As someone who likes beer and was also in Kiel for the long weekend, I feel like it was inevitable that I would visit Kieler Brauerei. It's centrally-located in the city center but also kind of small so you may walk past it initially. They weren't crowded when I came in around lunchtime and seemed like they were prepared for tourists (me). I ordered a flight of three beers because I wanted to try their selection. I'm not a fan of dark beers and one was dark but all the beers were fine and they came in branded mugs which is great for photos. They also offered food but I was only there for beer. There is plenty of seating inside, where it is also kind of dark. They have informational signage throughout that tells you a little about their history and how they make the beer. read more

Was here 28 years ago, long before mobile phones and Internet.... Beer tasted great then and still tastes good to me. This time had currywurst and chips, tasted great and was a good accompaniment to the beer. read more

Neben unserem beliebten süffigen Kieler Bier und dem frisch-herben Pils haben wir auch stets wechselnde Bierspezialitäten auf der Karte. Ein weiterer unserer Klassiker ist das Schnitzel "Brauer Art": zwei in eigenem Malzschrot panierte Schweineschnitzel mit hausgemachter Biersoße, Bratkartoffeln und Salatbeilage.

History

Established in 1988.

1988 wurde die Kieler Brauerei unter dem Namen "Klosterbrauerei" in Kiel gegründet. Damals noch mit "heißer Theke" und nur einer Biersorte schaffte der kleine Handwerksbetrieb es schnell, sich in Kiels Gastronomieszene zu etablieren. Im Jahre 1998 fand der Namenswechsel zur "Kieler Brauerei am Alten Markt" statt. Es folgten einige Änderungen und Erweiterungen, sowohl im Gastraum und Braukeller, als auch auf der Speisekarte. Besonders in den letzten Jahren haben wir noch stärker an unserem Angebot gearbeitet und es verbessert. Wir sind stolz, nun viele frische und hausgemachte Speisen anbieten zu können, ergänzt durch mind. drei verschiedene hausgemachte Biersorten, bei denen für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei ist. Die "Klose", wie die Kieler Brauerei im Volksmund genannt wird, ist zu jeder Jahreszeit ein attraktives Ziel für Touristen und Einheimische jeden Alters, ob in der schnellen Mittagspause, nach dem Shoppingbummel, für Geburtstage, Firmenfeiern oder einfach Party am Wochenende.

Ein Restaurant zum schämen! Einmal und nie wieder! Wenn man mit 4 Personen dort essen geht und 2* Schnitzel und 2* Gyros bestellt, kann man schonmal extrem hungrig und sauer nach Hause gehen. Die Schnitzel aus Formschfleisch(!) kamen angebrannt (die nach unten gewendete Seite komplett schwarz) bei uns an. Nach längerer Wartezeit hat es dann doch mal ein Kellner geschafft, die nicht essbaren Schnitzel durch neue ersetzen zu lassen. Was dann auf den Tellern ankam waren dann Fromfleisch-Schnitzel, die wenigstens nicht schwarz, aber trotzdem extrem trocken waren. Das Gemüse als Beilage war wässrig und schmeckte ungewürzt. Die Bratkartoffeln waren in Ordnung. Die Gyrosgerichte waren derart unverschämt, dass ich fast auf der Stelle diesen Laden verlassen hätte: Das Gyros hatte eine breiige Konsistenz, war wässrig und hatte den Geschmack von toten Füßen oder wahlweise von Tiefkühlware, die zu wenig in der Mikrowelle erhitzt worden ist. Die Gemüsemischung hatte die verräterischen Umrisse von industriell geschnitzter Beilage und schmeckte ebenso nach Tiefkühlware. Einzig und allein waren nur die Bratkartoffeln essbar. Wir haben uns auch in Bezug auf das Gyros beschwert und sind erstmal auf Unverständnis gestoßen. Zu guter letzt gab es keine Entschuldigung für dieses unglaublich schlechte Essen und ich musste mich meinen Gästen gegenüber rechtfertigen, warum in Gottes Namen ich sie in so einen grotten schlechten Laden schleppeich habe mich ziemlich für die Brauerei geschämt und lege niemandem nahe dort sein Geld zu verschwenden, denn fast 10 Euro für ein FORMFLEISCH-Schnitzel und Tiefkühlgemüse mit Bratkartoffeln ist mehr als unverschämt und für 5 Euro bekommt man sogar leckereres Essen an jeder Pommesbude serviert. read more

Das Restaurant bietet sehr leckeres Essen (gute deutsche Küche) zu günstigen Preisen. Die Portionen sind sehr groß. Das selbst gebraute Bier schmeckte sehr gut. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Sehr zu empfehlen. read more
