We had to try out Kim's Marina in our trailer. We had been to the Silos KOA on the other side of canyon ferry lake, and really enjoyed it, and so we made a reservation at Kim's for FULL hookups in a trailer spot. When we arrived on July 5th it was kind of a cluster. It was SO BUSY, and I wasn't even able to get them to answer a phone call before we arrived. I tried like 25 times. Our trailer spot was right next to the store and very close to other people. I could see from EVERYTHING that while it appeared that most things worked, it was also clear that much of the entire place was in total disrepair. Our electrical box was mostly broken and in pieces and full of spiders, bugs and debris. The very odd thing though, was our sewer pipe opening for dumping was 16 inches high! How in the world can you make liquid flow uphill?? So I explained the problem to them and they were helpful, and said they had a plan, but they disappeared for like an hour and all we could do was sit there in the blazing sun, unable to set the trailer up, and waiting to see how they would fix it. It was quite a long wait, but finally the guy came back and cut the pipe to the ground and then loaned me an additional tube to add to mine so I could even reach the dump spot, which was also in a bad location for our trailer. I have to say that they also came up with a fire ring for us, as it wasn't included in the camp spot! So even though we had a challenging check in and set up, eventually they did make it work for us, and we were grateful for that. I did come close to leaving at first, when we were waiting in the sun. So it was way crowded and jam packed together, but the really nice thing was the beach! It was crystal clear water with NO MOSS or slimy stuff on your feet. They had little floating docks you could climb up on and jump in from, as well as big floating tubes the kids could play on. So this is the nicest beach we have seen on the lake so far. The store was understandably overpriced, but pretty well stocked. Their "Game room" was full of broken games and trash though, and was NOT air conditioned like they said it was. Overall not a bad trip, but I give this resort 3 stars for this trip. They need to spend money on maintenance very badly! read more

My husband and I are Wy/Mt natives....I mention this as we love love the great outdoors. We've owned a Motorhome for the past 7 years, and have travelled from Montana to Pennsylvania, and North to South. BUT, never frequented local RV options. I selected Kim's Marina as temps were forecasted to be in the 90's and it's located on a section of the Missouri River, not far from where we live. The "resort" overall was not well maintained, litter, garbage and pet waste scattered everywhere....I was shocked by this as we are accustomed to Good Sam and KOA standards. I wouldn't bath my dog in their "bathhouse"....there was no wi-fi and we were off the grid for cell service. We were assigned a space usually occupied by a seasonal resident, the septic inlet was covered by cobwebs, my husband picked multiple rusty nails and screws from the RV parking pad, in no way was the site prepared for us. A complete and total disappointment. We left a night early. Definitely do not recommend... read more

We called to rent a boat and all was set up and done and confirmed. We drove over an hour to get here and were told they had no boats left that we were shit out of luck. The girl at the desk was so unfriendly and made no effort to try and help us out. Really!!! You told us we were set up. The staff is just wonderful -- they are always friendly and ready to help with whatever you might need to make your vacation better. Kim's offers boat rentals, kayaks, the best camp store I've ever seen, and happy fellow campers who will share fishing stories or a beer (or both!) with anyone walking by. There are so many improvements being made to this classic marina and campground; it's a longtime Helena, and regional, favorite and we are excited for another summer on the lake with our friends at Kim's. read more

The new owners are destroying this piece of heaven. Under the new ownership/management team, they have no regard for their paying customers. Their goals are to cram more campers into the same space, rendering virtually no personal space to enjoy the great outdoors. In doing so, you experience electrical outages and many inconveniences that you didn't pay for, and nothing that you did pay for. It is not possible to receive what you are anticipating or paying for. Last summer our neighboring campers were so unhappy because they could not keep the electricity running. We have a generator and that virtually saved us. One month into our seasonal contract, they threatened to move our trailer in order to make another spot for another incoming customer, thus not providing us what we paid for in advance. I would literally recommend any other campground around Canyon Ferry Lake, which is gorgeous. read more

