We were gifted a stay here for our honeymoon as it is part of my fathers time share network so I can't comment on the cost. It's not exactly in Killarney (5 miles out) but a beautiful drive up the road. I had read mixed reviews on other websites and was a little nervous but for a free place to stay I wasn't going to question it too much and my husband said it couldn't be worse than our stay in Port Costa (see review for Burlington Hotel).
Their office is only open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 10-4 (who wouldn't want that job?) but we arrived on a Saturday... There was a note on the door that our cottage was unlocked and the keys were on the table. Instructions to check in on the next "open" day sat next to the keys. We didn't realize that Monday was also a "holiday" so that effected our plans a bit but that's another side story. When we did check in, the staff was very friendly - no complaints there.
The exterior = beautiful
Interior = comfortable
We had a two bedroom two bathroom cottage. Kitchen stocked with dishes and necessary appliances - bring your own dish soap / dishwasher soap. While on the topic of BYO... throw toilet paper in there too... other than the two rolls (one in each bathroom) supplied that was it and with the front office closed... you're on your own.
It's seriously difficult to heat the place and both the information booklet provided and information accompanying the reservation stated that you had to pay for electricity (charged at 8 Euro a day) so we were conscientious about leaving heaters and lights running when we weren't there but we were never charged or asked for a credit card. So, pack warm PJs and don't worry about the electricity bill is my thought.
The only negatives I have for this place is that their attention to cleanliness isn't up to par with mine. I tend to notice little things so a few hairs on the bathroom floor, I'll dismiss but a crusted dried blood stain on the downstairs duvet I wont. But given that it is a time share, I'm not to familiar with their linens policy.
I would recommend this place to others in the time share network but would advise that it is not the same luxurious accommodations you find in the network stateside. If you go into it with an open mind and byo toilet paper, dish soap, warm pjs, and lower your cleanliness expectations, you'll have a great stay. read more
