The show itself although only a dress rehersal was fantastic! The kids loved it, the only downside i can see to the Riverhead theatre is that it is very small, but then in a town the size of Louth i guess it doesnt really need to be that big! The tickets are very reasonably priced although the prices vary depending on what shows are on but i dont think i have ever seen a ticket advertised that has cost more than £11. The theatre itseld is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

It's a fantastic asset to Louth and well deserving of the lottery funding it's had. There are professional dressing rooms, a well-appointed stage with good lighting and even a bar. Views of the stage are good from all seats because it's such a small theatre, and this definitely adds to the atmosphere. The Playgoers theatre company often advertise different plays and these get excellent reviews.

There are three rooms that offer various, timetabled, classes during different days of the week and all sorts of times. It's a real hub of activity and performance and it seems professional which is great for kids as when I did performing arts at college it was not so professional! Not so long ago, I saw some dancers in the street doing some sort of street performance so it has it's own charm and character and I have, many a time, heard shouts and singing coming from the studios as I walk around the centre of Ely so that goes to prove that there is some hard work happening inside! I am very tempted to book myself some Piano lessons and I am also tempted to get back into performing and join in with some dancing and singing! I just need to make sure I have the 'correct' uniform. so professional!

I've just returned from a great ski group reunion weekend in Lincolnshire. On Saturday evening, our…read morehosts took us to the Rutland Open Air Theatre for a performance of Othello by the Stamford Shakespeare Company. This is a stunning venue, being based around the manor house dating back to the 11th century. There are very pretty grounds and theatregoers do picnic on the lawns before the performance but the rain yesterday meant we didn't have the chance to do this. The Stamford Shakespeare Company put on 3 open air plays a year. The theatre itself offers a large canopy over the seated audience area but the stage is out in the open. Fortunately, the rain stayed away during yesterday's performance but I was assured by my local friends that whatever the weather, the show does go on. I wouldn't call myself a Shakespeare fan but last night's performance may just have converted me. I was riveted and this tale of deceit, jealousy and betrayal was a roller coaster of emotions. My only regret was the Stamford Shaekspeare Company's tradition of not having a curtain call at the end of the play - the 'dead' actors remained on the stage until the theatre had emptied. They deserved a standing ovation. And to top it off, the tickets cost £16 each! This is an evening of top entertainment, even if you don't consider yourself a fan of the bard. Thanks to my friends Ian and Alice for organising this superb evening.
