The food service was amazing the fries were crunchy and the beef empanadas are amazing!

As my trip in NY continues, I saw this mini restaurant online. The venue itself is small, so eating here is convenient for 1 or 2 people....not for a large group. I had the chicken nachos and the chicken empanadas. Both delicious and fresh tasting. Another great thing is they cook the food right in front of you. They don't have a wall between kitchen and serving area, so you get to see your food being prepared well. Finally, parking here is beyond limited so walking to this place or having it deliver it to your place is recommend it. On a side note, the crew in here is hilarious. They roast each other non-stop!! I stayed in this neighborhood and got to exit the train to the fabulous smells coming from food carts. One night I wanted a bit more so I stopped in King Empanadas on my walk back to my place. It was late and they weren't busy and I got to watch them make everything from scratch. My empanadas were truly delicious and I wished I'd gotten a few more. There's a green, creamy sauce that came with that I'd like to have bottled up to have on pretty much everything I eat. I also had tostones and I could have left those there. They were pretty flavorless and not what I'd been hoping for. I should have just had a couple more empanadas instead. The whole thing was less than $10 and it's been two weeks and I'm still thinking about the empanadas. It was perfect and I wish I could have more. read more

Definitely not the King - that would be Empanadas Cafe. Me and my class of 32 students descended on them and they handled our large order with good grace, but not much speed. The ham and cheese in the flour shell was the best we tried. Chicken and beef in a corn shell was bland. The mayonnaise-y green sauce didn't help much, either. My class didn't seem to care - they scarfed them all down in a matter of minutes, and we went on our way. read more

This has been my 4th or 5th time coming here and the food is consistently amazing! I have tried the salads, the quesadillas, the empanadas, and the shakes and they are all great! What I especially enjoy is that the food is made fresh when you order. The chef is great and the staff is always friendly. Also, it's always clean. I work in the corona area all the time and great food in a clean place that I'm not scared to go into is hard to come by! Definitely recommended!! read more

I would give this place negative stars if the app would let me. Unfortunately I never got to taste the food so my rating is based upon my ordering experience and lack/ miscommunication from the restaurant. Ordered delivery from this location yesterday, 3/5/2018. Food didn't arrive in the specified hour. Called the restaurant after an hour and was told the driver was coming. However, half an hour went by with no food delivery (1.5 hours passed from order submission). Called location again several times and was met with a busy signal. When I finally got through, the attendant put me on hold for 10+ minutes and never came back. Yelp's customer service also had difficulty reaching the restaurant. When she finally was able to reach them, they informed her they needed more time to cook the food. After 2 hours of waiting for the food, I requested yelp to refund my purchase. Yelp's customer service representative was very prompt and professional on her responses and she was able to fully refund me. I hope this restaurant works on communicating with its customers in a better manner. If the food was going to be late, notify the customer. Do not tell the customer one thing (driver on his way) and then tell yelp another thing (need more time to cook food). Please be wary of ordering from this restaurant. They had no problem charging my credit card right away but failed to deliver the food. read more

This is the second time ordering from this establishment. Each time the order has been incorrect and the woman taking the order, Bonie, has neither been pleasant nor helpful. When bringing to her attention that we were overcharged and the orders were wrong she grew defensive and offered no resolution stating that our office is too far for her to send the correct order. Why accept the delivery order to begin with? If I could offer a negative star rating, I would. If you are going to be in the customer service industry you may want to brush up on your customer service skills. Ps - don't ask for green sauce, you're just wasting your breath. read more

I had a craving for some authentic empanadas and found this spot online. I ordered the food for delivery through uber eats, so I don't have any info on the inside service. I ordered a chicken and cheese empanada, and some shrimp spaghetti. The empanadas were so fresh and tasty! Wish I had ordered more. The shrimp spaghetti was a lot of food and worth the price. It was baked with cheese and veggies and very flavorful. It also came with a piece of cheese garlic bread. I would definitely order from them. read more

