They always keep it clean an have the best quality food compared to some of the other surrounding King Tacos that tend to give you more squishy fat than actual meat. King taco's food is bomb. Burritos, tacos, sopes, anything. I don't like their agau de jicama or how their tables and chairs feel sticky but ignore that and the food is great. The combination burritos are very small for $6.75. The worst part is that 75% of it is rice! I ordered a combination Carne Asada burrito and the majority of it was rice. There was very little meat. If I wanted a rice burrito I would've ordered a rice burrito. I will say it was tasty but not a very good value. I do not think I will ever come back here again. read more

I have always been a big fan of Mexican food. This place takes it to a whole new level. I got 4 tacos ( 3 chicken and 1 beef). It was honestly some of the best ones I've ever had, their green sauce is what keeps me coming back! Definitely do not recommend this place they have terrible customer service. As soon as I walked in I saw a cook treating a customer very poorly because he was missing food; and I walked out with the same experience. I went up to the cook and asked politely if I can have the three tacos I was missing I new they were busy, and I know how stressful the job can get. The cook lashed back to me very unprofessional and said he wouldn't give me the food I was missing even after checking what was given to me and what was on the receipt. All I have to say is combination burritos. This place is not a fancy place to go eat or a place to take your first date. This is a place you bring your long time girlfriend to, or when the clubs are closed down you come to eat here. I thoroughly enjoy the food from king taco, I've had it once before and it was great. But when I came tonight to get my second fix, I was denied by a very surly cashier. I placed a large order for a family of 4 and was paying with my fathers debit card as I'm underage and he pays for my families meals. The cashier Rosalia asked for my Id after I handed her the card, our last names matched up of course, but she said she could not do it due to it not being my card. even after I explained to her that it was my father's card and for the whole family, she still would not let me use the card. NOTE: Before you read on, please note that I am writing this review on the basis of my first visit, so take this with a grain of salt. Everyone will have different things to say about this particular location and King Taco as a whole, so my review may not truly represent how many people truly feel about King Taco. Today I had the opportunity to try King Taco on Garvey Ave. A friend of mine really hyped me up about this "King Taco" place that I had never heard of and had never been to. I say this as a San Gabriel Valley denizen for over 14 years, so you could say it's ironic that I had never been to such an iconic place. I was very excited and was very curious about King Taco so I told myself, "Why not? It'd be great to try King Taco for the first time!" I ordered 2 carne asada sopes, a carne asada quesadilla (for take-out), and a hibiscus tea. The moment I walked through the door, I could smell the meat on the grill. I was fortunate enough to come at around 4:15pm, as there was no real line. It did take a while for me to get to the front but at that point, it didn't bother me. Once I got to the front, I made my order. Interestingly enough, I can't remember if the lady at the register greeted me. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed that she did. My order came up to $13.51, which was very alarming to me because I could have sworn it should only have costed $12, give or take 50 cents. I looked at the receipt and noticed that the lady at the register charged me for a large drink. She never asked me if I wanted a regular or a large, so she charged me for a large hibiscus tea. The order took a long time to get to me, and the lady never prompted me to get my hibiscus tea; she did call put to a female customer that her horchata was ready. I don't even want to delve into the topics of gender or race-based discrimination here, but if that's what it comes down to, so be it. One member of the kitchen staff, a moustached man, was very friendly and gave me my food and only 1 pack of salsa verde. King Taco's policy states that every burrito and/or 2 tacos or so gets you 1 pack of salsa verde or salsa roja. Additional packs of salsa are 69 cents each. There are way too many kids here and customers here are pretty rude. As far as the food goes, it wasn't half bad, bit it wasn't that good. I never had sopes before, and the hibiscus tea tasted like grape juice. The sopes were good; the corn meal base had refried beans, carne asada, as well as shredded cabbage and crumbled cotija cheese on top. I smothered some salsa verde on top and I would say that it was a good first experience. My only complaints about the food was that I didn't get very much in terms of quantity