I love this quirky touristy shop on Aberlour High Street in the centre of Aberlour town just beside…read morethe piazza. You go in for a snoop around and out you come with a few goodies. HOW come? Well, if and when you visit this shop you will find out why :-) It's the power of persuasion of beautifully displayed items that tempt your consciousness and you won't know what happened until it does. I think they petty much sell everything from typically touristy to every day items like whiskey, tea pots, egg holders, chutney, honey, shortbread, chocolate, cakes, teas , napkins, wine, special beer, gin, fish, sausages, salmon, caviar.......and much more. If you have the time don't miss out and stop there for a bit of browsing.

I'm a vegetarian, so got a Cheese Roll on a seeded roll. They make it on the spot for you, so you can let them know what you want or don't want on it. It's quick service with pre-packaged drinks and snacks available if you want. There's no seating, but it's a couple of minutes' walk around the corner to benches which overlook the Spey River. If you want something quicker and perhaps lighter than a full sit-down meal, Spey Larder will serve you well.

A very handy little place just a hop and a skip away from Robert Gordon University and the school,…read morejust along St Andrew street from John Lewis and the pedestrian areas/shopping malls of city-centre Aberdeen. But is it any good? Well, yes. Kind-of. Nae bad, as north-east Scots would say. The food is very Italian. I know that sounds odd when I put it like that, you're not expecting a place called 'Mediterraneo' to serve sushi. What I mean is that the food is not a neutered, internationalised version of Italian. It's not all bland pizzas and platefuls of rocket soaked in olive oil. The range is excellent for a small place, and service is quick. There is a little takeaway counter which is mobbed at lunchtimes, as you might expect for a place so central. The service is quick and friendly. If you can't find something for lunch, you don't like Italian food. If you're feeling less rushed, go in and ask to sit down - there is a smallish restaurant with plate glass windows to the street, and a wonderful hidden upstairs bit. I went there with a colleague this past week, and it was a delight to be shown upstairs, like stepping into a cupboard and discovering a hide-away that's a restaurant! Efficient, polite, friendly service. A wide choice on the menu, pastas to salads to ciabattas to soups to lasagnes, you get my drift. Under £15 for two with soft drinks! You can't argue with that, can you?

Real Italian food beautifully presented by real Italians. The service is spectacular with attentive yet patient staff who seem only to be visible when you need them and are more than happy for you to set a leisurely pace. The menu is varied with something for every pallet, yet not so extensive that you cant make up your mind. The restaurant is an intimate place, ideal for dates. My husband and I love it and treat ourselves to a meal here when we can. It is well worth the price you pay for the food and the service and atmosphere make it a perfect evening. The added bonus of the Deli means that you can enjoy the experience on the go at lunch time or to take home that small piece of your evening with you. We have often taken home a bottle of wine so we can enjoy the experience a little longer back at home. Nothing else in Aberdeen rivals it!