Kims Marina was definitely a worse experience than my family and I expected it to be and here are the reasons why... Keep in mind that I am 18 years old going to be 19 and scheduled this since it was my birthday/graduation gift. 1. I called the number on the website many times with no answer at all, so I emailed them and asked about making a reservation. Turns out you have to call a whole different number (not the one on the website) to make reservations. Would've been a lot easier if the correct number was listed somewhere on the website. 2. They did not ask for my age during any email, text or call. Whenever my family and I got there the day of my reservation we were told how anyone who wants to drive the JetSki has to be 21+. Agin, this was not listed on the website or communicated to me in any way shape or form. Thank goodness I didn't go without my family. 3. When I emailed the correct person, she emphasized how they got "all BRAND new JetSkis" and how we would be getting one of them. But when we got there the day of the reservation our brand new JetSki was given to someone else. They did not have multiple brand new ones as I expected so were going to get an older one (which is okay but...) 4. My sister went to get the JetSki and drive it to where we wanted to set up for the day, but when she got out onto the water it immediately had a warning light and started beeping. We had to return it so it could get fixed. The rest of my family and I were trying to find a beach area with more space on the other side of the Marina (it was not that far away) while all of this was going on, but no staff member seemed to know how to get there even though it was connected to the RV park/Marina. 5. They said they would try and have the JetSki fixed at 2, we had already paid for a full day (which is about $600) and they close at 6. They fixed the JetSki and maybe drove it around for 30 minutes but at that point we were over it and left requesting a full refund. We also did not feel comfortable driving a JetSki that might break down. They also did not even offer any kind of refund or to take some money off of the original price we already paid. 6. Lastly, they definitely seemed disorganized (giving people wrong water crafts, not knowing where places of their marina are, and the overall reservation process). Overall, there was so many things that were not communicated and could have been avoided. I have been having a rough couple of weeks and have been excited for this day for so long and it was a real let down because I have been wanting to learn how to drive a JetSki. But thank goodness the Marina at Lakeside on Hauser had a pontoon boat available for us to use (way less than the price of 1 JetSki at Kims). I understand people make mistakes, but there was many other factors before the day of the reservation and a lot of this could have been avoided and communicated. This place struggles with accounting. I rented two spots, a boat and water trampoline. I was overcharged and after several attempts to call and correct, my concerns fell on deaf ears. Tina messed up my accounts so bad and then Luke said he would follow up but never did and ended up charging my card again a month later for fuel. Campground is nothing special, crammed like every rv park. Extremely loud party people up till 3am and zero campground monitoring or safety. Never going back! read more

Beware, this is not a resort, it's a poorly maintained campground/trailer park. The store is better but not much else. we reserved a specific camp spot because of its location and a boat slip for same reason. we arrived and were told our slot was given to someone staying a month, we were only staying a week. we were told it's a free for all just to pick a different space behind the store. same with the boat slip. choices were a mess and in disarray at best. we picked a spot and asked it be cleaned, finally after multiple attempts the store manager came down and cleaned the trash out of the broken fire pit and left. my husbanded ended up cleaning the rest of the space himself of all the debris and trash. Then came the power/water Soga. the hookup are more than 100ft from space and the water is one splitter for 2 camps yet there is 5 sites to share it. needless to say no one in the sites had enough cord and after having to borrow 3 30ft cords to attach to our cord, no one else could get enough cord to get power unless they bought it and none of us had water. Grounds and docks in disarray, docks held together in one spot by press board, trash and floats that should be holding dock in place floating around in the water. most of the trailers appeared to be long termers' who have built decks and were noted to be maintaining their own spaces. The store managers kids were loud partying late into the night on the first night, riding bikes through the middle of our camp sites and playing on golf carts throughout the day being very obnoxious at best. Pictures say more than I can sat is reserve at your own risk. State parks and BLM do a better job maintaining property and at a much better price! read more

