Was on my back from taking my dog to the veterinarian in High River. Tank was running completely on empty and it was a miracle I was able to make it to this gas station. I had to run out of the house in pyjama pants and didn't grab my wallet (had to pay the vet with my credit card number saved on my phone).
I did have my passport though, as well as a picture of my credit card on my phone. I explained the situation and asked if there was any way I could give him my number along with my ID. He said no.
I asked if I could interac e transfer the money to him with my phone on the spot, he could accept it, and I'd get my gas. He said no.
I said "Is there any way I could take $20 in gas, and I give you my word I'll turn around and come back and pay for it as soon as I'm home." He said no.
I said "Well I'm stuck at the gas pump with literally zero gas - what should I do?" He told me "I don't know".
I had to call my girlfriend to drive out of town to bring me money. Before she got there, a friendly stranger I was talking to at the postal box insisted on giving me 20 bucks. I told him my girlfriend was already on the way and I didn't need it, and he made me take it.
Thank you to the kind stranger! And to the guy at the front... Come on man. You couldn't have had me leave my phone or passport as collateral, or simply helped out a stranger? Great customer care! read more
