Service - good. As the crowd grew the service did get rather slow. The server chatted with us about our likes and dislikes to determine the cocktail that was right for our taste. Cocktails - no complaints. Over a couple of hours we had a selection of drinks. They were all very good. Although, I thought my manhattan had a bit too much sweet vermouth - still good, just a little too sweet. Overall - definitely, highly recommended. Beuys is a nice contrast to the usual drinking of Alt in the pubs.

Well, Dusseldorf certainly has it's fair share of Irish pubs (six of them within a short walk from each other). The thing is that there is only so much that you can write about an Irish Pub, especially when the only differences happen to either be their name, or the fact that James Joyce is behind the bar. This is the main reason why I decided I had to write this one up because of, well, James Joyce.

So I had to subtract a star for that... on top of that, they have a woman sitting in front of the bathrooms with a donation tray. This always annoys the hell out of me, as it is extremely rude and shameless of the owner of any establishment to do this. If you pay for your drinks, you're paying for the upkeep of the bar too. So especially when you go into a bathroom that's not very clean or well-kept and then you also have to deal with the sad-looking woman on your way out, it really is no fun. And I go to pubs to have fun. If they don't have the money to pay her for her work, then raise the damn beer prices! Anyway, aside from the cleaning lady at the bathrooms, the missing whiskies, and the slightly dirty bathroom, it's a decent Irish pub. Especially after the one I visited on the previous night with the worst Guinness I had ever had the displeasure of receiving, and which cost more than the one here.

The bartender spoke scarily good English. I reckon if I'd spoken to them any longer I'd have soon realised they were completely fluent. The views from the top are outstanding and there are some chairs right on the balcony to enjoy the day while having a drink with friends. The cocktails (Gin and tonic) are also great. There is no dress code and casual clothes and sneakers worked out which was refreshing because the bar is really high end and I was concerned for a minute when we arrived. The only downside in my experience was that the service was not great. Maybe because the place was packed or maybe because the staff is just not super friendly, but i felt like we were brushed away and rushed. It is a gorgeous view on a great bar so I will definitely be going back

The bar is a good size with outdoor and indoor seating. Food was better than expected. I had the fish and chips. Huge piece of white fish, perfectly cooked chips and a nice side of mushy peas. Well, where ever there are Irish there are Irish pubs, and that must mean that Dusseldorf has its…read morefair share or Irish because I counted at least six pubs within a short walk from each other. Anyway, this was the first I visited and the welcome that I received was so warm that I came back three more times (though I have to admit that the later experiences where anywhere near as good as the first - I guess it is the law of diminishing returns, and the bar staff didn't seem all that interested in a friendly chat). Still, considering that there are six other pubs, this once certainly did stick out from the crowd, even if only for the first impression I received.
