Rehearsal studios are slowly becoming my thing, given this recent discovery that non-musician housemates are not so accommodating of the need to rehearse for hours at a time with a group, or the incessant repetition of a few bars until we get it right. These studios, part of Victoria University's music program, were a delight to use.
Set up to be whole band friendly and comfortable to use for long periods of time, the rooms are sound-proofed and come complete with PA and kit and some other equipment as well. There is also the option of recording your jam (for not much extra) or professionally recording some songs. This is quite like any rehearsal studio.
What sets apart Kindred from the others is the main room. It sells drinks (and Drinks for the over 18s), food (including gluten-free pies!), strings and other emergency needs, and has a stage so that the studios can put on gigs from time to time. It's really setting itself up as a hub for new bands in the Western suburbs, and I really loved playing there. read more
