I went for JCON, which was a free sci-fi/horror/fantasy convention. It wasn't anything fancy, but there were a lot of independent artists there and I got to meet a lot of interesting people! Some people even wore homemade costumes. There were several pieces of really cool art displayed in the center's small exhibition spaces. JCAL puts on many events throughout the year, from jazz concerts to children's festivals, as well as other music events, arts/crafts/jewelry making workshops. They have rotating art exhibits. They also have art classes and educational programs. A true community space, made for members of the community, in a lively enclave of Queens.

The studio is a Black& woman owned business, and the owner was professional, welcoming, and very clear with her instructions throughout the session.
