It took me awhile to find this place. I was looking for their old place called Taipei Golden Garden Pork Chop Noodle & Rice inside the Diamond Plaza on the other side of the freeway. After glancing at their picture, I finally found their new address and name....Jin Yuan. Small little restaurant located inside Pho Ha, Smart & Final & Asia Buffet plaza. I ordered the soft tofu with 1,000 year old egg & pork chop rice. Soft Tofu with 1,000 year old egg (Pi-Dan) - the soft tofu was fresh & tasty. If you had never had 1,000 year old egg or Pi-Dan, it's an acquired taste! It's kind of like eating stinky tofu....yes it's not for everyone! Pork Chop Rice - white rice, with minced pork marinade on top, side of hard tofu, broccoli, a bowl of soup of the day which was like a miso based soup with seaweed, tofu and egg, & of course fried pork chop. Maybe I'm not ordering the right thing at this place. Being that my dog's name is Porkchop, I skipped out on ordering the Porkchop at this place and stuck to the chicken. There was more than one time that I ordered the fried chicken dry noodle and every single time there was something wrong with it. Once they gave it to me in soup, I didn't mind but it wasn't what I ordered. I was hoping it would be good but the soup was super bland. As for the dry noodles, not very tasty at all. They come in a lump, all stuck together and a bit difficult to eat since its a giant ball of noodles. The noodles are either over cooked or not cooked enough. The chicken is ok, seasoned well but wayyy too oily for my taste (I ended up always drying up the oil with a napkin). Portions are decent size and filling. I've been searching for a place for solid Taiwanese pork chop and I think I've found it! Jin Yuan is actually the namesake of a very famous pork chop in Taiwan. I went in with a little hesitation because too many times I've expected so much for the places that take the names of popular local dishes as their own, but Jin Yuan is pretty solid! Of course, I went for the Pork Chop Rice, and comes with a crispy fried pork chop that's nicely marinated. It's not thin and flimsy like many places and has a good bite to it! I can eat at least 3-4 of these awesome fried pork chops. The best part is definitely adding the worchestire sauce, which is perfect with pork chop. But it is not any worchestire sauce, it is the same one I've used as a kid when I lived in Taiwan! Definitely added some nostalgic factor. The rice had a bit of minced pork on top, with broccoli and bean curd, with half a braised egg. Also tried a bit of the minced pork rice and it is really just a bowl of rice with minced pork. It's not bad but had better minced pork. The boiled veggie (with a-chai) dish also has the same minced pork poured over it. Lots of people here were also eating the pork chop with the noodles. The chicken leg rice looked good as well! What I should've ordered though was the steamed bamboo. I sat near the front so I could see the little cooker with the bamboo in it and every table ordered it so they kept on getting more from the cooker! Def trying that next time. Sometimes they are a little fail b.c they don't cook it long enough and it's very soggy. But for the most part it has been good. This is my go to place for Taiwanese porkchop rice. I always buy at least four orders to take with me to go when I go back to seattle My most recent trip, my mom picked up the order for me and when she opened the box, the porkchop has become much much smaller than what it use to be.. There were only three small pieces when it's usually five pieces when you dine in. The owner told my mom it's b.c they have to cover the cost of to go boxes and how their boxes are really nice/expensive and can be reused so they buy smaller pork chops to cover the cost ... Wtbeeeeeeep. I've never heard of that logic before .. Does that mean if I bring my old boxes in, I can get a discount or a bigger piece of porkchop? -.- for the cost it has become no longer worth it. My bf use to always request for me to bring this back but after my most recent order, he said he no longer wants it. We had to eat two orders of the porkchop and it was more like the old times portions ... So if you guys have noticed the portions are smaller the owner said its to cover cost and prices have to go up (& since they are doing so well their son is trying to open new locations that's why all the updates to the place with the name and menu etc) .. If you need to bring the price up that's fine your food is good but to make the portion for the meat so small .. Not okay. Side note. All ye who venture past, abandon hope! HaHa, hope that you can forget this delish food! This food was the reason, I decided to visit Taiwan, when the