Reserved a cabin on line, pictures looked great, on the lake, showed lake views as if that's what we would have. after driving all day and all evening we arrived at 8:00 PM. The whole place was On the lake but Campers tents cabins vehicles water toys basically all grouped in one big pile, Can't even see the lake from any part of Property. smack dab in the middle of everything Set four the cabins one facing the back of the other with 5 feet in between. Absolutely no view and no privacy you were looking in the window of your neighbors cabin if you were to Look out, and RVs, tents, Etc. we're all situated in a circular manner around the cabins, all facing your direction.$350 for 2 nights, a very small one room cabin with two full beds , Horrible mattresses pillows, furniture was crap, not even Actually considered furniture, shitty slabs of wood made a table. outdated and Dirty, Only a walkway in between the furniture, very small bathroom. When entering the cabinAll I could smell was Overwhelming smell of mildew , There was no getting away from it or getting any relief from it! It was obvious that place was molded through and through and has been for a long long time. Upon stepping into the bathroom, The floor began to sink as I stepped on it ,Not at all what the pictures online showed and not even close to being worth 350 bucks. I went to the front desk and requested a different cabin and they told me they did not have another one.I said OK I would like a refund, My 14-year-old daughter won't even step foot in that cabin and is refusing to Leave the car she has been in for the last 10 hours. ... then, all the sudden , another cabin Becomes available,She gave me the keys and told me to look at it ,and come back if I wasn't happy. I stepped in and noticed The bathroom sink had some sort of bugs coming out of the drain, pissed off! went back to the office and they had closed and locked the doors I am turned off the open sign, and would not answer. I went from front door to back door to front door to back door knocking and knocking them as I walked away from the front door, my daughter saw one of them walk in front of the window , and duck down quickly After seeing me walking away from the door, she then ran towards the back. Extremely un professional! Junkyard with help to match! After enough times, going back-and-forth knocking and knocking, apparently they realized I wasn't going to leave i:Finally one open the door then head to fire up the register again in order to refund my money. what was wrong with the room ?and they gave a very unconvincing oh really? Once they heard my problem. So now it's around 9:30 or so at night , we are at lake without any place to stay and have 45 minutes to the nearest town, no hotel Can you stay in that small town so must continue to Helena Helena which is another 30 or 40 miles. Currently there were some event going on in Helena as there were no rooms available and they were all 250 to 300 to even 400 per night., after driving around for an hour and a half we finally found a hotel That had availability. Which was $300 for one night , we were so tired and crabby , The restaurants had closed , as it was after 11,we could not get any dinner, But ended up driving around a little more looking for some. Spent six or so hours in our $300 hotel before it was checkout time the next day.Now instead of of staying on the lake and waking up and going rafting, we had to drive an hour to the lake, find a decent spot , Pull out our beach chairs are raft raft bring out early face,and then it started raining, Storming, lightning, winds the wind actually took my daughters hundred dollar sleeping bag and blew it into the lake and because of the lightning we could not do anything about it. We left andwe begin to look for a place for that evening and found nothing but a KOA withput bedding in their cabins so we went to the nearest small town a half an hour away and grab the beddingI. Once we got back ,to rent the cabin, it was too late and the KOA had closed. We are now both extremely irate and drove a half hour , returned the bedding , and. begin to head Two hours away to the next town that would possibly have a hotel. It is about 56 at night after we got done waiting out the storm that didn't go away.Day two out of three, dinner time, and was so pissed, I just kept on driving until we got home. Arrived at 3 AM but slept In a comfortable working big free bed and home. that was the end of our lake vacation.Spent over $1000 driving to and from and around looking for hotels just to spend two days searching and driving, 20to 30 hours of straight driving, With a six hour nap at a $300 hotel, a couple hours on the stormy Lake shore as we watched blankets sleeping bag float around on the lake. thanks Kim's marina for the great vacation!! The staff here is very helpful and accommodating! The website they have is very confusing and old but the staff was very understanding and professional about all of it. I reserved a cabin but someone was in it, they swiftly got me into a different cabin and were super helpful with every request. I also rented out a boat slip. The boat slip was super smooth to check in. They also explained how they have been looking for a new reservation site. They are all super professional and willing to help with anything that is asked! read more

