My family has been using this fabulous bike shop for years and have nothing but good words to say about the proprietor, Colin, and the service he provides. Colin clearly takes great pride in his work and has built-up a huge network of regulars. His prices are incredibly reasonable and he's the most honest guy you'll ever do business with. In a city renowned for its bike repair cowboys, it's so refreshing to find a decent, hardworking expert who really knows and cares about bikes - and his customers. Which is why we keep coming back and will continue to do so.

Upon arrival, i was a novice cycler, and had not tried to bike for a great many years. He knew exactly which cycle was for me, which one was perfect for my partner, and fitted us with seats, locks, and child seats for an extremely reasonable price. The best part is - free tune-ups and quick fixes! Inevitably, your bicycle will need some TLC, just bring it back by the shop and Colin fixes it fast and free of charge. It's really comforting to know that businesses like this still exist in the world. If you need a bicycle, enjoy getting a good deal, prefer small businesses, and like fast and friendly service, head to University Cycle. If you don't like those things, well then that's you I guess.

I ended up with one of the Light Blue cycles BUT they did not pressure me into anything, as soon as the better weather comes I think I will be back there (just before we moved someone stole both my bike and my husbands!)

I had just bought a bike for 30 pounds and after a few weeks of using it I had my first flat tire…read more I carried it all the way from Huntington Road to Light Blue Cycle Center because they had good reviews. Once I got there, one of the repair guys, Ben, looked at it and told me that he can't just fix my tube. He will have to put on a totally new tire as the current one has lost most of its profile. Although I was annoyed that I have to pay another 20+ pounds on my 30 pounds bike, Ben seemed nice and I trusted his expertise. Literally 4 days later that exact wheel stopped turning through the frame, since it was too heavily bent. I went to the nearest bike store and asked them if there was anything I could do about it, especially since I had just bought a new tire and tube for it. He told me that there was nothing to be done, that both wheels were pretty much useless, and that he could get me new wheels but that would just be a rip off and not worth the money. He also asked me why I would spend 20+ pounds on a broken wheel. He told me that this should have been very obvious to anyone who knows a thing or two about bikes. That's when I realized that Ben sold me his products even though he should have probably advised me differently. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." -- I am not going there again!

As a visitor to Cambridge U.K. from the United States, I wanted to rent a bicycle for the weekend -…read morenot a townie (cruiser), which is typical here, but a true road bike (I'm in training for distance). Visited one proprietor who wanted to rent me a bike, with a hefty security deposit - but no helmets to offer. So, I walked 50% farther than the first bike shop, to end up @ Chris's Bikes in Cambridge, UK. The proprietor, Chris Lloyd, is a friendly, helpful, and most importantly knowledgeable person. I explained my previous experience, and that I was hoping to have access to a bike for Saturday (today) and Sunday, and that Mr. Chris Adams of the Cambridge Cycling Club had recommended him. Well, even though Mr. Lloyd has the most modern accessories and cycles offered in his shop, it was like stepping into the 19th century walking in. He sized me up, got the details, fitted me to a NEW GIANT DEFY bicycle (!!), and handed me a spare inner tube, a new bike pump, tire-removing tools, and HELMET! - for 10% less than the other shop wanted to charge - and NO hefty security deposit - just a handshake! I was shocked. I said, "....you can take a photocopy of my passport, or my drivers license"....he refused. I did give him my mobile telephone, and agreed to meet him at a specific time on Monday morning, to return his property. Amazing to meet a fellow like this, anywhere on the globe. If you're in Cambridge U.K., Chris Lloyd deserves your business. Chris went out of his way to help us and rooted through stock to find exactly what we wanted and then also did a great deal on the price ven Hugh we were in no position to push for a discount. He did all of this in a bright happy demeanour with a real interest in what we were doing and why. He made a crisis into an chilled, relaxed late Friday afternoon shopping trip. Highly recommended
