Well, what can I say.
Went to Killay Tandoori on the off-chance last night (Monday 4th june) as I had to pop into Killay at 20:30 for some essentials and thought that by the time I got home it would be easier to buy my partner and I a nice curry. Hmmmmm... what a mistake'a to make'a.
The food was poor, to say the least. We had papadoms and mango and coconut chutneys, a lamb tikka starter each, one chicken korma, one chicken tikka massala and both with pilau rice...
Now to start with the good. The pilau rice was fresh. I'll make light of it, but thats it. THAT was the good. The papadoms (somehow) didn't taste the freshest, the chutneys were OK.ish. The lamb tikkas... well the lamb pieces were as tough as leather and the chopped salad was not fresh, as could be seen by the discolouration.
As for the two mains, the chicken was apparently fine in both meals, however both sauces were thick and stodgy. My sauce was too salty. And both lacked severely in the taste department.
Save your money and head into town, St. Helens has a number of fine indian restaurants. The Vo Jon being my current favourite.
I'm not one for writing reviews usually, but avoid Killay Tandoori under the current management like the bubonic plague is my advice on this occassion. read more
