This guy will lie to you. He worked on my car for what I thought was coolant and he claims to have fixed it but it broke down 2 days later. He said he would come to me to look at it then never showed up. He charged me 150 to fix the mechanism for my hood then told me to use players to open it. He promised a refund which I've never received. This shop has done good work I'm sure but they are shady. Just go somewhere else. read more

I can't say enough good things about this shop! Mohammed and Eddie are consummate professionals, honest and generous. Initially, my car had trouble starting. My "go to" shop said the battery was good, replaced a few things and I was good to go. So far so good until it got really cold and didn't start again several days later! I figured it was a "frozen starter" after talking to some "do it yourselfers" and watching a YouTube video since the previous shop said the battery was good. I was frantic to find someone who could put a new starter in my car on a Saturday. While at the gas station, I happened to see and speak to a guy in the NAPA parts van who recommended "Kim's". They were open later than the gas station. Called them and Mohammed said he could get it and do it that day! When I finally got to the shop, I didn't have to wait long. Eddie and Mohammed did a diagnostic and the starter checked out. Then they checked the battery several times. It was losing amperage! They said the battery was bad. I really couldn't believe it at first. I called my other shop who put a new battery in the car less than 2 years ago. They said the battery was under warranty and I could come in and they'd put a new one in. I told this to Mohammed and Eddie. They said to bring it back to the other shop to get the battery. I asked what I owed them for their time and diagnostic. They said "no charge". I was blown away. I tried to give them money and they would not take it! I understand this is new ownership for "Kim's" so you might want to disregard any reviews that weren't positive previously. These guys at "Kim's" are honest and good! I had been a loyal customer of Kim's for over a decade. Kim's used to be a standard, reliable repair shop. The last three years that I have used them I've seen a dramatic decline in their competency in repairing any simple to complex car issues--I have no idea what has changed. If you don't need to know the details, my point is: do not bother with Kim's. They are useless. They aided in halfway destroying my car out of either incompetency and/or negligence-- while blithely cashing my hard earned money. They successfully made me feel like a fool for sticking with them and trusting them for as long as I did. Details: I used to exclusively use Kim's, but I tried out another mechanic closer to me when I needed basic maintenance done. That other mechanic did something silly to my car after replacing an EVAP valve. I took my car back to Kim's to repair the damage the other shop caused-- since up until that point Kim's had been nothing but reliable in my experience. Unfortunately, this string of issues became the beginning of the end with my dealings also with Kim's. They told me they could fix this issue, no problem. But, that didn't end up being the case. I have been in and out of Kim's ever since. My check engine light has been on for three years running after this EVAP incident, that they kept claiming it was fixed. Then they changed their tune. When I pressed them to explain why the check engine light still stayed on (even though they fixed the issue?), they would claim the sensors for the light were just plain "broken" and there is nothing actually wrong with the car. I stupidly believed them, because I didn't know any better. Then all sorts of other parts connected with my engine and exhaust system were beginning to fail over a short span of time. I have poured thousands of dollars into my car at kim's to try get this issue resolved, to get major parts replaced and replaced again when they weren't attached right, (still with check engine light constantly shouting at me!) I've done all this, only to have my car fail my most recent required emissions test--which absolutely should not have happened if Kim's had been doing any of their "fixes" correctly. I was stunned. When the emissions guy asked why I've never addressed the check engine light, I told the emissions test guys that my mechanic told me my sensor for the engine light was broken, which is why the light is always on. Verbatim, they replied "that's bullshit. Here are the THREE codes we found when we ran a diagnostic scan. Stop going to this shop, they are scamming you. Find someone else immediately". Took it to another repair shop (this time by recommendation of someone who knows more than me about cars) and the new mechanic confirmed the emissions guy's statements-- which was very troubling. He also confirmed that it all my current issues trace back to the issue from three years ago with the EVAP valve that Kim's supposedly had "fixed", which actually they apparently never did. They also found issues with the exhaust system that Kim's also claimed to have "fixed", but in reality was all one giant botched job. I am beyond furious that Kim's team of mechanics for mishandling my car's issues so badly. Or rather, lack of handling at all. I don't want to find out why their service stinks, so I'm never going back. All I can do is explain my experience publicly for others to be more cautious than I was. If you are considering going to Kim's, it's potentially as good as burning your money. Save yourself the headache and your car's longevity by going elsewhere. read more

The prices are reasonable, and if you don't need something, Mr Kim is the first to tell you so. If you cannot afford all of the repairs at one time, they will tell you what you can save for later. No fake charges, no trumped up repairs. No dishonest practices. Reasonable and realistic prices. We all take the used cars we are going to buy to Kim's for a complete checkup first. We have now used Kim's three times, because it is walking distance from our home. We went twice for basic oil changes and most recently for a major 100K checkup. The first two experiences were good, and the slightly higher cost was worth it for the convenience. But the third experience, with the major checkup, wound up costing almost 50% more than the estimate. We had expected a $1500 bill that included a set of new tires and since the work would take more than a day, we dropped off the car before heading out of town for a few days. When we returned, my husband went to pick up the car and was stunned to get a $2200 bill. Kim's had my husband's cellphone number but may no effort to contact him about the additional cost before proceeding and was unapologetic about the estimate being so far off. As far as we can tell, the work was done well but in future we will get other estimates before assuming Kim's is our best option, even if it is so convenient. read more

I would exactly echo the review below with the caveat that if you have an exotic problem with a brand new car (electrical circuit issue with a new Lexus, for example) you probably need a dealer, but for almost everything else Jim, Luis and Oscar are your men. Fabian left recently to return to Mexico, where he bought five house to rent and we miss him! I wanted to follow up my review because I had to visit this place again. The starter motor that was installed stopped working last week and they honored my warranty on the part. I'm not sure if James did not remember me from our last encounter but regardless he could not have been nicer. He exchanged the part with in a couple hours free of charge and gave me a new 90 day warranty. read more
