This spot needs to get some love, it has only been open a few months but the food is FABULOUS. On a spur of the moment, I called in a takeout order and made some choices based on the menu. Language was a little difficult and when I opened the food at home, I realized I did not get what I ordered. But here I will point out two things: 1) It may have been my fault in the way I ordered, and 2) The good I got was so tasty, I really did not care. I took my grandma here for some korean food because we both love korean food!! The place itself is small but very welcoming, warm, and homey. We were hungry and ended up ordering quite a few dishes. We got the stir fry squid, galbi, and the beef short rib with cabbage. Stir fry squid - delicious, flavorful, and so good with rice Galbi - surprising my least favorite out of the three. My wife and I stopped into Kimchi Korean for a quick lunch before heading to the grocery store next door, and it turned out to be a awesome decision, from the moment we walked in, the staff welcomed us. I ordered the Spicy Garlic Fried Chicken, perfectly crispy, nice flavor, and served with a side of rice. My wife chose the Chicken Kimbap, which was delicious. We ended up sharing both dishes and still had leftovers to take home. So If you're heading to Aldi, do yourself a favor and eat here first so you don't grocery shop on an empty stomach. Stopped by Kimchi Korean before adulting aka grocery shopping. We were greeted by the sweetest woman, who had us seat ourselves, brought menus over, and took great care of us. Might be one of the best (or at least most authentic) korean spots I've been to in Jax yet! While the food itself isn't necessarily the best I've ever had, I think their charm comes from the friendly owner who makes sure you have everything you need and who stops by to chat if you're willing. And the care that they put into their food, ensuring care goes into the quality of their dishes. I also really love just how many options there are on the menu. I already want to go back to try more dishes. Some dishes I wanna highlight are the tangsuyuk and the jajangmyeon. Would def get those again. Came here on a Friday for dinner and we were the only non-Korean customers at that time, so we knew we were getting the real deal! My husband ordered the Pork Bulgogi and it comes with rice, kimchi, and another pickled vegetable. We were pleasantly surprised by the portion. Generous servings of pork and it was delicious! I got the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap, however, I would've preferred more meat. The flavors though, are on point! My meal also comes with a side of kimchi, and I must say, it's the best I have ever had! After seeing a couple of people post about this new Korean restaurant, I had to go check it out and give you the real skinny. Tucked away in a strip mall in Mandarin, you'll find Kimchi Korean. I was absolutely blown away it wasn't just another fad fusion "Korean" joint. This is the closest you'll get to an actual fast casual Korean restaurant in Korea. The owners previously owned a spot in Orange Park for the last eight years but decided to change it up. The husband and wife duo reign from both Daegu and Daejon (if you're Korean, you know this is a good thing). Most restaurant owners stateside special in Seoul style cuisine which is way more muted and toned down. This is not that. I started with their Haejanguk (hangover soup). Nice blend of soybean and spice. Is it the best I've ever had? No. But is it delicious for $18.99? Yes. The owners apologized for the styrofoam as their actual dishes have not yet arrived. Their kimchi is made in house and it's actually GOOD! I don't love fresh kimchi, but theirs slaps. I also got a tuna kimbap roll to go as well as their spicy rice cakes (tteokbokki). The kimbop is the same price as Lotte mart, but 100% better. Stuffed with actual meat, not filler. Their tteokbokki is the best I've had in Jacksonville. The levels of umami are unmatched. After chatting with the owners in my limited Korean for nearly an hour, I can tell you they are very good and honest people. Their food is good. I asked them their proudest dishes and they both said their Champong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and jajangmyeon (black bean noodles). I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. But for now, this is my new Korean spot. read more

Growing up on Korean food and cooking it quite well myself, it's always hard for me to swoon over a place. I did t just swoon here, I died and went to heaven. For my first visit I went for a staple bulgogi and a side a yaki mandu (fried dumplings). They offer it spicy if you like it that way and I like it that way. Unlike some places where they serve a baseline dish and add spice to your desire and it often feels a little disjointed, here it's one perfect flavor profile. The bulgogi was thin and tender and juicy while the dumplings were crisp on the outside and juicy and flavorful inside. The kimchi served with the bulgogi is fresh and perfect. An unworldly flavor explosion in your mouth. They also served a pickled Korean daikon and onion banchan on the side and it was so tangy and tart. They sent me home with another side of the banchans too. Service-10/10. Sweet and personable. They were so kind and welcoming. I loved chatting with them. It was like stepping into omma's kitchen for a family meal. Atmosphere-10/10. It's nestled in a nice location in a clean well kept strip mall. I saw a post about this place on a different platform and immediately decided to make a stop today knowing I would be passing by it on my way home. I'm always ecstatic when new Korean restaurants pop up, especially on my side of town because 1- I love Korean food, 2- I love Korean food, and 3- I love Korean food. The fact that' it's becoming more available speaks to the demand and I'm here for it! This place is literally hole in the wall in all the unassuming ways at the end of a strip mall. And, by my standard, the best dishes come out of them. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The establishment was clean and simple. No frills, easy to order, explanations of what dishes were if you're not familiar with the cuisine. Also, no wait since they had just opened, two other people seated and already mid-meal. I wanted to keep it simple being a first time patron, so I ordered 2 different kimbap- veggie and tuna. Because, you can tell a whole lot about someone's kimbap. I also ordered the seafood pancake. Portions were good size for the price. I watched my kimbap being made- so, it was indeed FRESH. The nori wrap was glistening. As for the taste? If I closed my eyes, it was like it was made by someone's Halmoni (grandmother) and packaged with love. I say that because I took it to go, and everything all the way down to my side of cabbage and cucumber kimchi, was packaged so neatly. Side note- I enjoyed this in my car as I waited for my kid to get out of school. Yes- QUALITY ME TIME, in the company of this delicious treat. I will go back to try other offerings. Come here for AUTHENTIC KOREAN FOOD. This place has legit flavors and doesn't Americanize the goodness of their food. It's tucked away next to Aldi but whenever you walk in, it's busy and does a steady take away/delivery set of traffic. I love the genuine hospitality of the owner. It was not salty, plenty of stuff (no shell stuff) in the soup, and spicy. Enjoyed every bit of it. 3 bonchon items but expected such for Jjamppong. More than what you get at the Lotte food court.