and the flavor of the carne asada was, at best, just below average. It had more of a lime-flavor to it, which isn't bad; but it only tasted like lime juice and the carne asada was very dry. The cabbage and cotija cheese were probably what made the sopes stand out in regards to flavor. I waited in line to get a refill on my drink, and they told me to waot in line; then they told me only seconds later that I didn't have to wait in line and told me to go to the front of the line. They tried to charge me 86 cents for a refill on my large hibiscus tea, which I vehemently refused. The fact that I had to settle for a mediocre meal and a beverage that tastes like grape juice is absolutely pathetic. People on this Yelp page claim that King Taco is a quintessential gem of SoCal cuisine; I would definitely say otherwise. In-N-Out is, by a margin, far better than King Taco. Old-fashioned burger parlors, fusion food and trendy, unique food concepts are what truly make up SoCal cuisine. King Taco has no place in this category. It doesn't even come close. Hell, I could settle for Chipotle, although food posoning is still a large issue with them; in fact, I would go so far as to say that Chipotle tastes more authentic than this garbage. Would I ever come back to King Taco? Not to this location, at least. I've been told that the store on Peck Road is better. Congratulations, King Taco! You have just lost a potential frequenting customer. With food and service as poor as yours, you won't get very far. I might only be one person, but believe me: you'll be in for a surprise. I love the all beef burritos! The beef is finely chopped and it is filled with lots of onions, cilantro and all that tasty beef juice- nice lime flavors going on and top it with their hot salsa verde. Writing this makes my mouth water. No rice and no beans....just pure meat. Definitely a carnivore's burrito. This may actually sound gross if your not use to it but the meat is packed with so much flavor you really don't need the rice and beans to take away from it. I love their flour tortillas too. Over the years I have noticed the burritos getting smaller but it's now a decent size for me to almost finish and I still get that food coma feeling afterwards. I've been coming to King Taco for years, this location is better than the one off the 710 FWY- that one scares me as I've only made it out to that one on weekend late nights when surrounded by cop cars and sketchy people. This one is safe and huge inside, lots of tables but I always get it to go, lots of men in there that sit and stare. I was here yesterday and let me tell you... Their portions are horrible. We ordered a box nachos, 2 burritos and 3 tacos. The meat on the nachos looked like someone just poured a tablespoon of meat. The burritos looked like a taco wrapped up. And the tacos were packed of meat. Make no damn sense. The noise is horrible. They talk over the intercom and you can hardly make up to what they're saying. And the girl ELENA CASTRO, OMG! Rudest and bitchest person I have ever encountered in a restaurant. being skeptical of mexican fast-food chains kept me from trying king taco. i figured there's no way it could compare to a stand or a truck. we finally gave it a try, since there was nothing else open on garvey after midnight. i was pretty impressed. this place is legit. yeah the food was overpriced, but it was on par with a decent street taco. i especially liked the spicy-sweetness of the al pastor and the lime flavor in the asada. some real interesting taste sensations. the salsa roja provided added kick. definitely did not need extra since being a spice wuss, i was already breaking a major sweat. the refried beans in the gf's burrito were tasty as well. kinda wish i ordered a side of em. my only disappointment came from the gf's sweet tamale. the consistency of the masa just wasn't right. guess that's why it's called king taco not king tamale. but it actually turned out way better than i thought, challenging some of my preconceived notions. given the choice, i'd rather go to a good street vendor. although when the late night munchies call, i wouldn't think twice about hitting this place up.... read more

I usually love King Taco, but my last visit changed my mind. I came in on Monday night at 8:45 ish. It took us about 15 minutes in line to order. We were waiting for about 20 minutes and noticed that multiple people after us were receiving their orders before us. We went to ask and the lady said we were the next ticket. Another 20 minutes passes by and we're STILL waiting. Turns out they said we never placed an order because they didn't have a ticket. After that, she took our receipt and hung it up along the line of the other receipts. Another 10 minutes passed and she was still passing out other people's orders. My boyfriend went up A THIRD time and she said it was "coming up". I understand that it was kind of busy, but if you "lost" my ticket, shouldn't you be making my order right away?
