The meandering Mosel Valley is not only very beautiful, it is also home to some excellent German white wines - crisp, aromatic and very food friendly, these are a long way from Black Tower or Blue Nun (i.e. generic, semi-dry, mass market dross).
According to his website, Markus Boor is a winemaker who manages an area of more than 4 hectares, situated in the territories Goldgrube, Klosterberg and Schatzgarten in Wolf as well as the Würzgarten in Traben.
The wines which are cultivated in the vineyards are Riesling, Rivaner, Pinot Blanc, Merlot, Dornfelder and Pinot Noir.
The Riesling is the main product of these traditional vineyards.
On a driving holiday through Alsace and the Rhine and Mosel velleys a few years ago, I stopped off here to try a few samples and ended up with a case of excellent (and great value) Pinot Blanc and Riesling. read more
