I've watched Washington weather for over four decades, and I've never reacted to a forecaster the way I do with Ashley Ruiz. Her delivery feels like it's aimed at a third‑grade classroom. I literally switch the channel the moment she appears. I've moved to KIRO weekends because KOMO is struggling too, but at least their team speaks to viewers like adults. Last week it was gas price...she said that the prices were so high in Washington state because of the lack of availability. Not once did she mention the high taxes. That was corrected the next day. Tonight she said stocks to a big dive due to the lack of negotiations with Iran. Does she not even follow the news stocks were down this morning but sharply rebounded! I am so disappointed in the fact that their political bias has overshadowed their past focus of providing unbiased news so the public can view Truth and make their own opinions based on that. first of all I must say that most of the reviews on Yelp of this station are one-time single issues that elderly people have an issue with and for some reason feel the need to be heard. The numbers are that this is the #1 most viewed station in the Seattle -Tacoma area. the quality and professionalism are unmatched, and the unbiased news delivery is immaculate. The focus on local issues and stories makes this station stand out over its competitors like Krio or Komo. The graphics package is clean and easy on the eyes and the structure of their news shows is coherent and concise. They have really brought local news into the modern era. Also, I really enjoy their weather segments. If you're going to watch news in Seattle, watch King 5. read more

But I don't understand the sensationalism of playing the audio 911 calls received in regards to the seaplane crashing by Whitby Island killing all 10 people aboard. If you are a local small business and you get a call from them asking to be their exclusive ______ for the area it is an advertisement scam. By king 5 they scam you for your money telling you what services you will be receving since you will be 'partnering' up (what I call it because of the title given) .They are going to give you a title with King 5 in it. They sugar coat what they give you and lock you in for a year before you see what they are doing. We are King 5 news exclusive cleaners for the auburn area. I used to enjoy watching Mimi and Jake on KONG from 7 to 9 AM. They apparently have been replaced by Christine Pham! I am not a fan! The team of Mimi, Jake, Rich and Shante were a dynamic news team in that time slot! There have been so many changes at King5 that you can't count on who will be presenting the news. King-5 is terrible. They select each day a hand full of stories and repeat, repeat and repeat them. The coverage is limited and poor. Some of the anchors are very biased. Joyce Taylor is one of them. She NOT qualified as an anchor and her direct interview reporting caused Carmen Best to retire. Shame at the highest level. Watch anyone else, but NBC Seattle is beyond broken. It looks like there are a few sizes too small . She's wearing white dress that appears to be made of the same fabric as leggings. I can literally see the indentation where her navel is! I stopped watching King5 Morning News about a year ago after being a viewer for over 25 years. The cringe-worthy attempts at humor, the forced laughter, the failed attempt to project a lighthearted attitude didn't work for me. Turning a news show into a news/entertainment program requires the right mix of talent, and King 5 doesn't have it. The weather and traffic reporters, however, are quite good. (Thank you for dumping Tracy Taylor, who tried to turn the traffic report into her own personality cult.). The channel's newscasters are mediocre at best, with little or no background knowledge, they're talking heads. The "Take 5" afternoon show is a huge nothing burger. Four or five empty headed yuppies, who cares what they think? So incredibly lame. Someone please pull the plug on this disaster. read more

She was smart and entertaining while delivering what is typically pretty boring information. She captivated her audience. My wife and I have stopped watching King 5 since learning she was let go. We're hoping another Seattle channel picks her up soon. We've been missing her and had to seek out the info on her whereabouts to discover she's been let go. Believe me, there are no other weather people, or news people for that matter, where we have remembered their names let alone sought out their whereabouts after not seeing them after a while. I miss the days of Dennis Bounds, Lori Matzukawa, Jeff Renner. Since they retired, the station has lacked consistency in the evenings. Swapping anchors between the 6 and 7 newscasts is annoying. Broadcasting from home might have been required in the early days of the pandemic but now detracts from the viewers' wish to return to normalcy. Copeland - why are you not in the studio? Weather and sports crew - cute dogs, Emmy awards on shelves and backyard decks are not professional! On a different note: Tony Black needs to go. It was very painful to watch on 2/26/19 at the 5pm newscast Kaci A. Report on the up coming testimony of Michael Cohen. She basically gave no details just a description of anything he might say. This is POOR REPORTING. She is not a reporter. She tries to be comedic but isn't funny on your station. She was hired when Michele Lee took maternity leave. Now Michele is back. Natalie B. Who was your OUTSTANDING POLITICAL REPORTER who left for Washington DC would have never given such a poor report. Where is Rhonda Lee? I've been watching King 5 for 30 years and I found Rhonda's unique personality very refreshing. She made the weather really fun, and personal. I actually wanted to watch weather when she was on. Me and my roommates met her randomly after a baseball game when she ran out of the station to say hello to us and talk about the weather. She was a great addition to the team and made the news more than background noise, she will be greatly missed. I will go back to getting my news from reading it on the internet. read more

My wife and I stopped watching King 5 News in Oct 2018. The format changed and Ronda Lee is gone. The broadcasts are are thin on content now and the revolving door on talent is annoying. Traci Taylor leaving was a good change as the traffic had gotten excessive in its presentation. Channel 5 must be up for sale or is going broke by the looks of the News. read more
