First of all, they don't answer their phone. This office is only open on Fridays. We did manage to get appointments on a Friday afternoon, which worked out great for my kids and I. I started this review and just kept rambling and rambling cause there is just so much to say. But im telling you, from the bottom of my heart and the honest Yelp reviewer I am... STAY AWAY!! I get that our insurance leaves us very little options, but this place is horrible. 1. this place doesn't use plastic disposable protectors.. so the mouth and spit they touched at the appointment before yours, is all over the light, the xray machine, and anything the dentist touches. I would put money on them not sanitizing each room after the patient leaves either. Yes they use gloves... but the gloves are in your mouth, then on the xray machine and on the light. Gross. 2. I asked my 10 year old later that night how he liked his cleaning.. he told me that he hated it cause he hates that polish paste.. (all gritty) and I said yeah but what about the other stuff. He said that the dentist didn't do anything other than polish his teeth. No descaling, no poking or prodding, no flossing.. nada, just polish. 3. Follow up apt for my 15 year olds filling that had fallen out... they told me that the co-pay was going to be $70. Because I happened to call my insurance company to tell them about my 10 year olds experience, I asked about our co-pays. The insurance code the dental office gave us was old and invalid and turns out that the correct code was a no charge. After I told the dental office the correct code, they told my son to kick rocks and they wont be doing the work. Nice, right? 4. They don't inspect your teeth for cavities... they ask you, is anything bothering you. If your answer is no, then you're good to go. Their xrays are film and they hold them up to the room lighting.. so really they cant tell much that way either. So basically... you have to have a tooth bother you before they will fix it. So a tiny cavity that you may have now... will have to be a huge and painful cavity to be fixed by them. Today I filed a formal complaint with my insurance company against this shoddy dental office. What a horrible experience. I did read reviews beforehand, but like I said our dental insurance kinda sucks when it comes to HMO. Definitely switching that! read more

**This review is for the Blossom Hill office** I hate writing bad reviews, but I have to for this office. This is by far the worst dentist I've been to. I was there on time for my appointment, but I had to wait for 45 min before they saw me. The assistant took the x-rays first, but she was really rough and rude. I was starting to wonder if she had something against me. Then the doctor came and told me I needed a deep cleaning on one area. He worked on it for like 3 min and told me everything else was ok. Then the rude assistant came back to "polish" my teeth for like another 3 min, and my appointment was done. I was very uncomfortable the entire time in the office because it was just filthy. The receptionist was not professional. I wonder if they charged my insurance for both prophylaxis and scaling. They did not give me the bill because my insurance covers everything. I should probably check because if they actually charged my insurance for the full amount for 6 min of their work, that would be a fraud! read more

The office contacted me after my missed appointment and apologized profusely for not calling me back. They blamed it on a new receptionist (I really didn't need to hear the reason) and assured me it would never happen again. They rescheduled a cleaning for me the following week, but it was at the Blossom Hill location, which was much more out of the way for me than the O'Conner location that I usually go to. read more

ZERO STARS PLEASE! I went there because his office was recomended by a friend. However, the former dentist sold the practice to dr kini. My plan is an HMO plan and since they accepted i thought it would be perfect. Boy was i mistaken. Dr Kini is a fraud. He was running very late for my appointment. when he finally saw me, he didnt even clean my teeth no did his assistant or hygienist. He told me that I needed a deep cleaning. Total lie!!! I went to see my old dentist and get a second opinion from him. My old dentist took pictures of my teeth and reassured me that in no way shape or form did I need a deep cleaning and suggested I contact my insurance company to report dr kini. I was in tears when i left his office. When I left I did tell the receptionist they better not bill because services were not rendered and that would be fraud. Since i have this HMO, i found it difficult to change dentists, so i thought i would try one more time. The receptionist at this office was absolutely horrible and i found it very difficult to get an appointment. I dont know why I have never reported this dentist, but i should have a long time ago. read more

Bottom line: Don't waste your time. I wasted hours of mine. Just go somewhere where the dentists and staff actually know what they are doing. Details: I would not recommend going here. I scheduled an appointment at the San Jose office, which is only open Fridays. This means if anything comes up and you need to change the appointment, you will have to wait until Friday to change anything. This is because the other office "does not know how" to handle appointments at the San Jose office according to the person answering the phone. Even if you wait until Friday to call, they may just not answer at all, despite calling a half a dozen times. In the end, when I went for my appointment they told me I wasn't on the correct list for my insurance to cover me. They could have checked this before I got there and I could have fixed it, but they didn't. I would have personally checked with them to make sure this was the case, but as I said, good luck getting anyone with any ability to help to answer the phone. read more

