As far as I know this is the only Indian Restaurnt in Aviemore. The menu is pretty cool, with a few items on it that I hadn't seen before. I was feeling curious and, after we'd ordered some papadums with spicde onions and dips, I opted for a Moghul honey with lamb while my partner went for the lamb Shyheti Balti and we got rice and a Peshwari naan to share. His was the better dish, mine would have been better with chicken and while it was delicious it was sweeter and milder than I'd normally choose. Still, I enjoyed it very much and I'm sure the rest of the menu is great too. We took our time over the meal and the staff didn't rush us. It was a nice, warm place to sit for a couple of hours and I'd definitely come back again in the future. I noticed on our way out that they do also offer take away food and that it's 10% off the main menu, so that's probably worth trying at some point too.

The poppadoms were good to start with and the size and quantity of the different sauces and condiments to sample with the poppadom excellent. The starters came a while later and whilst nice, were on the expensive side. I always like spicy food and especially curries. I asked the waiter to deliver a curry twice as hot as anything on the menu and when it came they had succeeded!

Westhill's Taste of India stands out as one of the best Indian restaurants I've dined in, and I've…read moreeaten in many! Visiting from Glasgow - a city full of award-winning Indian restaurants - I rate Taste of India right up there with my favourite restaurant there (The Dakhin). Visiting my folks for Easter, we ventured to Taste of India for a Saturday night meal. The establishment has recently undergone a high-quality refurbishment and is now a sizeable restaurant in addition to providing a take-away service. On entering I was surprised that we were the only customers, however it was early on a holiday weekend, but we were soon joined by a couple more tables. What impressed me on opening the menu was that the dishes were authentic Indian - and grouped by vegetarian / non-vegetarian and North Indian / South Indian. The breads were also interesting with Roti, Chapattis, Dosa, Pratha in addition to the usual Nan. There's also a selection of Tiffin and Biryani items, and thankfully no mention of "European Dishes"! Service was brisk, with our drinks order being taken straight away, and Poppadoms appetizers served quickly. I ordered the Chicken Pepper Fry, my folks the Lamb Pathia and Chicken Pathia. To accompany, we shared a Tandoori Roti, 2x Jeera rice (1x would have been sufficient), and Kerala Paratha with spiced potato. Service was brisk, with the food arriving in around 20 minutes, piping hot, with warmed plates and and beautifully presented. Portion size was definitely the largest I've had in an Indian restaurant. My only gripe was the poppadums appetizer - rather average and the accompanying sauces not up to much (coarse-chopped spiced onion, yoghurt and too-thick mango 'jam'). Compared to the quality of the mains, this didn't set expectations on fire for the main event to follow. But a minor issue, it's only an appetizer after all - but could be better. Needless to say, we all thoroughly enjoyed out meals, and tried each others' mains too. The tasty accompaniments to the breads was unexpected and really added to the meal. This restaurant is an absolute gem, serving authentic Indian cuisine at a very reasonable price, with great service. Three alcoholic drinks each and our food came to just over £70. Don't be put off by the restaurant's location within the Westhill Shopping Centre (opposite M&S Simply Food), this place is top-notch and you won't be disappointed.

They do both delivery and collect which is good, on the times I have ordered for delivery it has been in good time. If you collect your food it is a nice place to sit in, comfortable and smells great! The food has always been of a great standard and the prices are reasonable. This Indian take away has been open for a long time which I think proves that it is great. You will never have a problem getting parked in the big car park.