older location closed down! And another location was NOT forthcoming, (read -in limbo!). I had to get that taste again! I was running around last year in Taipei, with some friends, one of whom was a trained chef in many cuisines, hunting for the "taste" of their "boiled bamboo dish" Friends here, said it was a common dish, but, we spent a whole night searching the various night markets and eateries looking for it! The Chef finally exclaimed, if we can't find it, I will cook it for you! Of course, this was all via the translation of the lovely Angie L. Needless to say, the Chef's brother finally tracked down some and brought it down to the pub, we had settled in, as the night was at an end. He came in, hot off his motorcycle and plopped the package down. All eyes were on me, as I tasted the familiar concoction. I looked back into their awaiting eyes with approval! Mission Accomplished! (Ahem, not in the Bush manner). Yes, I'm a regular, so much so, the main lady, just looks at me when I walk in and asks, "the usual?" And, yes, It appears I am the Duke here, for the moment. I usually get the Pork Chop Noodle Soup with the Boiled Bamboo dish. I was intro'ed to this place, or the former place by one of my foodie friends before she left for Shanghai, she's an Taiwan native; back in 2003 or so. Of recent, I have tried the Fried Chicken Noodle Soup, it's alright, but, I prefer the Pork Chop that is served here. The taste of the Friend Pork chop, the breading, and the mild soya that is spread really has a place in my heart. It's so much a main stay, I get cravings for this dish.. The menu is rather simple. was it in Chinese? I forget, since I never see it anymore, since they know what I want... LOL The parking lot at lunchtime can be a battlefield, there are many other eateries and a Smart and Final that vie for the cars. Also, for a time, there were "day-laborers" that were using this parking lot, and would dash across the street to the Home Depot in search of an honest day's wages. There is also, an asian AYCE, Starbucks, and a Ramen house next door that draws crowds as well, Yes, Yukinoya was here first, but, Jin Yuan gets my heart and my vote for the drive out this way! The Ramen house is solid, but, if Jin Yuan is Open, then it's NO contest! Both are rather small affairs, and both can get crowded at the requisite meal times. It's relatively simple fare, prices are moderate, since they use some authentic ingredients, like the bamboo and sometimes, can;t get them in.. Parking as stated can get rather testy during meal times, so you have got to come either early or late to get a space! But, not so late sometimes, since they have a "prep time" i which they are closed, similar to Japanese restaurants. read more

When you think of Taiwanese food, you automatically think of San Gabriel or Alhambra where it's bustling with aromas of Taiwanese stinky tofu, boba and noodle shops. Rarely would you think the City of Industry serves up decent Taiwanese food that's authentic and affordable. Cue ChopHouse. It's situated in an Asian plaza much like the San Gabriel ones with an abundance of Chinese restaurants with a diverse mix of other Asian cuisines. The food at Chophouse is really simple. The menu has a few key items that they're known for, and is probably the most substantial of them all: the fried pork chop. You can get in a combo, al la carte or with noodles. Really tasty, nice sized portions for lunch. The other item I got was the beef noodle soup which was also excellent. The tomato broth is both very abundant and very rich. They use soft layers of beef to flavor the soup along with a hefty serving of thick noodles. Really delicious! Also a real surprise because I haven't had beef noodle soup with such a strong tomato flavor (love it!). The other sides I tried was the meatball - a sticky rice flour with meat inside and topped with a tangy red sauce on top. It had bamboo inside. Yummy! Now, not so much :( simply because the taste or mix they used on the pork chops taste different, not as tasty TBH and OMG don't even get me started about portion size!! Literally everything shrunk by 1 size, when they moved to this location, the old location used to be in diamond/life plaza on fullerton. Even after they moved here I'll still come simply because it was still good. Not until now..sadly the pork chops last night was sorta ridiculously small and apparently they sell their pork chop for $5.50 just by itself? That literally would not be worth it...its smaller than my palm! Review is based on service. Very poor experience. Waitress does not take order. Waits awhile and finally takes my order. My food was only delivered partially. When the missing entree was pointed out after 20 