We have stayed everywhere imaginable around Lake Canyon Ferry and all of the accommodations very greatly from place to place as well as services available based on whether or not u are on BLM, Forest Service, or National Park Land. As far as having sewer, water, electricity, etc this one of the best places to stay on the lake and as far as complaints about roads, docks, go you have to realize that while Maryann and Ax own the place they are under a 99 year lease which means they can only do what they are allowed to do. I believe the lease is up here in the next few years so that major investments will most likely show a return on their investment, you have to make a choice as to what you're priorities are. So if getting away and having enough electricity that you can keep food cold, go fishing and enjoy the outdoors then this is your place and they have enough amenities that u can turn on the AC on your in trailer and cool off from a day of fun in the sun, cook, have cell phone service, so you can make sure everyone at home is ok like elderly parents or that teenager who stayed home this summer to work a job. As far as someone's comment about being nickel and dimed to death, if you do a little checking with your cell phone u couldn't leave home without you will find that all of their services are in line with others in the area as well as being considerably cheaper than other similar services offered across the US. For those of you complaining about paying $5 for a shower you ought to see that shower on a Sunday morning after the people down the row from you have a drunken party all night until Ax goes out at 430 am to shut them down and instead of paying for every one of them to get a shower they will go in the store and pay for one shower and then spend the next 3 hours running every woman, teenager and child in their group through the shower room, then after they have monopolized it for several hours nonstop they have the nerve to leave the place looking like tornado hit it and this includes finding someone sitting on the counter with one leg in the sink trying to shave her legs and anything else that needs to be shaved as well as leaving used tampons, etc. laying around. You wouldn't leave a person's home that was kind enough to host you looking this bad so why would you do it here. Kim's Marina is a wonderful place provided you have reasonable expectations and if you respect the resort as well as the people you will find that MaryAnn and Ax's hospitality is hard to beat. We have traveled a great deal in our RV all over the US and their prices are more than fair. Finally if you should a issue with your trailer or boat, I have seen MaryAnn and Ax do anything they could so that you could continue your trip and continue to enjoy all of the activities that goes with recreation in this area of the state. This goes for anyone not just me and my family as I have watched complete strangers have major problems where one person in their group had a heart attack, be airlifted out. MaryAnn and Ax have then closed up, and moved their RV and boat to storage as the person left behind could not drive a 5th wheel RV attached to a pickup and a boat behind that. NOW WHERE CAN YOU GET SERVICE LIKE THAT IN A MAJOR EMERGENCY. MaryAnn and Ax are wonderful people who do the best they can given the constraints given to them within the regulations, so if you stay on the Lake at Kim's remember that you are there to enjoy the outdoors and disconnecting is good for all of us as our families often need reminding that read more

Cheap, nice people, snax, practical, fun, clothes, toys, candy, awesome. You can get a fishing licence here. You can get cloths and food. You can get many household items here. You can fish from here. And it is cheap here. You get to have fun and the dam bar is very close and it has food. The kitchen closes at 9 and there is a basketball court and a volleyball court with provided balls. A great vacation and a fun spot to take the family. read more

This place is such a joke and everything is just kind of cobbled together. First, don't stay here. If you don't follow that advice, then absolutely don't pay twice as much for a site with power. Why, you ask? Because one of their main breakers trips every 15 minutes which means you really don't have power. Then you have to walk up to the store to tell them that the power's out, again and again and again and again. When you do this, you will be met with a blank stare from the dingbat owner and after an awkward amount of time has past, she will then say, "ok". You would think they would come right over to fix the problem, but that doesn't happen either. After talking to campers that spend the summer there in their spaces, they said this problem has been ongoing for years. Yes, I said YEARS! There were eight camp sites on this particular circuit that all had 30 am service. They were running this circuit with a 100 amp breaker. Do the math, it doesn't add up and is an absolute code violation. There's clear potential of trying to run 240 amps through a 100 amp breaker. read more

We are very disappointed in customer service, especially when long time customers. They made it very clear by hanging up on a loyal customer they do not respect customers. We have been staying at Kim's Marina every year for over 10 years. We have been told year after year it is first come first serve with the ball field/grassy area. However, we get there early to get a spot every year for the past 5 years and yet we are still getting commotion every time we show up to take a first come first serve camping spot. We have even asked to reserve a spot and been told that we could get there early and set up a tent or something but there are no reservations. However, every year someone says they reserved it and the owners of Kim's Marina stand up for them. We are always told "NO RESERVATIONS" and are never able to make any. We then show up pick a spot and get told we are at fault. They do not stand up for customers that have been going to them for years and their prices are extremely high. We will never be going back at this point. To have to pay to use a shower when you pay $20 to even set up a tent is ridiculous. Then they add another $15 for boat storage and $10 to launch the boat. Total that's $45 a Day with no hookups! So unhappy with their service. We highly recommend not to bother. Should you need to deal with a commotion or a dispute do not rely on the owners. Instead of coming to us they hung up the phone in regards to the issue and sent a worker up to deal with the issue. I'm a disappointed customer. I can also say my complaint is not the first complaint about this that we have heard. We just can't deal with it any longer. Especially when we pay over $600 to camp over July 4th. read more