These bad boys serve the "Are You Serious? Good food." I can't have enough of the empanadas here. I've tried all of them except the pork options and they are all good. I know pork is so good. But I don't eat it. But judging by the other flavors, they are probably really good as well. My favorites are the Sweet plantain, Tuna and Chicken. When I am at work and hungry I can't go wrong with ordering these bad boys for $1.75 a piece. I mean are you kidding me. The burritos are also slamming. Ok thats enough. I found a diamond! Very surprised with the fresh and exceptional service.I placed an order for delivery using the Yelp app and for what ever reason it went in as a pickup. I was waiting for my order when I received a call from the restaurant to assure that I was not lost, they were worried that my food would get cold. After investigating we found out the order was sent as pick up vs delivery. I explained to them what that I wanted the food delivered. The lady whom helped me over the phone was outstanding she arranged for my order to be deliver. Within 7min my food was at the door. I had the chicken taco. Oh my oh my from an empanada place ?&@!& surprise the soft tortilla was perfect and fresh. The chicken in the taco was nicely grilled, accompanied with some onions and cilantro OMG I now love their taco!! Ordered a chimi (Dominican hamburger), tostones very good. The tostones were perfect hot, and not saggy. Now now don't think I didn't order an empanada after all it's an empanada place, orders the cheese one should I say more. With the plethora of restaurants that serve empanadas in this area of Queens, I started my empanada taste tour at King Empanadas. The restaurant is a small non-descript place with (if I recall) one dine-in table with the rest of the seating being along a diner style counter with bar stools. I ordered the following empanadas: cheese filled, maduro & cheese, ham & cheese, and a beef. The cheese was very yummy. Not sure what type of cheese was used but it was similar to mozzarella in texture and was equally rich. The corn empanada dough was nicely textured with a fine grain of corn in every bite. Ham and cheese was tasty too but the dough itself was a bit greasy. I probably attribute this to this empanada using a white flour based dough which probably absorbed more oil during the frying process. Queso and maduro was solid, but I wish I could have gotten a bit more sweetness from the maduro as I tasted more of the cheese and empanada dough (same white flour based empanada shell as the ham & cheese). Maybe they could have used a more ripe plantain? Beef empanada was made in the corn based dough and was solid but nothing exceptional to elaborate on. Being the first stop on my empanada trek, this was a nice experience to start off. Really apologize for not posting any pictures of the empanadas as I bought these during my work lunch hour and was in a rush to get back to the office. read more

I still haven't received my food 2 hours after ordering. The restaurant contacted me after an hour (the time the food should have already been delivered) to say that they were out of an item I had ordered. Why they waited so long? No idea. Ok fine. Another hour has now gone by and when I called for an update, the woman who answered the phone put the phone down and was talking in the background and basically said, well food is not here if you want you can call seamless and cancel I can't do anything. Seeing my previous review on ROTD reminded me I need to update. I've had Latin Breakfasts here and they are great! Hearty and cooked to order (eggs in various styles, Papa's frites, chorizo...) perfect start to a big day. I've also had a couple dinners there (skirt steak, lobster salad, quesadillas..). I try to bring a friend or two so I can try their dishes but it's also a friendly but laid back bachelor hang when I need it. I work nearby in the weekends and when the crew is getting along we treat each other by bringing back empanadas. The office fave is maduras. read more

The food is good at this place havent had anything I didnt like!! Not only do they have the traditional dominican food but alot of munchy foods which is down right awesome and a breathe of fresh air. (since I grew up eating beans and rice). Ive had the quesadilla which is tasty the burgers are good and and priced well.Also they have a wide selection of smoothies and natural juice which is refreshing on a hot day. My co- workers and I ordered about 25 empanadas. They took 90 mins to deliver. Then when we got the order we were missing one and the orders were labeled wrong. One of my coworker ordered Chicken and they labeled "Pollo" on the bag. When she bit it it was really Hawaiian, she is allergic to cheese!!! Thank god we work at a medical office. There was a total of four bags labeled incorrectly with the wrong orders and a missing empanada. And on top of everything all of them were cold. I took the time to call and let them know what happened I had to explain myself three times and the last women I got on the phone with was very rude, she simply told me to send the order back after everyone had already bit into it. She also stated that they were not making chicken that day (which if it was the case they failed to notify us) and that is why she did not get her chicken order but yet my other coworker had ordered 6 chicken empanadas and she got hers.
