Beautiful store. I was helped right away by a lovely woman who knew exactly what size shoe I needed, and encouraged me as I am going back to dance class as an adult. It looks like they have a wide selection of leotards and shoes, and there's a lovely area in the back with barres and a wooden floor to try things on. The woman that helped me find flat shoes today was incredibly rude to my boyfriend. He was helping me figure out which shoes to buy since he is a professional ballet dancer, and she proceeded to refer to him as a girl and "she" the entire time we were in the store. No matter how many times we mentioned him taking men's class she did not apologize or correct her behavior. We were very displeased with our visit as that kind of behavior is, frankly, inconsiderate and unacceptable, and if there was another dance supply store in Louisville, we would be taking our business there instead. read more

Very knowledgeable and staff was so sweet to my 3 year old granddaughter and her first ballet/tap shoes and leotards!

My experience with this store was positive. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. Though the sales associate did look at me a bit quizzically (I assumed it was because I was not tethered to a child). Once I told her that I was looking for adult ballet shoes, her expression became more positive and she was quite helpful and knowledgeable about my shoe options. Their 'Back-to-school' sale ( from now until Aug. 24, 2015) brings their prices on par and even below some online ones. I recommend this store. read more

This is the only dance shoe store in Louisville, so I have to go there for dance shoes for my daughter. Some of the staff are rude and impatient. I hate going there. read more

I will NOT recommend anyone in the dance community to purchase anything from this store. I will make sure that I let all of the dance Moms and Dads that I come in contact with to not purchase anything from this establishment... My experience today was hurtful and highly disrespectful. I was not greeted by the two sales people behind the desk nor the other 3 employees that passed by me and looked me directly in my face. Myself, my Grandmother and my daughter(whom I was purchasing for) were never acknowledged. As I stepped closer to the counter and older woman asked if I was going to check out and I told her I needed help. She then pointed her finger to the back of the store and told me to "Sit down!" That happened 3 times as I was trying to tell her that I needed help with more than just the shoes. I almost felt like a 5 year old being scolded by their mother in the harsh manner that she was speaking to me. I then placed the leotards back on the rack and told her "I don't think so" and left. It's unfortunate that I now have to purchase from another establishment or online because of the hateful, racist behavior I experienced today. She had no idea I was going to spend over $300 for my daughters dance items. I hope that they learn from their mistake. read more

This the main place to get items for the serious dancer besides going online to shop or traveling to another city. The customer service is poor and they don't care. I had an item I needed to exchange for a larger size and they refused despite having all evidence that we bought the time from them at their store. I prefer to travel and spend my money elsewhere that to continue to deal with their poor service. It is ridiculous. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable! My daughter has been dancing for 10 years and I wouldn't know a pointe shoe from a half sole without the ladies at this store. You can buy things cheaper online but their knowledge is priceless. read more

My daughter has been dancing for eight years and I am completely ignorant when it comes to dance. The staff at Kinney are friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Yes, they are the only store in town and you can order from other stores online, but they always make sure my daughter's shoes ( jazz, tap, demi-pointe) fit correctly. I highly recommend them! read more

I witnessed horrible customer service at this establishment. A beautiful well dressed young black woman was treated with audacious disrespect, by one of the employees older white female. She was not greeted, nor asked if she and her child needed help. I noticed black woman approach the counter where the woman abrasively told her to "go sit down." I'm assuming the woman thought it okay to speak and direct her, as if she were a child. I was so happy to see she did not respond with any disrespect but, clearly refused to be treated with that level of disrespect and walked out of the store. That was ridiculous and quite stupid of that ignorant woman. I wouldn't recommend that store to anyone. read more
