I get the feeling that Kinky puts its stylists under a lot of pressure. That's the only charitable explanation I can think of for their consistently annoying behaviour. My usual experience with Kinky is that the stylist is competent but very young and very insecure, tearing straight into cutting without really listening to what you're saying.
To be fair, they usually they can't hear you anyway because they're screaming at each other over the loud music about how cool or sexy this or other colleague in the Amsterdam/Ahrnem branch/x fashion show in Finland is.
Today, the stylist didn't ask my name, didn't tell me his name, snapped at me when I ran my fingers through my hair mid cut, and said 'what?' _every_ single_ time_ I said something to him. This gave a particularly strong impression of complete disengagement.
After today my patience with Kinky has finally snapped. It's an expensive chain, which prides itself on being the coolest shit in town - as emphasised over and over again by its staff's insecure and snooty attitude. I've now been to Kinky 4 times at different branches. I can safely say that on only one occasion was the stylist relaxed and friendly. A cut will set you back more that 40 Euros and or that price I expect decent service, not just the honour of some 19 year old demonstrating how cool he thinks he is. read more