I am sorry I have to leave such a poor review-but I'm glad my dental insurance stopped so I do not have to see this man again. My 1st visit was supposed to be teeth clean and xray. The second he heard I didn't have insurance for 3 years, everything changed. He took numerous Xrays going from 3-6 or more after he told me he'd start with the smaller number so I could save money. Then, I needed a 'deep cleaning' and had bone decay and a number of 'hidden cavities'. Instead of suggesting a small bit of work at a time (im making a bit over minimum wage), he insisted two older cavities in my rear molars had hidden 'decay' and that I'd immediately need Bridges on those teeth. I had no pain or any change in my normal dental health. I never got ANYTHING but the Xrays...so he could wait for the insurance to cover the higher cost 'deep cleaning'. BTW, I was getting cheap cleanings/Xrays off Craigslist-and no other dentist said anything of the sort. This man and his 'chair side' manner needs much improvement and if you are looking for someone to 'save' your teeth on a limited budget, look elsewhere! He never phoned me back for follow up (because the insurance probably wouldn't pay), and no one returns phone calls promptly. My wife and I have Delta dental insurance. We decided to go to Dr. R. Kini and Dr. L. Kini for our dental needs. Both Dr. Lata and Dr. Ramanand are very hospitable and honest. I asked if I needed any whitening done on my teeth. Dr. suggested that my teeth are in good shape and that I did not need any whitening procedure done(contrary to some other reviews). I just got regular cleaning done. My wife was attended to by Dr. Lata and she was equally impressed(she had to get some poorly done fillings removed and get some new ones done). One added plus for us was that we got our appointments in parallel(so we saved time!!!). Highly recommended!!! read more

This is for the office right next to Westfield Valley Fair. Dr. Kini and his wife give some damn good service. They are very friendly and jovial as well as ALWAYS cooperative. Dr. Kini does a great job with basic dental procedures such as cleaning and is very gentle always makes sure that you are OK, and never tries to do to much without asking for permission. I have literally never had a bad experience with this guy and honestly recommend him to everyone reading this because he gives warm, fantastic service at a low price. read more

So far this has been a great experience. I find it disturbing that most of the reviews I read are bad. These guys are wonderful. I've been to many dentists and I have to say that these guys are professional and really gentle. This is the first time I've had a deep cleaning and didn't need a shot. I went to Dr Lata Kini for a regular cleaning and i must say i had a pleasant experience. I had to change dentists this year as my previous dentist did not accept Delta HMO. Dr Kini took a couple of x-rays to make sure i did not have any cavities and then went ahead with the cleaning. After the procedure she was kind enough to teach me how to floss ! This was the first time that a dentist has actually shown me how to do so and that the gums might bleed initially but this is because tartar formation and they should be fine after a couple of days. I would definitely recommend Kini Dental care to all my friends. read more

I am so glad to have Dr Kini as my dentist. I have had many bad dental experiences in the past and had been putting off going to the dentist. I needed extensive work and was a little afraid to go but Dr Kini put me totally at ease. It started the minute I walked into the office - even though the building is old, the interior is very modern and clean. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Dr Kini is always smiling and relaxed while working, taking time to explain each step before proceeding. He actually gave me different options and an estimate even before he started. I hadnt been to the dentist in a long time because of a bad experience in the past. I went to Dr. Kini's office on the recommendation of a friend. Right from the time I entered the office, I was put at ease by the calm, relaxed atmosphere. They knew I was nervous and worked with me patiently. Every step was explained to me, all my questions were answered. The treatment plan and cost was explained clearly and I came away with a good feeling. After that first appointment, I have been there a few times to get all the work done. They have been very gentle with me - helping me get over my nervousness. Kind, experienced, professional and non-judgemental are words I would use to describe both Dr. Kini's. I have been going to them for five or six years now and always leave saying "This is the best dental experience I can imagine". I went yesterday, on a Saturday no less, to have a crown replaced, a cavity filled and a deep cleaning. Dr Kini did all the procedures himself and it was a pleasure to have a true professional do the work. It was done efficiently and competently, with little novacaine and very little pain. While Dr Ramanand was doing the procedures, Dr Lata Kini was assisting and humming a tune, which to me was a sign of someone who is happy about what they are doing. I felt well taken care of and that the work they did was the best possible. I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

I had one visit with doctor Kini and my initial impression was that he had put together a mom&pop office which was okay. The cleaning, X-rays and crown job were just average. Couple of weeks later, due to changes to my insurance plan, I changed dentists and when I visited Dr. Kini's office to obtain my X-rays from him, despite prior agreement over the phone, he refused to provide the records and claimed those records were his office property. As I insisted, he raised his voice and assumed a very unprofessional language which I did not appreciate. I am a new patient to Dr. Kini. I had my teeth cleaned and needed a root canal due to a painful tooth. Dr. Kini was very gentle and professional and I was able to lose the fear I had when I first started with him. His assistant was very kind and professional and helped to put me at ease. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The office was clean and had more updated equipment than my last dentist.