minutes - they figured out it was never cooked. Wait another 15 minutes for pork chop to be delivered but missing the soup. Soup finally comes but waitress never asks about what to drink. I go get my own ice water from the dispenser. FAIL. Finally the check is triple of what I ordered. Obviously incorrect bill. If you're looking for the best pork chop rice in SGV, this place is the place. It's very small and right next to Ramen Yukino. What you'll get is rice with meat sauce, some veggies, mapo tofu and fried pork chop or fried chicken leg (both are pretty good). You serve yourself water and tea. Very, very low key and don't expect a lot of service but the food comes fast. If you don't like taiwanese pork chop rice, you might want to try the korean version at the cafes in HK market. I would have to say, this place is pretty authentic as far as the taste and service goes for Taiwanese food. Not meaning service is great, it's very Asian-style. Kingchops in Taiwan is my childhood! It's my favorite pork chop restaurant and they're pickled cucumbers are the best! When I saw that Rowland Heights also had a Kingchops, I had to try it! *Porkchop rice (5/5): This brought all my childhood memories back. What really amazed me is that the pork chop and pickled cucumbers tasted exactly like the ones I used to have in Taiwan as a child. Other restaurants that originated from Taiwan/Asia that opens another store in America are usually not as good as the original restaurants and their food don't taste as great either. This restaurant's pork chop, however, is crispy on the outside and juicy and chewy on the inside. The rice with braised meat, broccoli, scrambled egg and dried tofu tastes really good as well. Perfection. King chops is the best restaurant to indulge in pork chops. They're food is always amazing, especially the pickled cucumber :). Located in a strip mall with a good amount of parking spaces, Kingchops is a CASH ONLY restaurant, so make sure to come prepared! My friend and I came here for lunch today and ordered the #2, porkchop with noodles. She got the soup and I got the dry noodles, each $7.50 each. They first brought out the porkchop, which was marinated, crispy, and served with some pickles. This was tasty, tender, and juicy, and the flavors were accentuated with the vinegary dipping sauce they have at the tables. When they brought out the noodles, they also gave me a small bowl of soup for the dry noodle order. The soup was a little bland compared to the flavors of the porkchop and the dry noodles. The dry noodles were delicious and pretty large; I wasn't able to finish this and took about half of it home. It tasted like they were made with fresh noodles and included minced pork, half an egg, and some greens. I do like that they leave a glass bottle of water on your table so you don't have to keep pestering them for refills, but I wish they invested in reusable cups, since they would just give styrofoam (which is wasteful and makes the environment sad). Plain amazing! The pork chop in my opinion is the best. My wife likes the chicken quarter slightly better so it works out. We usually get the rice but lately have been getting noodles with our combo. I had a huge craving for Porkchop rice and finally decided to give this place a try. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The Porkchop had great flavor and made me reminisce about my time eating in Taiwan. I would say this is as authentic as I can get here in the Rowland Heights area. The customers that show up are dress casually and range from young to old. If you want water or tea, head towards the cash register area and pour yourself a glass. The customer service isn't anything spectacular. The only time you talk to your waiter is when they read back the order that you marked down on your menu/order list. Now onto the food! The breading on the chops are nice and light. The dish comes out with a bit of sauce on top. I always order the chops along side a bowl of noodles. I've tried a bit of the rice paired with the chops, but it doesn't do it justice. Some people have commented on the portion of the food served, but I think it's just right. ( It's about quality, not quantity.) I have also tried the tofu with the thousand year old eggs; nothing memorable. 3 stars out of 5 for this cold dish. We were in the area car shopping and was looking for a quick lunch break from all the haggling. My brother has been to this place before and recommends it. Kingchops did not disappoint. We ordered pork chop rice, pork chop soup noodles, braised beef rice and spicy wontons between the four of us. The pork chops were juicy inside and crisp outside, and the rice/noodles come with little side dishes on the plate.
