries in Ohio. They have been around since 1984 and their recipes are clearly rooted in family pride. This might have been the best Paczki I've ever had. Paczki is an old-world Polish treat that's become super popular on Mardi Gras. This year, my Mom came home with a holy grail dozen of them in multiple flavors. Kiedrowskis offers five flavors: traditional hand-rolled, apricot, lekvar (original sweetened with prunes), poppyseed and rose (has a sweet floral filling made from rose petals). All of the flavors are awesome and unique in their own way, but I'm super boring, so I'm happy with just a traditional hand-rolled! These delicious treats didn't last long in our house. They were delicious, well-made, and oddly addicting! I can't wait to come back again soon and try more of their delicious items, like coffee cakes, lemon locks, turnovers or snoogles (their homemade specialty). Yum!! read more

My dad and I were looking around for breakfast in Amherst, and we saw this on Yelp so we decided to go on over. It turned out to be quite awesome! There were an assortment of donuts and other pastries, and before we got there, I did some Yelping to see what's known there. stroogle, apparently! So we got one of those (it's a Polish pastry filled with cream cheese), a chocolate long john (which turned out to have cream inside), and a donut croissant. Everything was quite fresh and tasty, but they were all too sweet. The donut was $.85, and I have no idea how much the other two were. I recently got married, going in we knew that what we wanted, a cupcake cake and a small cake to cut. When we first came in we were greeted. We asked to talk to the manager and were able to tell them exactly what we wanted 10 chocolate cupcakes and 10 vanilla cupcakes. and a 6 by 3 cake to cut. We got our order done by Karen, she did a wonderful job. our small cake turned out to be more a 5 by 6 but that's fine with us. the only thing they didn't have were stands. but the Walmart down the street had a 3 teir stand. I can't believe most people drop this place to a 4 star rating just because there is no seating. You do know this is a bakery, a small one at that, and not a restaurant. This place is PHENOMENIAL!!! It deserves a 5 star rating and those that don't agree must not know a good donut/pastry then. I have lived in Lorain for 25 years and now live in Kentucky. I still order my cakes from them and they NEVER disappoint. I do wish they would bring back the nut torte though. That was my families favorite. read more
