We started coming to this orchard last year. The quality of the apples was amazing. The people were very accommodating. They observed masking requirements when necessary. They were also very solicitous of a family member who is disabled. My only complaint is that whenever I bring home a large amount of apples, my family gobbles them down before I have a chance to have many. read more

Woohoooo, review nr 700! And an FTR to boot! :-) I figured for this monumentous occasion I'd give our local farms some love. So, when a co-worker recently informed me of a farm right here in MoCo that grows lots of different peach varieties, I knew I had to check it out. If you are are at Homestead or Lewis, Kingbury's Orchard's farm stand is a very short drive - right on aptly named Peach Tree Road. You cannot pick your own peaches, but they sell their fruit for lower prices than I've seen elsewhere. I bought a bag for $6 and it contained close to 5lbs. However, the some of the pieces seem to have been picked a tad early - they still had a slight green tinge at the very top. They definitely need a few days to ripen either way, and only then - once I have actually tasted the peaches - can I give a better assessment of this farm. read more

As my sister and I walked in to the kingsbury orchard farm stand today the owner offer the people in front of us a peach sample. My sister asked for a sample and the owner said she doesn't do samples. My sister told the owner she had just given people samples, but the owner said no, she had none. First, you're a peach orcherd so of course you have a sample if you choose. Second, don't offer samples only to some customers. I won't go back again. There are many other wonderful orchards with farm stands in the neighborhood. read more

No question- the best local peaches and their Honeycrisp Apples are incredible. I thought I was a white peach gal until I had their Kingsbury Pride yellow peaches - absolutely wonderful. we also freeze peach slices so that we can enjoy them off season in fruit smoothies! This market also supports the preservation of Montgomery County's Ag Reserve and it's small family farms. read more

I am writing this with mixed feelings; I've only heard good things about Kiingsbury's but I'm still wondering about what happened today- besides the 2nd worst case of customer service I've ever experienced (First place continues to be held by Comcast!). The first 2 minutes of my experience were nice- a beautiful location with cows and a goat, a cute little pond- really lovely, really relaxing. I hear they have a cute dog, too, but I didn't have the pleasure of meeting the pup I went to buy corn- my neighbors have said they are better and cheaper than very nearby Lewis Orchards. I made the mistake of trying to inspect the corn first- this is what I've always done, peel a bit of the husk to just see if there are worms, etc. On cob 7, the proprietress of the farm market, an elderly woman, suddenly told me that I couldn't put the cob back after I inspected the tip- I had to buy it. Now, she had watched me inspect each cob for the first 6, then suddenly pipes up when I find my first reject. I don't know why she didn't share her policy until I violated it. I dutifully obeyed and put the offending cob in my sack and proceeded to select cobs without inspection, but I made the mistake about pushing her on her policy- I was really puzzled. I was stunned, and shared I'd always done this, indeed this was how I was told to buy corn. She was just mean, then when I suggested she put up a sign with her policy, she grabbed my bag of corn, dumped it back in the bushel, and told me to go to Lewis Orchards. Which I did. Honestly, the experience was surreal. Turns out Lewis Orchards has the same policy, but it's really clearly marked. I can appreciate the policy based on their clear communication. Friends joined me for dinner who love this place and were equally shocked. As a result of speaking with them, we all wonder if the proprietress is OK. I did not cuss, scream or do more than seem a bit incredulous- which was as much in reaction to her to attitude as it was to the policy general. So, my very negative review is not based on the quality of the food, but the bizarre behavior of the owner. So, I hear the peaches are great, but maybe buy your corn at Lewis. BTW, Lewis was cheaper! read more

I buy produce at both Kingsbury's and Lewis and have done so for decades. Kingsbury has the better apples and peaches. Lewis has the better vegetables and larger selection. Lewis is undoubtably friendlier. However, I've seen Kingsbury staff go to great lengths to accommodate customers with very limited English. I've bought Kingsbury apples in October, stored them correctly, and enjoyed them until Easter. The folks at Kingsbury are not obsequious and do not fall over themselves to provide Suburbanites with a warm fuzzy rural encounter, they're busy growing, harvesting and selling excellent tree fruit. Oh, and you buy corn by looking at the corn silk. If you open the corn, you mess it up. Also, Kingsbury and Lewis both set aside produce to buy by the pound, if you take it from a pre-packaged box, you pointlessly make work for the staff. read more

I was totally shocked by the way the owner behaved today. She was very rude, brutal and had no idea how to treat her customer who had been the farm many times in the past. As usual I do shopping in any farms, including her farm, I was first looking around a little bit and came by a table with white peaches, which were on different sizes of baskets. As I had previous experience that peaches from their farm could not last for more than a week at room temperature, I paid a special attention this time to the freshness of these fruits. Indeed, I found one peach on the top of the basket had visible damaged skin in several spots and picked it up to examine it more closely. I thought it was totally normal and in fact that was the way I always do in any grocery stores and farms, including her farm. An assistant who was on the site told me that that the peach was fine and I could choose another basket instead of touching them. At the moment I was thinking to choose another basket, the owner came to me and immediately yielded to me: do not touch the peaches! While trying to explain to her, she commended to me that either I buy it or go to another store, which made me totally stunned because I had very few experience that I got yielded by a staff or an owner in any store. Of course, the choice I made was left the farm and I told her that I will never come back again. She said that she does not care. I guess that she meant that her dignity is more important than anything else. I have no idea why the owner became so rude today. One possible reason was, as she later explained, peaches would go bad if touched and that the damaged peach in the basket had been probably touched by someone else. Well, I am not sure whether the peaches would be damaged by a simple touch. Even so, she should not mix any damaged peaches on the basket for whatever reason. At least, she should place a visible sign to tell customers that the peaches cannot be touched and explain to customers in a professional manner. The incidence made me to think about a more plausible explanation: there are indeed more damaged peaches under the top and she worried that I would find the truth in the front of other customers. Of course, there is another reason: their business has been blooming, and they no longer need to take care customers because they would like their dignity prevailed by customers. No matter what reasons, as a customer, I like to shop for a product with a good quality, this quality includes not only the product itself but also the service I will receive. If you have the same definition about the quality, the Kingsbury's Orchard is certainly not the place to go. Good thing is that there are many farms in the area. I just found that Larriland farm near my home will provide picking-up-your own peaches starting tomorrow. read more

The owner, an elderly white woman, is extremely racist and unpleasant. She was pleasant with every white family, but not to ours because of our race. We had the same experience that another reviewer had with the appalling behavior of the owner. We were attempting to inspect the corn we were going to buy and she yelled at us, "Corn is corn." We drove very far to come here and had the worst experience. Do not recommend this place to anyone. The corn was also not great and overpriced. read more

Not sure why everyone has rave reviews, I found the staff incredibly rude. This review is similar to Susan M.'s review. We are nearby, and frequently go to Lewis' Farm, but today we decided to see what Kingsbury's Orchard was all about. I got a basket of red plums and then saw some donut peaches. There was a pound basket, but since I'd never had these before, I took a few out thinking that I would pay by the pound for them. I put all of the items on the counter expecting that they would be weighed. This gray hair lady (staff member) came up to me, and asked if I had gotten them out of the pound basket. I said yes, and she proceeded to pick them up, not saying a word, and put them back where I found them. No explanation, just rudely took them back, like I was trying to steal them. The other salesperson just stared at me, with no effort to try to explain or give another option - like maybe a 1/2 pound? She did make sure to tell me I owed $5.00 for the plums. She made sure that our first visit will be our last, we won't be back! read more
