Not only did they overcharge originally, but they also were asking for $149 to fix THEIR OWN MISTAKE. When I tried to speak to a manager, I was locked out of the building watching the entire staff laugh and point at me. They even went so far as to talk to the customers on the phone asking if I'm out there and not to let me in. They threatened to call the police on me for trying to get my taxes fixed after their mistakes. If you're trying to find a place to get your taxes done, avoid this one at all costs.

I did this to ensure I would have plenty of time to prepare and hopefully avoid extra charges by waiting. I have an accounting background, and essentially served up everything he needed to make this filing as straightforward as possible. During the 2 or 3 phone calls we had in February and March, Mike always stated he would address the filing, "in the next week" and never indicated any sort of problem or concern. He could never indicate how much he was going to charge me after asking him several times, which should have been a red flag for me, but I just wanted it finished so I ignored my gut. After multiple missed deadlines I was completely abandoned with no communication or progress. Completely radio silence. (unreliable) Mike uses a secure portal that allows you to see activity, and of all the files and info I uploaded, many were never opened or viewed by him. The last time I spoke with Mike was March 10th. Since then I have called 4 times, left 2 voicemails, and sent him an email with ZERO responses. Since Mike is an old man, I started to worry that something may have happened to him. I had a friend call his number, and Mike answered on the first ring, and indicated he had "plenty of availability to take on new customers"... (dishonest). Mike's unreliability and dishonesty put me into a situation where I had to scramble to find another accountant 1 week prior to the deadline and pay a premium to do so. If you are still not convinced to spend your money elsewhere, consider the following: Mike always talks with a tone of frustration and aggression; talking to him is never a calm or relaxing experience and after every call I felt like I had just had a heated argument with an overly opinionated uncle. His views are antiquated and he's never hesitant to share them. Look at his website - he is quick to tout his faith and honesty and yet he is perfectly okay being dishonest. For someone who has made a career out of accounting and math, this simply doesn't add up. Go somewhere else, you'll thank me.

I usually am able to file online with Turbo Tax but had several tax situations that were beyond my capabiliites this year -- I lived in several states, some with state taxes, some without, and had rental income. So, I took everything in to H & R Block and with only 2 appointments for 1 hour each of my time (I'm sure there was much more time spent by Gail behind the scenes), my federal and state taxes are in order. And how would I have known that the city of Kettering requires a city tax filing as well? Gail was able to get me more federal return money than I had envisioned and straightened out my state tax obligations to my satisfaction. H & R Block's fees seemed well worth the price to have this behind me now.

They were rude and did not return calls promptly. Apparently only wanted payment and once they got payment that was it! When I asked for an appointment because I wanted to discuss tax prep (which should have already been provided to me as a client), they declined telling me to call them at the end of May. I feel my taxes were done incorrectly and I will not use this place again. I could tell this place has a lot of very unhappy employees and many were let go or quit and supposedly even the new owner Lisa is unavailable and unapproachable to help me, the client. There is no excuse. I paid for service and received poor service and not full pleasant service. Very dissatisfied customer.

After dropping off our materials, they were finished in about 1 week. Very quick, professional, and helpful along the way as this was our first experience not doing TurboTax. Had everything in a nice folder--near and tidy, and even had instructions on how to make your payment to the IRS. I would gladly take my business here again.
